Hi Tom, a couple of clues I picked up on that might have saved some points: The Singapore one had white and black kerbs that you see in Southeast Asia and not Australia. I think there was also a Singapore flag visible in the background at one point. The Paris one: there was an 18th Arrondissement marking on the street sign, which meant it was in Paris. If you learn the "snail" pattern of the arrondissements, you could also get the area of Paris that it is in.
@Michael-kp4bd2 жыл бұрын
Even I could tell that was a classic Singapore looking location. Tom definitely beat me on pretty much every other guess, even his far ones. But it made me feel like at least I’ve learned some things from watching so much geoguessr content!

FYI they have arrondissements in Marseille and Lyon too (although neither have 18). Paris's are really distinctive though, with their cool art nouveau style and green border. Marseille's and Lyon's are more similar, just blue and white.

21:30 The triangular sign reading "No Passing Zone" is specific to the United States. In Canada the equivalent sign is a white square with diagram of two cars in a red circle and a slash through the one on the left. In general Canada uses symbols on road signs while USA uses English words. And where US signs have both symbols and words, Canadian signs only have the symbols. For example the Canadian "One Way", "Yield", "Do Not Enter" and "Railway Crossing" signs are roughly the same as the American signs but without the text.

Tom, you miss a lot of the central Oregon ones in these videos and I will give you a big hint. Those trees, they are ponderosa pines that are only really in central Oregon to northern California. It is also very obvious when the dirt next to the roads is that reddish color as that high desert area is all lava rock which gives the dirt that color. They are a dead giveaway for those images. I live in SW Washington but spend a lot of time in central Oregon with friends in the summer. It is actually crazy how much pollen those trees hold. In the spring time, it looks like yellow pinecones in the trees that leave a cloud of pollen when the wind blows. It is so bad, the roads are basically stained yellow when everything is in bloom.

I think you were probably thinking of George St, the main road through the centre of Sydney. Hardly a unique name, though. 20:36 Parisian street signs always have a numbered Arrondissement in a little crescent on the top. As far as I know they're the only city that uses this style. They're numbered somewhat unhelpfully in a clockwise spiral from the centre out, so unless you just know them all instinctively it's not that useful in very short timed rounds, but you'll at least know you're in Paris.
