I'm amazed at how similar to they sound, but I think its just the room that is impacting the sound more than anything. I would love to see what the MKH50 would sound in that space having the superior reverb rejection indoors. At least from my experience the MKH50 has been much better in reverberant rooms. But at the end of the day, the room itself and the microphone proximity sometimes is the bigger factor.
@showdaKOs2 жыл бұрын
I kinda maybe liked the MKH50 more but I think people get too caught up with the tech. Audio is one of the most important things but all mikes beyond a certain level of price would give you good audio. Let's say 90 to 95% of the way, the 5% more would get much more subjective to most people. It's like comparing witch camera get the best 4k, while most people still watch your videos in full hd. While that room could usee some of those sound panels lying around doing nothing... He could put them on the sides for example, out of frame.
@avdcam2 жыл бұрын
@@showdaKOs Totally agree. I just know that the MKH50 is at least the more optimal microphone design for interior rooms. The 416, well excellent, is meant for exterior applications.

I love Dave. I wish I lived in Canada, where people like Dave live. I'm going to be an audio snob for a second: the Sennheiser sounds better/more natural than the Audix. The Audix rejects more of the room. Which brings me to the sound of the room...I don't remember Dave's videos sounding so "roomy" in his videos but the room...yeah, it needs work. Needs more treatment to knock down the echo. The recording position doesn't sound as bad as the rest, but I would take those extra sound panels and place them on the paralell walls. Better yet get more of the longer panels and place them of the paralell walls out of the shot. And get an acoustic cloud to mount above the recording position. Ideally, you'd have treatment in the back as well, but I know that aesthetics play a role here, so the more you treat everything you can't see, the more it will knock down reflections into the untreated part of the room.

3:53 - Just use a wireless follow focus or use the Axon Cine (mark 1 or 2). The Mark 1 adds center point AF to any MFT lens on the Pocket4K. The Mark 2 adds AF to any manual lens using the DJI Focus Mark 1 Lidar system.

The sunset lighting reminded me of the shots of the Tyrell Corporation building from bladerunner. Even got the concrete-looking baffles near the 'windows.' I think it's a much more natural look than the 5000k or so the lights started at.
@Gabilleta2 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's the space and the echoing but the Audix SCX1 sounded cleaner, with "S" sounding less piercing or clipping while the Sennheiser sounded a bit boomier, "S" needed a bit more De-Essing, maybe more noise dampening to cut down on the echo, probably clipping the mic at points depending the gain levels, something like a pop filter might help reduce. But then again KZbin might be screwing with the audio so I might be completely wrong.

If you adjusted the other mic to the same distance, then Sennheiser MKH 416 is my choice for slightly better sound. (if you only had the Audix SCX1, its not bad, especially with YT compression. It isnt nearly a 2x quality increase when you switched to the MKH 416. The room's sound design is probably where money could be spent, not spending another 1kusd) (step 1: fix your ceiling and floors for improved audio)
