What is more amazing is that they built the positions with very little machinery. Majority of it built by hand. And it’s still here. Love seeing these locations because you won’t see them anyplace else but here. Eagle Eyes is a very lucky young man to have a dad like you. Keep the adventures coming.

Yes so much was done by manpower alone and they also used horses a lot out there. EE is doing so well out there and it is thanks to all the inspiration you kind people give him. Thanks Anthony :)

Great continuation video, HH. The stonework is outstanding. The walls are fitted with good-grade granite. A lot of backbreaking and horse teamwork went into this place. I love the fact that the inner walls slope out, making it stronger and more comfortable to lean up against to fire. Can't wait for the next segment. Stay safe and well both of you.

You can certainly see why the Germans had to take that fortress. It dominates the entire valley below, and anyone moving down there would soon feel lumps of steel landing on them. It would have been such a hard fight. That fortress is really well planned and laid out. It's no wonder the Germans were surprised when they finally got in. Having been built 30+ years earlier, they would have no idea of the layout, or the defensive tunnel and firing positions. Looking forward to the next video on this fortress! Seriously cannot wait to see what else this amazing place has to show us. Thank you both for sharing this incredibly fascinating place! Cheer to you both!

Wow EE, so exciting to see you touching, walking on and walking in history! Well done on finding this amazing pre-WW1 fortress that gave the German WW2 army such a challenge! The howitzer gun and machine gun placements are amazing giving such control of the area. Sin e they only uswd the area for a hospital one understands why the Germans stripped the fortress for the steel and reassigned the guns to different areaa Looking forward to the story of the lost gun! ❤
