funny...I do the same...it is amazing how much paper and envelopes can be re-used like that...I also collect the empty boxes (cardboard or plastic) of food I ran out of.....or at least I cut out the most important part of those foodwrappings and boxes...an collect those near my keys..to be remembered when I leave the house or go shopping...and sometimes..when I intentionally want to go on a bigger shopping I take all the scraps of those food wrappings and boxes..and write them down on the envelope ...so this way I get exactly a list of food or brands of rice or noodles or spices..I liked and want to buy again... ;)

I love all of these suggestions but we live in a townhouse with very limited closets, no walk in pantry, no garage, no real entryway area for coats, boots etc, and not really a place for bins. Things like our vacuum cleaners really annoy me because they just sit out since there are no closets for them. I would love to see a video incorporating these ideas into smaller living spaces for full-size families.

It’s so frustrating not to have storage! We don’t have any hallways in our house, or anything like a linen closet, just 2 small 1920s clothing closets, and out front door opens right into the middle of our living room. Cas .. when you buy new clothes add a half cup of table salt to the first washing of it. The salt 'sets' the dyes and they wont bleed onto other items. Learned that trick many years ago and it really does work. Life changer for me. Now i just throw all my clothes in together and wash on cold and nothing ever bleeds and i dont have to waste time separating items nor have smaller piles sitting around waiting for like items to make up a load.
@blaireshoe87389 ай бұрын
Pardon, do you mean that you do the initial wash together with your regular load of laundry, but just add salt to that load, or do you do a separate wash for the new item with the salt so it will be ready to wash with the regular load next time?

@@blaireshoe8738 .. I just put it all in together with the salt in the first washing of the new items. I used to work in the men's department in a large dept store and without fail all the returns of items that had been ruined in the wash they had used Tide detergent. When I learned about the salt trick, from then on every item I sold I'd recommend them to wash in a milder detergent and add salt to the first wash. Several of them came back later to thank me for the tip. I should have edited my first comment to say approximately 1/3 cup of salt instead of 1/2 .. it's not an exact science. Yes...New dark wash jeans, especially. Wash them several times with just darks and also exfoliate after wearing them or you could be like me and end up with a mysterious rash I could figure out for weeks. Saw the dr and was given a topical cream that didn't help. I decided to cost my thighs in coconut oil to soothe my skin and noticed blue oozing from my pores. It was my jeans. They had been washed several times and worn a dozen or more times by then (I wash jeans about every 3 or 4 wears or so)...once I saw a tinge of blue, I showered and really exfoliated and you would not believe how the blue dye ran down ! I grew up in the 70’s as the youngest of 4, both my parents worked full time (my Mom third shift), our house was always neat and clean. We were taught quite young to put our things away. Dishes were never left in the sink. We never had more than the house could handle but we had plenty of what we needed. There was no Alexa, no robo-things,, no KZbin, just good old fashioned cleaning. We earned money for savings by doing chores; .10 for dusting, .25 for vacuuming and a whopping $1.00 for washing floors or mowing the lawn! We were lucky to have such a balanced home. I realize not everyone is. Today’s organization just seems so extra, maybe that’s just me ?

We also did not get money for our helping..we got praise and Thankfulness..Only later when we were Teenagers..my parents allowed us to earn some pocket money..for picking strawberries on a nearby farmers field...and this also felt very special... simpler days...:)

Hi, Cass! I have a pad on the fridge that is for writing anything we are running out of. I also have a designated spot for random things. My family is slowly getting the hang of it. I am slowly getting my little house to the way I want it. I am picking a project each month. This month is scaling down the bins to 4 memory bins. This activity will get everyone involved. So each person has 31 days this month to get their memories into one bin. I figured that I am not the only one that made memories and I shouldn't be the only one that tackles this project. Please keep the videos going. I love them. You inspire me to do what I know needs to be done. This weekend I will finish the closet I told you about with my Mom's clothes. Meanwhile I am checking around to see if there is a place I can take the suits, business-like attire because I don't work that type of job and I figure that someone out there that loves to dress like my Mom loved to dress would benefit and love the clothing. Again, thank you for the push.

Then, five years ago I discovered AUDIOBOOKS. I love my life again. Second, I’m surprised you don’t have a grocery list that you can tell Alexa to add things you need from the store to. I have a grocery list in my lists on my phone. When I’m cooking, if I run out of curry, for example, I just keep on working in the moment whilst casually saying “Hey Siri, add Curry Powder to my Grocery List” and it’s there for me whenever I’m in the grocery store next! Hopefully this helps YOU as much as YOU’VE helped me!

I have 3 dogs; who hang out in the kitchen or a dog run in the attached garage during the day while I'm working. I just got a baby monitor and that was a game changer- it has a camera on one end and a tablet-like monitor on the other! Now I can see when my clever male has just opened the dog door and about to enter the house, and he is astonished that I know that! It even has a talk function. Fabulous. Yes, funny at the end, but I really think it is better to sort laundry by colors and wash in warm not cold. There's a product called "Color Catcher" that also helps for mixed loads. I do most laundry on one day, sorting roughly by color, and also do a separate load of underwear to wash on hot. Then hang delicates, and all else can be dried. Fold loads coming out of the dryer. The next day, iron any shirts that were hung and ensure everything is put away. If there is too much bedding can be done on the next day, especially once a quarter to wash bed protectors, blankets, and comforters. I have not graduated to doing laundry on cold since warm or hot kills viruses. But warm requires the clothes to be sorted by color! And I guess cold sometimes does too :-).

I actually got lucky and found one on the side of the road. It’s a shark rotator. I brought it home and tested it out, and let me tell you! It’s amazing!! Idk why the people threw it out but I’m glad I found it! I don’t like having to pull out my big corded vacuum everytime I need to vacuum but I love using the shark to spot clean.

What I don’t have are paper file folders. I digitize/scan everything. I have a scan bin and when it gets to the top it’s time to set aside time to binge your videos and scan (cause ADHD I need a preferred activity while I do the boring scan stuff).

My husband and I live in America. We have grocery pick up here. So, when we run out of something we go the the store app and add it to our cart for the week. By the time our grocery pick up day is here, most of the things we need are already in the cart. Helps with budgeting too because you can see exactly what you're spending as you add it to the cart (rather than trying to keep up with it in your head in the store). 😊

I rearranged my stationery chest of drawers and am now able to fit much more in there like the cables, sewing kit, printer paper and tools. Couldn’t believe it. Had to be tough and use the container method. I refurbished the chest, put new handles on it and now the drawers open smoothly. Happy camper. Random cleaning is my go to method now. 😊

One thing we did, that has been so helpful, was to add a large tray ... probably 3 inches deep...that everyone's mail and random stuff gets thrown into. Once a week, I go thru and dispense where everything goes... What a game changer!

I've got all those first ten things already set up in my home and have for many years (even a light bulb and battery section!) but in my opinion my home is not considered a tidy house. SO Ive been thinking ...my problem must be I have too much stuff..STILL! I have been getting rid of ten items per day for 2 years now! Still going. I get up in the morning and panic!TODAY I have to get rid of ten things. Will I be able to find them? .but then it's so easy to find those items that are leaving my home. Great video this week. I was just considering a cordless vacuum!! You've convinced me.

Your 'all out of list' -- I created my own by including the things I buy the most at my favorite grocery. Items were on the list in the order they are at my specific store. It has lines at the end for items at Wal Mart or $ store. I created it on my computer and printed out copies as needed. Did the same for Costco list. I updated the list/computer file as our tastes changed.

I am always tossing stuff because it is so easy. I live the tea bag organizer and the wicker basket for the counter. Have it in my Amazon cart.

@TheGreatLarryPotter2 ай бұрын
Color Catchers can be your new best friend!! If you don’t want to sort your loads, you throw a color catcher in your wash and it’ll prevent any further “mystery dyes”. My aunt who travels a lot and didn’t want to pay for multiple loads of laundry when she was just washing a few items found out about them. They’re super useful!!

I do mini put-aways. Like if I'm going to the bedroom, or bathroom, and passing by a table or counter on my way that has something on it that goes near (or in) the room I'm going to, I pick it up and take it with me and put it away. Doing this several times a day helps keep the clutter down.

After a cancer scare my kid got me a couple of them in the house so I could call if I fell. I use Alexa to add groceries to my grocery list and items on the phone calls I need to make and the supplies I need to reorder on the shopping list. Set a reminder to drink water or to go take a walk or to call the doctor or a refill medicine . It's an elderly person's dream come true and a perfect Christmas gift if the kid installs it for you. I would never go back to paper because I can sit down and Alexa will read the items on the list so I can go and shop and check off the items as I get it done. I'm telling you it's fantabulous❤❤❤

I have 9 of the items the only thing I won’t have is a random basket because everything in my home has a home and if it doesn’t then I either make a home for it or declutter it - I totally agree having an Alexa in each room is a godsend - I control my lights , curtains and shopping lists with them as well as listen to the news and podcasts ( no joke my favourite being clutter bug )

Your landing or drop off zone when you come home reminded me ofmy mom kicking off her shoes at her chair and pulling off her earrings. Every Saturday, when we cleaned the piles got reset and put in the right place. As for memories, I put certificates in a folder. Then, when I was applying for a really big award, all that information was there waiting for me and I got the award! I keep any cords, cables and bricks, (oh, my) with the respective equipment. All the camera parts are in the camera bag, all the computer parts are in the computer bag. This way, everything is ready to go, especially in case of an emergency -- and I've had a lot of them.

Another good way to organise and tidy up batteries is a "battery daddy" - a box that organises all kinds of battery sizes and shapes and also holds them in a way that should help preserve their energy.

I am eternally grateful that 99% of all paperwork is digital where I'm from. So almost no bills in the mail/on paper, all taxes are done online and receipts for company is online etc. It's a shame that more countries are not doing this. Also, I have to say; just started watching your videos among other adhd content creators. I have to admit I get a bit stressed out 😅 I'm listening/watching for inspiration, and I do get that. But the thought of being that active 24/7 and productive all the time, stresses me out.

I have a little case especially for batteries. I am a very messy butterfly, but it has been sooo good to be able to go to the battery case, and know where they will be! It even has a batterie checker in there, and I really feel this was a great thing to have bought. I also have a big basket, under a table by my front door, where my Madge's coats and bits and bobs go in. Also a tray to put the wet umbrella on, and wellies under this table. I live in a small house, with very little space, and my downstairs is open plan, so have to think outside the box when organizing where to put stuff, as I have very little wall space. I have hooks that hang over the door, to hang my coats on. xxx

Enjoy your blue robe and blue towel. They were dyed perfectly. I have both of the vacuums that you talked about. Everyone in the house is allergic to dust. We have a Roomba on a timer that vacuums the wall-to-wall carpeting daily. The light weight cordless vacuum is also a game changer. Due to it's light weight and ease of use, our floors get cleaned frequently. I've watched your 5-sort paper system and have started using it. We have so much paper in our house, it is overwhelming. I am going to watch your paper system video again for a boost of motivation to get through the paper.

I keep a smallish magnetic pad of paper on the fridge to write down things we need as we run out of them. I use that to make my grocery list for the week with all the dinner menus for the week at the top. Then I take it shopping, bring it home and keep it handy and tucked in my key holder on the counter to reference for the dinners in the week, as I’m prepping them/ thawing things out each am.

It is SO important to sort your laundry, as you found out 😁 theres delicate's, light & dark colours if u want your whites to stay white, & ur bright colours to stay lovely & bright, towels are washed separately at a higher temperature I add soda Crystals to get rid of bacteria, & bedding also, the soda crystals also help keep your washing machine clean & free of lime scale.

Video idea: Cas, I love that you have lessons on cleaning and tidying as well as decluttering and organizing. I notice that many organizing influencers are not avid cooks so they are able to keep their kitchens tidy most of the time. I am a massive baker and fancy dinner maker and when I do crafts I have to use the kitchen table because I don’t have a craft or sewing room. Can you do a video on how to manage projects that require a lot of mess while you do them, they may last a day or more and you still have to pick up the kids and feed the family in the middle of it all! Help
