I love this message!! For the past few months my mental health hasn’t been great and one thing I constantly do is compare myself to others not only in achievements but in other aspects like looks. It’s always hard to stop comparing yourself to others , but learning to love yourself and stop “competing” with everyone else is such a big goal of mine 🤞💗

Love the ladder metaphor, I use it all the time. I have MANY flaws but thankfully have never looked down on nor been infatuated with anyone; just live and let live (I think it's a lesson you learn young here in NY).. On an unrelated note you ROCK that hat and look gorgeous in it :D

Interesting idea. I also like the one from Simon and Martina where she talks about building a ladder to help you get out of the depression hole. Each rung is another positive thing you can find to help you get up and out.

Every religion has the eccentrics who take it out of context and use it for their own purposes Catholics and Mormons have cults, Muslims have isis etc, etc. That includes the people who use religion as a reason to spread fear and hate. It doesn't mean everyone of that religion is part of the those toxic groups.

Amen Colette! Ive never heard this analogy ....but I love it and will be writing it in my journal and teaching it to my children! This is something ive been working really hard on! I thought I was a really humble, loving of everyone person- until my daughters young women president began putting them down and the guirls began ignoring them etc. And we still aren't sure why. I realized that I definitely thought I was " higher on the ladder " from her because even though she has lots of money and a big house ands a thrilling career etc- I actually thought I was better because I didn't treat people the way she treats .everyone and I didn't have the bad attitude she has...... aand then I realized wow look at what im doing by thinking that- im literally thinking I'm better than her when her whole attitude is she is better than everyone ands I was so saddened by her behavior etc and then I realized I was having the same attitude towards her .by thinking I was better because I didn't act like that- yet I was pretty much acting like that in my head lol! It opened up a whole new lesson I needed to study about and learn about and change! Now im in the process of learning ti just let go and love her. Pray for her ands show love through my actions and behaviors aand also in my own thoughts etc. I was believing that she was on top of the ladder ands so proud of it.... aand I truly thought that I was basically in my thoughts- pushing her down from the top ands climbing over her to that next rung because I didn't behave like that and I was a nicer more loving and forgiving person that she was- yet I wasn't loving and forgiving her. It's pretty crazy the lessons we learn and the better versions of ourselves we become even we have to learn to forgive even when it hurts so much. Thank you so much for sharing this Colette! - jl

You are so pure of heart and live your family so much it’s inspirational !!! In fact for years you have neglected your happiness in the pursuit of keeping everyone else “happy” but you are worthy of being loved and appreciated! Also what a positive message to sent to your girls ..You are worth more than the the price a man puts on n you! If you are treated badly and they refuse to change it is not good enough and as women you must find happiness in life and a partner who truly appreciates and lives you 🙏 It also teaches your boys that women are not the property or their husband and as a man you must love and respect your partner. Especially important in the strict religious beliefs of the LDS where men are seen as more powerful and calif than women . It shows us all that preaching about it ..going to church ..buying nice expensive things is not what life is about and self serving ...abusive actions and a belief of “I am better than everyone” destroys your life and that of your lives ones

Saying you don't judge, especially yourself, is so easy to say, but when it comes to actually achieving it, can take a lifetime... The problem is, when you are in a bad spot, you know you have to do better. Then the better you get, the more you forget what got you there... It is so easy to fall into that loop. Judging others is worse, because you do it before you even realize...or you want to... Love you guys, I've watched for many years, you have really inspired me!!!! Take it easy...

Nice metaphor. I've thought about it in a similar way. For me though that ladder represents another rung to climb. Always. For me I'm always looking and searching for that next thing, never satisfied with what's in front of me. I try to make a conscious effort to think about this and be satisfied with what I have.

We learned this technique in psychology! We also were taught another way of looking at “getting off your ladder” which was analyzing someone’s behavior. For instance, if someone was being rude or mean to you, instead of immediately thinking “Wow, this person is a jerk”, you can “climb down the ladder” and think of what may have influenced their behavior, such as personal issues that they are dealing with that day/week/etc. This technique definitely has helped me become more open minded and less judgemental towards others! I love the way you were taught this metaphor and your viewpoint of it! Thanks for being so positive Colette 💕
