Just want to leave my own experience too: dont expect to improve every day. Changing your routines is really hard for some people, especially if you engraved them into your everyday life. But you gotta keep going and trying if you want to undo the bad ones.

Good shit brother. Manifest excellence, reject mediocrity. Play a different game. To not lead a mediocre life you need to live a different way, you need to set huge goals and if you can work hard on them every single day it's no longer a question of if you'll achieve them but when you do

I really feel bad for young people who don’t know what life was like before the internet age. It was truly awesome. You’re all so wounded and wrapped up in yourselves. Even making this video is probably not good for you.

I think trying to do this routine everyday will make someone burn out quickly. I think it’s good to build habits up from 5 minutes a day to an 1 hour or whatever amount of time you want it to be. starting off with these hard days will make people quit early on
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
I guess its different for different people, for me this has always worked. I think it takes some steps to remedy burnout. The two "work blocks," are more about what you can do that you think is productive. Sometimes what I deem to be most productive is just spending a few hours reading, or taking a nap, or watching some educational videos

Don't you eat breakfast? And where do you schedule in time for cooking meals, grocery shopping, cleaning, and all the other general chores of everyday life?
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
nah I don't eat breakfast, I find I work better fasted. At like 5pm, after I've done my work. General chores can be done in one of the two work slots, they count as work
@mixedsignalspresets6 ай бұрын
@@TomHurls Oh I see. So it's not made for people actually going to a workplace during the day then, but more for self employed or people with light work from home jobs, or people living at home with their parents?
@mixedsignalspresets6 ай бұрын
I just saw you responded to a similar question (schedule these days on free days or around your work schedule). To be honest, I think I should just stop watching "self improvement" videos and try finding a new job that doesn't grind me down... Cheers man.
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
haha maybe, I guess it's different for everyone, perhaps the takehome then is just to have some sort of structure/routine in your life, whatever that may look like. Even if it's just a morning and evening routine before and after work.

i'm wondering: what do you do in the 15 minutes between waking up and meditating? and how the hell do you not fall back asleep while doing it?
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
haha, I don't really know, I kind of just gave myself 15 minutes to do each thing so that I never felt rushed, often I'll start the thing before a bit earlier if I'm ready. I kind of just lie in bed and go over what i have to do that day haha

Never understood why it's"wasting your life" when you sleep from 4am to noon instead of 10 pm to 6 pm. Its the same hours but the one thing is seen as lazy.
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
It's the same hours but they're different hours and it's how you use those hours. The mornings feel austere, they're quiet, you wake up with purpose and you can get things done, you have full energy and no distraction. Contrast that with staying up late, there's the same quietness but you've lived a whole day, you're drained, tired, often lacking in motivation, the likely outcome is you'll spend the whole time watching TV or scrolling, that's what 99% of people up at 4am are doing

great video, just an FYI though, skipping breakfast is a really, really harmful thing to do. starting the day with a healthy breakfast is important to keep your energy levels up until lunch, otherwise you'll be tempted by unhealthy snacks when your stomach starts rumbling. I eat whole grain bread with peanut butter and Hummus, an egg and a banana every morning.

what do you think about playing video games?
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
not ideal. it's a replacement for real human community and competition. look, if you can control it, play it with your friends, use it as a way to socialise, after you've done your work for a couple hours a week, no harm done, but like with everything, once it becomes a dependence, an obsession, you're lost.

You can't do this with a full time job :(
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
not exactly this but you can work the routine around the job. Think of this more like a weekend routine and then the days when you work shift it. The work I did for the past year was restaurant work so I was lucky enough that I'd work in the evenings and be able to do this during my days, but say you work a traditional 9-5 you can still get up at 6, work 6.30-8 on your purpose then work 6pm-9.30pm again or something similar.

@TomHurls yea but i mean i absolutely hate having any form of routine :p just having a schedule for school gave me depression for 4 years then i dropped out X3
@TomHurls6 ай бұрын
that is true, and whatever works for you is obviously what you should do , but I'll just say so we don't scare anyone off, I often find that when I create my own routines, they don't feel as constrictive as the routines say in school. The key difference is now, I choose everything on my routine myself, it acts more as a reminder to do the things I enjoy, like run or meditate, than as an overbearing thing forcing me to do them
