Love your channel, and you! I too have vintage machines. I wish they had odometers on them just to keep track of the mileage on them. I now know where to send my vintage patterns when I pass so they will not wind up in the dumpster! My mom bought me my first brand new machine for my high school graduation. I cried…tears of joy. I had grown up using a child’s sewing machine…hand crank…until I started Junior High School in the 7th grade. Then I started using my Mom’s Singer Featherweight. Loved that machine. One of my sisters as a toddler pulled it off the “card table” in the mid 60s and broke off the bobbin winder. So I always used the Singer winding my own bobbins. My new machine (1970 vintage) had a bobbin winder that worked! My Jr High class had two treadle machines-single treadle and one double treadle-three with foot pedals and the teachers machine…with a knee lift! I already knew a bit about sewing so I used them all and I was allowed to use the Teacher’s machine! I made two dresses that year in class. I will not admit to how many machines I own now…not in writing…but, they all still run smoothly! (Two are treadle machines)…And I still have my graduation present! Vintage vs new machines? Depends on what your task is…love your style.

I’m still finding more of your videos to enjoy. They help make doing chores nicer. I’m with you on the vintage sewing machines. I have 3, and that’s plenty for me! The quality is excellent-even the “feel “ seems better-the operation is smoother than some newer machines I’ve tried. I do have my mom’s 2009 Singer Tradition. It’s much lighter and more portable than my 1950s/60s Singer 401A or my 1911 Class 66 Red Eye. Happy sewing 🧵!

@Sewrena Hey girl! I LOVE your channel and share it with all my vintage loving gf's and bc I have a very mixed array of friends, my friends of color have TOTALLY fallen in love with you and several have been brought to tears seeing a woman like them living the vintage life like they want to...one who looks like them. Representation means so much truly. I also REALLY love the fact you don't get hung up on perfection as much as overall impression. You're wholesome and homegrown and CLASSY but not overly bougie like some of these influencer folks seem to think ppl want. Nope, you're real...you're gorgeous and talents and I absolutely love your style. I only have one little request. Can you do an in-depth special on your children's clothing patterns and such? Like showcase a whole wardrobe or key pieces you really love or have had the most compliments on with the babies or tips for sewing the smaller patterns or etc. A glimpse of gorgeous this and that's for the littles is not enough for some of us. My friends bring this up often that they'd love to see more of the children's clothing as much as the rest of it. I love it all period. Keep doing the dang thing darlin' :)

@@SewRena definitely! I think people would love to see patterns for John John’s jumpers for little boys. I used to get them years ago for my nephew at a place called Chocolate Soup here in Atlanta. It’s been closed for a long time now. They are so hard to find, but I was able to find some for my son (Plus, the ones from my nephew that I packed away and saved ) during the mid 2000s and they are next to impossible to find today.

@@magnus466are you familiar with Childrens Corner patterns out of Nashville? They remind me of Chocolate Soup style. If you don’t sew, you could find someone online to custom make some things. John Johns ( Childrens Corner calls them Johnnys) are a very popular style for bpth vintage and current styles.

You're a true gem! YES!!!! I LOVE the fact you said and acknowledged the fact you're GROWN!!! Hate to seem this way but especially as a woman, we are told still what is "best". We as HUMANS have our own minds. Our own likes and dislikes. Our own OPINION!!! Stay you!!! Always!!!!! For different reasons ive been told to fit into a box. That im basically not fitting the mold. Im a sis female, married to a sis male. Ive had women expect and judge me for not being the "typical" woman. Im not! I never will be!!!! Im just saying....BE YOU!!!!!

I just watched your video about making a 1960's frocktail. Such a cute idea and very well done. As a costumer who looks for the right fabrics, I did want to give you a warning. Maybe you already know. If so, please ignore and go on with your day. I try to stay away from home decor fabrics for a couple of reasons. One is the flame-retardant chemicals that are often a part of the manufacturing process as well as the rodent inhibitors. Not something we want to wear. The other is fiberglass. There are so many fabrics that have hidden fiberglass in draperies. I just wanted to share this with you. Blessings to you!

I think I joined your channel around 51k or so. I'm just getting around to watching this, and I thank you immensely. I truly believe that you, and others, are practicing and furthering an extremely valuable cultural service in keeping sewing, especially vintage, alive and well. My mom used to sew on her 70's Kenmore machine! I'm also totally fascinated with the skill and knowledge you share. I can't even imagine actually sewing my own clothes! I'm a guy, and a doctor, and all the lingo, jargon, and shortcuts you're so adept with simply awes me. Your entire philosophy about vintage, your work ethic, and dedication to this channel and to yourself are a true inspiration. Your videos always bring me a smile, just as you do by being yourself. Please don't ever stop!

My Mom sewed many Day and Sunday dresses in the ‘50’s thru ‘60’s. She wore a 22w-24w (I believe that’s a 2x-3x) She sewed many A-line belted dresses. She was in her 40’s and didn’t care for the full skirts. Many plus sized women that I remember liked that style. She alway wore gloves, hats and jewelry to accessorize her beautiful dresses. So there are some plus sized patterns out there.
