Don’t be deceived. I lived there among the common folks for six years, and it there is one thing I learned is that everybody “appears” to be friendly, and to like you, but it isn’t true. Filipinos do not betray their true feeling’s and personality. One one of my first days living and working in the Philippines as a school teacher, one of my coworkers, a British teacher said to be, “Never forget that nothing is as it seems here”, and I was to eventually learn the hard way how absolutely correct he was. Don’t learn the hard way. The Philippines is not the West. A smile, and flattery does not mean that someone likes you. In fact, they may hate your guts, but you will get the same smile, and flattery. Everything has a purpose in the Philippines. There is no gain in someone showing you their true feelings, but there may very well be some gain in showing something that is not real. The more they stand to gain, the more they will appear to like, and admire you. Everyone wants to know you, and appear to be your friend. In fact, strangers will approach you and ask if they can be your friend. Within a day of meeting you, many people will introduce you to others as their “best” friend. Others will introduce you to others as “like their son”, or “like their brother”. For God’s sake don’t believe it for a minute (although you, as a Westerner will desperately want to), because their next step will be to ask to borrow money. How can you refuse to lend or to believe someone who is your best friend, your brother, or your second mother or father. How cold hearted can you be, especially when their sister or child is dying, and they beg with tears in their eyes? This, my friends is the real Filipino behind the mask.

Hey Brian my dear friend, wow! What a large market, so much to choose from. I'm sure that just about everything there is pretty fresh. I know that I would get lost in that market but, that's not a bad thing. It's really good that they are building to improve the place. I remember when part of that market burned down. And, I am still amazed on how friendly the Filipino people are. I have received more hello's in the 1 year and 3 months that I have been living in the Philippines, than I have received 10 years in the states. I'm sure that market has some interesting sounds and smells. I just love the Philippines. Thank you Brian my dear friend for sharing this awesome video. Please stay safe and healthy, and God bless you, lot, Borges, Miguel, Hannah grace, Bing Bing(Sam), Reynalyn, Reynalyn's daughter, Adrian, and the rest of your beautiful family. And may God bless Batchoy, B-2, Rocky, Mama Earl, and little snow always.😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Yes, Baguio, which is located 50 miles to the north in the cool pine tree clad mountains, where conditions are perfect for growing vegetables, strawberries, and water melon, all introduced to the Philippines by the Americans in the very early 1900s.

I was watching another couple in Dumaguete. The wife said she didn’t like her husband with her when she was shopping in the market because, having a foreigner with her, the vendors often would ask a higher price. I always understood skin tax for foreigners but I never knew spouses suffered the same. Does Lut ever have the same experience?

This is by far both the largest and cleanest market I have ever seen in the Philippines. It did not exist when I lived in the Philippines. Note the lack of flies. In my day, every outdoor markets was unindented with clouds of flies, and the horrible smell of decaying meat was overwhelming. By the way, Filipinos do not mind flies on their food. One never minds that which is normal.

By the way, if you are looking for a “good girl” as a girlfriend, or maid, this is the place to go, unless you are willing to travel to “the Provinces”, where you will find even more conservative girls. For instance, I met my maid in Suriguo del Sur, in northern Mindanao, where I was the first foreigner she had ever spoken to. Amazing place. Everywhere I went everyone in sight was staring at me with their mouths open. I observed one girl so intent upon me while walking that she ran into a telephone pole. At one point I was invited by a Catholic nun to tour her girl’s high school, where I caused a riot. This is the real provinces for you.

Huge market. The huge Carbon Market in Cebu City is undergoing a "modernization" of sorts with new multi-storied buildings going up for the vendors, allowing wider streets. My thought is who is going to walk up 2-3 floors to get those goods and carry them back down.

Please take us for a walk over to the old military cemetery a block or two over from Fields Ave. This was originally the cemetery for Fort Stotsenburg, a US Army post first established in Angeles City in 1903. There you will find headstones of soldiers, teamsters, and other Army employees, and families. It wasn’t until almost twenty years later, that Clark Airfield came about. I’d also like to be shown around the old iconic Fort Stotsenburg front gates, parade ground where many a horse polo match was played by officers (only officers were allowed to play), and museum, if it still exists. It’s extremely historical. I haven’t seen there since before the base was turned over to the Philippines. If the museum still exist, you may still see the display of soldiers diaries from the very early 1900s, which contain certain words which are extremely politically incorrect today.

Everyone likes hanging out with gay people in the Philippines, where they are admired. Males gays enjoy dressing, talking, and jestering like females, while female gays dress, talk, walk, and smoke like males. You will see some of the most stunning, droolingly beautiful, pant invoking girls in the world with male gays as their boyfriends. I found the same to be true in Belize, by the way, and was so jealous that I could hardly see straight.

Note the sign at the building site, stating, “No Parking Any Time “, surrounded by dozens of parked motor cycles. Laws are not enforced unless there is significant enough gain in for the police officer to make it worth his trouble. After all, no police officer is going to work for free. Now, if one of those motor cycles belonged to Brian, who as a foreigner is rich, a police officer would be right on, hard at work extorting him out of a tidy sum.
