Hi, Ali, I really like this salad! I made it for my book group meeting and it was a great success! I made one alteration: instead of Sriracha sauce, I used Viet Nam garlic chili sauce. For me, it has a more asian flavor and a little brighter heat. Thanks again for a splendid dish! Peg

Hi Ali! I love that you are sharing more vegan recipes! I'm wondering what makes this recipe Thai? As far as I know, the only Thai dishes I can think of that use peanut sauce (which I assumed you had swapped in with almonds instead of peanuts) is satay-but I always see people naming dishes as "Thai Noodles with Peanut Sauce" or "Asian Noodles with Peanut Sauce" which drives me nuts (hah! Pun was not intended but I like it). It's like boiling pasta, adding some tomato sauce, and calling it Italian. There is so much more to Italian cuisine than that-the same can be said for Thai cuisine.
@sundaybest278 жыл бұрын
What would make this dish Thai if you were making it, Lisa?
@Thevietvegan8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't make this dish Thai at all. I'd probably just call it quinoa and zucchini noodle salad with spicy almond butter sauce. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@GetInspiralized8 жыл бұрын
There's a spicy Thai hot sauce used (a hot chili sauce) as well as the peanut-themed sauce as you mentioned (which I switched up with almond butter.) The combination of ingredients, as well - veggies, cilantro, scallions, and things of that nature! It's definitely a westernized Thai dish!

I hear what your saying. Thai cooks if ever rarely use sesame oil..that's more Chinese and or Japenese style... It would be more appropriate to say "Asian Inspired" but Thai cooks usually almost always hit these points of taste...sour, sweet, salty, spicy hot... when these four flavors are met..it's more Thai ...the salt usually comes from fish sauce which is one of the most predominant ingredients in good Thai dishes. Dishes without this one flavor in particular rarely taste authentic.

In your more recent video with the fajita bowls you put the bell pepper on the inspiralizer the opposite way, where the bottom of the pepper is attached to the teeth end and the top is against the blade. Which way is best? It seems like with the top of the pepper hitting the blade first, you get less seeds since they're mostly left in the bottom after removing the seeds from earlier.

Looks really yummy! Will be making it soon. One helpful idea would be for you to snip your veggies as they are coming out of the spiralizer? Just a suggestion. Am looking forward to giving this recipe a try!
