3:07 Betty Brant was actually Peters first relationship in the comic, classic High School romance that didn't last long and ended with Betty and Peter becoming friends. Peter's first serious relationship began in College when he met Gwen Stacy in *The Amazing Spider-Man #31 (December 1965)* while MJ was introduced a year later when Aunt May introduced Peter to MJ for the first time in *The Amazing Spider-Man #42 (November 1966).* MJ had a small cameo in *The Amazing Spider-Man #25 (June 1965)* but her face was covered but in the same panel Betty stated that MJ looked like a "Screen Star".

Widely thought of as one of the best super hero films of all time for many years (The competition wasn't as strong as today given) it has so much heart & it really is more a Peter Parker story than Spider-Man. Alfred Gogh & Miles Miller (then of "Smallville" & today Netflix "Wednesday" were responsible for story elements)
@LittleGalaxyBoy11 ай бұрын
That's why Liv being revealed to be Doc Ock in Into the Spider-Verse was so shocking to us fans as in the comics along with 99% of renditions, Doctor Otto Octavius has always been a male character. So for her to be revealed to be the Doc Ock was a really fun surprise. If you look closely when Spider-Gwen is reveals you can see a short scene of her fighting a male Doc Ock in her universe, pretty sure Peter B Parker as well can be seen fighting him in his intro video, can see a metal tentacle. For this film they kind of pulled from both the mainline Earth-616 Otto and the Earth-1610 the Ultimate Universe Otto, Ultimate Universe began in 2000 so extremally fresh and new when these films came out. Miles from the film is from Earth-1610B so they made a little retcon so that the films don't overlap with the comics. In the comics Miles Morales of Earth-1610 has a male Doc Otto, Movie Miles from Earth-1610B has Liv who we assume is the original Doc Ock. The mainline Doc Ock was your standard villain with no real connection to Spider-Man or Oscorp. But in the Ultimate Universe in the 2000s Otto worked for Oscorp. Otto was badly hurt in an accident at Oscorp when an explosion fused the brace holding the tentacles to his skin making him unable to remove the tentacle arms. Ultimate Ock also rocked a really cool trench coat an element used for this film. The idea of Harry funding Otto's in this film is kind of similar to the Ultimate Universe just instead of working for Oscorp he was funded by them. His tentacles in the film though are closer to his mainline Earth-616 counterpart as in the Ultimate Universe there chrome and high tech looking.

Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina are tied for the top slot when it comes to movie interpretations of comic book villains. Their portrayals of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, respectively are well done and written. I love the pop culture icon actors in this movie Ted Raimi, Sam Raimi's brother (Hoffman)....best known as Joxer from Xena: Warrior Princess. Bruce Campbell (the wrestling announcer in the first movie and the snooty ass usher in this movie) is best known as Autolycus on Xena: Warrior Princess and Ash from Ash VS The Evil Dead. Emily Deschanel (The receptionist who tells Peter that the pizza delivery is late), best known as Dr. Temperance Brennan from Bones. and Elizabeth Banks (Betty Brant), who later plays Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games film series and Rita Repulsa in the 2017 Power Rangers movie.

Most of these KZbin genre/critic/watchalong folks are at most 35, which means they were born around 1989's "Batman." So if they were into something else at the time of their youth--say, "Star Wars" or "Potter," it's easy to believe that many skipped whole franchises. Me, I didn't see "Fast & Furious" until film No. 5. I didn't see Bond in the theater until Pierce. So it's possible. What's crazy to me is that I subscribed to Wizard magazine in the 1990s, and most of the stuff we've had movie-wise for the last 23 years was better than I could dream.

Lovely reaction - German and Japanese?! - so many wonderful films from those countries - Kurosawa would be popular on this site - you could do a whole series on him, w a reaction for Yojimbo, and then its Spaghetti Western remake Fistful of Dollars, as a double-bill - also do Wings of Desire and M in German - a Wenders series maybe - Spidey2 is often spoken of as a perfect superhero film, along w X2 and Dark Knight, tho I agree Part 1 is more re-watchable - this one best shows Petey as the belegured Charlie Brown of superheroes, which is very true to the source material - that classic Raindrops sequence is like our Last Temptation of Spidey moment, where we all envision him enjoying the life he might have had - and so there's this big impact at the very end of this film when things finally go right for him - love that elated yelp you gave when MJ chose Petey

The scene of Peter walking down the alley, and his costume in the trash was taken directly from the comic book cover, of the "Spiderman No More" storyline. Hal Sparks is the man who meets Spider-Man inside the elevator (and compliments him on his Spidey outfit). He played "Michael Novotny" from Queer as Folk (1999), a gay man obsessed with comics and superheroes, who'd always dreamed of meeting one on the show. In the Spidey comics, Jonah Jamiesons son John becomes the character Man-Wolf.

That being said I wonder if she will watch the other Spider-Man films after this Sam Raimi trilogy and reach the conclusion most people say, and I agree with, that this still is the best Spider-Man live action film. Honestly I'd advice to drop the Andrew Garfield films and go straight to MCU Tom Holland and the Spiderverse animated ones. The first Amazing Spider-Man is passable but the second is a straight out mess. What gets better with the films are the action scenes of Spider-Man swinging and fights but that's the technology, better cgi, crazier camera moves and stuff.

Im still really disappointed with the ending of this movie, Mary Jane is the worst kind of woman and she should honestly be single forever. She went from dating Peter's bully and cheating on Harry in the first movie to emotional manipulating her "friend" and then leaving her fiance at the alter in this movie, Peter could do a lot better. I honestly think Ursula was a far superior girl in this film, it seemed like the worse things got for Peter the more she wanted to be there for him. Not to mention she's also a lot prettier than Mary Jane, and has an adorable personality.

While there are quite a few elements of this film that haven't aged the best It still makes for an entertaining watch. However I still after all those years I will never be on board with how Mary Jane is depicted in these films and the relationship between this version of Peter and Mary Jane is unbearably toxic. I also hate that they end all three of the films with her having to be rescued again and again. I'm also not a fan of the tentacles being the ones colouring control of Otto and yet they are still trying to rebuild the machine. Why do they care about sustainable energy, they are sentient objects? Doctor Octopus is one of the most complex villains in all of comics and here his main goal seems really underwhelming in comparison.
