Your video today has caught me from disordered eating. I had a recent assault and had started to refrain from eating as a way of control or feeling control after what happened. Your words about how food reminded me that it is a type of connection. And I am so extremely grateful to you for this video.

Same here! Got super triggered by other people on KZbin (models etc.) and Maddy actually showing a very healthy, very normal way of eating and also pointing out that calorie counting (also something that really triggered me) doesn’t really work for everybody reminded me that just eating Whole Foods and listening to your body might lead to a better and happier day to day life. Thank you so much for that!

I have been trying to avoid processed foods and enjoying cooking from scratch this year. Makes such positive advice. As someone who has followed all the mad, bad, fad and sad dietary advice through the years it's so refreshing getting back to good, nourishing meals. ♥

Hi Maddy. I agree it was such a great podcast. The one thing that stuck with me from the podcast is everyone is different. He mentioned a person from Europe's blood sugar would not spike after eating a pastry for breakfast but someone from another geographic area did(he was referencing a study). Just reminds me that I have to focus on what I am doing and not what other people are doing.

Yes I agree! There is so much nuance and he is very balanced and open minded about nutrition which is refreshing and not controversial at all despite people online being frustrated by his comments!

Wheats are different around the world. I'm from the US and I have many friends who can eat bread if they go to Europe but not if the eat it here. Our wheat has been so processed/hybridized etc, that our systems can't handle it.

Another rice cake lover! I love them because they're such a blank slate - you can put anything on them - and because they're just the right size for a small snack. Add one or two more and you have an easy, quick, healthy meal. And you can't beat that crunch!

Definitely agree with you that everyone is different and we need to do what feels good, and is healthy and sustainable for OUR lives not what others are doing for themselves We are so quick to judge ourselves harshly for relaxing and taking things slow sometimes or breaking free from our normal routines We don't have to be living life so fast paced

Thanks for the motivation! This vlog really resonated with me as I have the same intention for New Year. I’ve chosen to listen to myself more this year and not spend each day routinely and do more what I feel like doing in the moment. I am a bit of a perfectionist and at times try too hard to fit everything in and do things when I sometimes don’t want to. I’m finding it really freeing to listen to myself more and do what I feel like doing in the moment. I also listened to the podcast you mentioned and that also resonated with me as we eat a vegetarian Mediterranean diet - very plant based. Some really interesting podcasts on Diary of a CEO. Excellent vlog as always! You are very inspiring 🙏

Loved this video, especially when you touched on not limiting yourself on your foods - whether that be vegetables or chocolate etc. I'm the same with not meal planning, I can't be that meticulous with food as it gives me too much restriction on what I'm having. I might meal prep a chilli for the next 3 days for lunch but waking up the next day I just want fajitas! Really would love to see more of your food shops and the meals you're planning on doing with them - it gives for inspiration!

I resonated so much with your intentions! I have too been indulging in a little bit more vegan processed foods and more "beige" meals in 2022, because I was so excited to try all the new vegan options and taste everything, which was good. But I genuinely want to start thinking again about what I put on my plate and eat more whole foods, more veg - now that I am healed from disordered eating and in a safe place where I'm not restricting and compulsively reading labels and stressing over additives etc. :)

Hello! I haven't listened to this podcast, but I'm definitely going to listen to it. I imagine it upset people because everyone's situation is different. From money to living in areas where "food deserts" exist. And what's immediately available unfortunately is processed food or fast food. I definitely agree with the sentiment of eating more whole foods, but it's definitely a privilege that ranges from economic to racial.
@MadeleineOlivia2 жыл бұрын
The main reason people were upset was his comments on calorie counting and exercise not helping you lose weight. But 100% agree with you! It’s so complex and definitely a huge privilege. I really wish it wasn’t. It should be a human right!

Beautifully edited ^_^ ur words are so wise and motivating :) i started in December to be mindful of eating more whole foods and less processed foods. I feel so much better for it and still get to have treat meals and my fav foods. I dont calorie count but just mindful of what I consume as on a healthy lifestyle change. I started fitness classes in August and have got into routine on which classes I enjoy. I started with pilates and yoga, now more into Zumba because dancing makes me feel good xD Circuits and cycling are great too. Especially because the cycling class i go to does a general quiz each session so doesnt feel like exercise haha

Hi Maddie, you probably won't see this, but just regarding the processed foods/Calories I agree with what you're saying as I lost loads of weight from counting calories but have now gained it all back. I've recently being diagnosed with PCOS and food is a good way of healing your body from PCOS, and rice cakes really aren't good for you. I know you said you like them but any material about PCOS, Diabetes or insulin resistance says rice cakes are very processed and will spike your blood sugar so much and are best to avoided if you want to avoid extremely processed foods

Or get ETB with sensor and just hold on each tooth. And please don't ignor the light in the brush. What most often the patien need to learn is less is enough. And of course floss minimum ones a day. If you can floss after every meal even better. If you just use the brush what you can clean is just 50% and where us the other half? Balance we need balance everywhere in life.

Great vlog, I've recently discovered you and am loving your videos. Tim Spector definitely says a lot of great stuff about gut microbiome, eating more plants etc but has said a few questionable things over the years too, I'm thinking especially about what he has said about diet "treating" autism, as the parent of an autistic daughter autism isn't something you can treat or would even want to, autism is beautiful and the autistic community don't want to be told they have an illness that needs treating. So yes, he says a lot of great things but he's definitely a controversial figure
