Absolutely hit the nail on the head. At 63,I realize I have a very limited amount of quality time left on my life clock. So I’m taking better care of myself inside and out to make sure the time I have left I can physically do what I want.

John, my sincere condolences for your loss. But truthfully, getting older doesn't have to suck. Every year I feel like I get a year younger. I don't consider calendar years. Age is just the sum total of your physical condition, condition of your mind, and how you look and feel. So many people today are committing a slow death from destructive lifestyle habits - unhealthy nutrition, lack of physical exercise, vises like drinking, smoking, drugs, etc. Seriously a person can be reborn again, with vitality and vigor with with proper lifestyle choices.

As the expression goes, youth is wasted on the young. Constantly regretting risks not taken or reflecting on past failures will drive you to madness. Do what you can in the present to be your best-it’s a noble goal and is truly all you can possibly do.

Lots of people don’t get the opportunity to get older. Make the most of every day. Not promised tomorrow. Great point about those of us with more time behind us than in front of us. But in reality that is an assumption because unfortunately not everyone lives into their 70’s or 80’s. They guy who is 20 doesn’t realize a heart condition not diagnosed will kill him I’m a few years. One day at a time and make the most of each trip around the sun😁

i never thought it possible but im pretty happy in my 50s. It seems all the dumb stuff faded away and i became the person i could be and wanted to be. Knowing im in the last third of my life, i appreciate things more, let things slide much easier and enjoy each day more instead of the constant worry when you are younger about a million different things

Well done, I appreciate your thoughts. I lost all 3 brothers. The oldest when I was 17 to suicide. The second oldest at 32 to brain cancer, and my younger twin at 46 to malpractice/heart attack (he was in a care home, he had cerebral palsy that got worse as he got older, long story). It can be overwhelming, but I think of them as well as my parents long passed as well, as 'My Posse'. I also volunteered in Oncology for a year at the Childrens Hospital, and I've always tried to look at is 'I could be a five year old Orphan in Haiti or somewhere'. Stay busy, try to be productive, not easy, but all we can do is try. Best wishes everyone, keep your heads up!

Good stuff, good sir. At 57 going on 58, and in this post pandemic situation, the losses were brutal. My best friend of 35 years passed away 3 years ago and then another dear friend 2 years ago this month with several in between. I learned early in life, 38-40's to do what you hit upon in this one. Yes, life changes us and how we embrace it matters. Thanks for the reminders John, you are doing us all a service.

I lost my father in May and it's really given me a kick up the backside to start living and getting out of my comfort zone. I'm definitely guilty of getting stuck in the same old routine of get up early, gym, work, watch tv, bed and repeat. Since then though, I'm really trying to push myself to try new things. I've started going to the theatre, gigs and even hot yoga (in fact i'm even going on a yoga retreat-something that I never would have considered before-especially as someone who has social anxiety!) Oh, and a skydive! Making sure I book more travel to see more of the world too. It's an old cliche but, life really is too short and sometimes you need something horrible to happen to inspire something wonderful going forward. And yes, not all of things I try I'll like, in fact i'm sure somethings i'll probably hate but, at least i'll have tried and that's better than doing nothing at all. Thanks John for all the continued great content on your channel 🙏🏻

John! You know I love you man,, but I think that as a 51yo with grown up kids, I'm seeing more to life. I take on a lot of the joys and sadness that my 20 something y/o kids go through.. It adds another viewpoint that enhances my perception of what is important in life. Getting older ain't all that bad, it's just an attitude adjustment. I Always appreciate the commentary my friend. Everyone has their own journey, and I'm glad that you are a part of mine. Cheers Paul.

Thanks for making this video. I just hit the big 5-0 yesterday. It still feels weird, but at the same time, I felt more overwhelmed when I hit 30 and 40. Yesterday, I thought, "For being 50, I look young; my blood-sugar levels are low; my T-levels are good, and I'm getting into shape. Plus, I'm uprooting next week and am looking forward to new adventures. And if you're curious, I treated myself to a suede bomber jacket from Banana Republic, a pair of Johnston & Murphy leather sneakers, and some more Anson Belts (the later, I learned about through your channel.)

Very solid topic for today's video. Im only in my mid 30s, but I do feel like I'm aging. My parents both deal with health issues that really put perspective on how much time we really have left being active in our lives. I also recently found out that one of my cousins passed away and it makes me think about how my family overall is aging. At the end of the day all we can do is to do the best we can for as long as we can.

Exactly! I’m S as Mercian born Japanese and own a gym, been active n fit all my life. You’d think my lifestyle and Japanese heritage would project me into a fit lifestyle well into my 80’s. Jan this year I had my right upper lobe removed for cancer. (30 minutes prior to my surgery, Jan 23rd I was watching and responding to one of John’s videos) then 3 months later, April 23rd I had a pacemaker installed! Both unrelated and absolutely no symptoms! I look good and feel good.. little would you think I have these issues lurking. Never smoked, but heart issues and cancer have taken my Dad, Mom and 2 brothers. I’ll do my part, at least until my crypto pays off! lol 😂

Getting older is a tradeoff. You should have gained enlightenment and learned to become more efficient with everything you do. When you're young, your body is in a state where it can survive your mistakes. When you're older, you can't afford to make the same mistakes as when you were younger.

Hi John, at age 72, life for me, is magnificent!! I do 20 minutes of yoga each day (yoga with Adrienne on youtube is great!), I am 6 feet tall and weigh 175 pounds, I started playing guitar 4 years ago to engage my brain and help my cognition and love it, I still work 3 1/2 days per week, and plan to continue, it keeps me on a schedule and engaged in life, and I take numerous vitamins and supplements that my girlfriend (she is a nutritionist, and dietition), has for me, in addition to eating only organic foods and wild caught fish and grass fed meat, and I feel great!! In fact, I have people tell me I look like I am 60 years old, a good thing for the ego. My key, in addition to staying active, is to stay positive, find a spiritual side that helps get over challenges, and eliminate drama and those people that cause stress. Anyone can do this, but it takes effort, and I find many friends of mine won't exert the effort to take care of themselves, and what a shame. Keep up with your videos, they are excellent and thank you for all you do for us guys.

It’s interesting, when you ask someone of an advanced age..perhaps mid 90’s…about life and being that age, almost all of them will say that what is perhaps most perplexing is that on the inside, they still feel like they might be 24 years old…while in a body that simply does not work as well, surrounded by pains and aches along with endless memories. So it is…I don’t think we ever see ourselves much beyond the point of being out there on your own as Bob Dylan might say…we just transition from scenes that have us portraying different characters while the inside remains the same. One day you are a father…then an empty nester…then perhaps a widower…but still looking out at the world through eyes of a someone that can’t quite believe that this soul is suddenly looking out at the world through the prism of age.

And the worst thing is that I always look back and recall my past and opportunities I ignored. And you always feel like "I would have absolutely different life if I did or did not do.....something in the past. It's a little bit hard to get satisfaction over 40. It is true we all should start doing something new, getting new skills and work on yourself
