This man is a national treasure. I took a seminar from him in Chicago many years ago and have never forgotten his dedication, enthusiasm and depth of knowledge.

This guy's videos, WhyQuit, the forums and his articles inspired me to quit without NRT or meds and have supported me in staying abstinent and Joel is absolutely right in everything he says. It's been a year since I quit, after 20 years of smoking, and i check in with his site once every 2 or 3 of months and watch a video to reinforce. I love this guy and the generosity of all those who contribute to the site- it really saved my life . Thank you Joel.

I quit a month and half ago after hitting 65 and being a 50-year smoker. Because of this site, I learned how nicotine addiction works and why it's essential to quit cold turkey. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this site and all the useful info provided by Joel and John. You guys saved me from getting COPD like my Dad and Granddad. I now feel equipped to resist the inevitable urges to smoke.. Thanks so much. Chuck

Joel cheers mate - you were so much of a guide. 2 weeks now - craved 25 times as per my app - QuitFree. In the past month I have lost 2 friends that died of smoking related causes. I did not know that until I was 10 days into the quit cycle. Thanks again I have a feeling you have extended my life. Incidentally I have referred these videos to friends and the have taken up the challenge. Thanks again.. To you and yours all the best

I am glad to have been able to help. I do need to point out though that you are the one who is responsible for extending your life. Check out the resource page “I couldn’t have done it without you” ntapblog.wordpress.com/i-couldnt-have-done-it-without-you/. It covers this issue. Also, I think you will relate to the video Acknowledge the negative but dwell on the positive kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJPYZ6KkqpWBldU. Around the three minute mark it goes into a story of a clinic participant who had the experience of finding out he had lost friends from smoking related problems and how it changed is thinking about his quit.

Joel, you are a legend. I am very grateful to have come across your website and the wealth of useful, factual data. I am in my 12th day of cold turkey quit. It is getting easier by the day. Physical withdrawals almost all gone. What bugs me a bit is the fact that I am now starting to cough up tar as if I was still smoking. I wonder if there a time frame for when this might eventually clear up?
@joelspitz7 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your 12 day quit. I have a video addressing the possible increase in coughing after quitting issue. Here is a link to it: Why many people cough more after quitting kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaGap2Cfi5ybpMk

I was searching for a week 3 video but I guess there isn't one so I am just going into the rest of my life. lol. week 3 was yesterday. I feel a lot better as far and constant thoughts and cravings. However I seem to be holding onto this off and on tightness in my lungs. a little coughing but not coughing anything up. Its a little worrisome. None of the times I have quit in the past have I dealt with this. Maybe its age this time. Ill give it time before I get too worried. For those of you who have made it this far all I can say is Never never ever touch a cigarette again. I quit for 13 years after 20 yrs smoking back in 99. I started up again 3 1/2 years ago for no real reason I don't think. Well I think it's because for a couple years I was letting myself have one here and there thinking it was no problem. It obviously was a problem and led to starting full time again. Had I just not had those few here and there I think I would have been fine. It's not like I was having bad cravings or anything. Quitting this time was as hard or harder than ever. I have tried many times the last few years to quit again. I never want to do this again. Good luck to everyone and stay with it. Stay committed to never touching one again. Thanks again Joel for these videos. They are a tremendous help. :) Dawn

Koushik Prasad 6 hours ago · Automatically held Day 18. This is not my first quit or the longest i have went without a cigarette. Thanks to Mr. Joel. Your videos have change my mindset and it is a shame that this channel does not have more subscribers
@joelspitz7 жыл бұрын
Hello Koushik: I hope you see this. My channel has a profanity filter on it so I had to edit your one comment of how you feel this time compared to other quits you had in the past. I am glad to have been able to help. Up to this point I actually have never paid much attention to # of subscribers. I have actually never asked once for people to subscribe to my channel--all I had hoped for is that people watch and read the resources I have made available. I think this may have been a little short sighted on my part because it may be possible that having more subscribers may have indeed helped more people to find the resources. It just honestly is not in my nature to ask people to do anything. See the pages whyquit.com/joels-videos/please-dont-smoke/ and the video at the top of the page whyquit.com/joels-videos/how-does-your-program-compare-to/. It explains how I am not a very good promoter of my materials. I am glad that you have found the resources though and that they have helped you this time. As far as for having quits that had lasted longer--check out the page whyquit.com/joels-videos/past-successful-quits/ The resources on the bottom of the page can supply the understanding that can help to make this the last quit you will ever have to do by now simply making and sticking to a personal commitment to never take another puff. Joel

Glad you related well to this video Johnathan. It is one of the earliest ones I made and in many ways one of the more important ones. I really do want people to understand their ability to get on with their lives without smoking and without having to fight not to smoke on an long-term basis. A more recent page I have produced addressing this issue can be found at whyquit.com/joels-videos/ill-have-to-use-willpower-for-the-rest-of-my-life-not-to-smoke/ Hope you find that information helpful too.
