Getting Started : Reforged Eden Update 1.11 - Empyrion Galactic Survival : #01

Empyrion - Galactic Survival was released on the 5th August 2020 after 12 major development cycles in early access. It is a 3D open world space sandbox survival game. Build powerful ships, mighty space stations and planetary bases to explore and exploit a variety of different planets and discover the mysteries of Empyrion!

It is very different to the base game, the hostiles and POIs are harder.

I had the same problem when I tried to play Reforged Atlantis. I kept losing my custom settings too.

Don't forget talador has base attacks. Just make sure you're ready before you place that block

Have fun, and good hunting. You could build a stripped cap ship with nothing but the frame and chair with one constructor, a fuel tank and a small generator. That way it doubles as a base and a starter cv.

Had not considered that, did have a 'shell' CV with no pilot seat and thrusters, although it did need a POI as a source for blocks.

It is an Eleon Bug. It happens with most scenarios now. You have to just start the scenario, then quit, then when you go to load it, select difficulty and change the settings. Then it will keep your settings.

I hear ya, that’s how most of my RE play through go. I had to start over because of a game breaking bug with me getting hit through my ships shields.

There is often a problem with Eleon release an update for the base game, it is not possible to identify all the possible impacts on scenarios.

Oh does Reforged Eden work again? Thought I read somewhere that recend updates and DLC broke something for modding and people where not happy about that. Was that sorted out or is that part of the thing you mentioned at the start with Atlantis?

Whenever Eleon release an update there is a period there are problems, but Ravien releases a compatibility release for RE within a week or so. Sometimes there remains the odd problem, but generally RE is stable. It is possible the update messed up Atlantis, have not checked to see if has been fixed.

Hey Silverbeard! Empyrion Is it showing it’s age? Feels so dated compared to modern games? Wonderful sights and sounds and music. Played the game so much. Felt bad when I uninstalled it last year. My favourite Space game. Sad to see it at its end stage? I don’t understand why they released a DLC at this stage. Maybe Eleon should just do a UE 5 based Empyrion 2 now that they are working with Funcom. They may fund them. A more polished, modern Empyrion with hardcore survival mechanics. That would be cool. Look forward to what you do to make things interesting. Maybe a Mobile base CV as soon as possible skipping a land base?

Eleon do seem to have lost their way, although on the upside RE has taken the game to another level with more to come in the back half of the year. All software goes through a cycle where it reaches a point where it is cheaper to start again, feel this game has reached that point. The the DLC gave the feeling the devs were exploring new ideas, it is possible they are working on an Empyrion 2 and there is part of me that hopes many of the Reforged Eden concepts are included. Getting a mobile base is high on the list of tasks, hopefully will find a crashed CV, otherwise the first base will have to be a SV.

@@StephenSilverbeard unfortunately I do not have high hopes for Elion now that they've been picked up by honestly one of the two most scummy survival games publisher to ever exist. Conan Exiles is so stuffed with microtransactions that it isn't even funny. Dark Faction is straight out of the Conan playbook... add a few new blocks, maybe a weapon or two and a limited gameplay system that breaks the game for everyone who doesn't use it even if it's garbage... yup, typical Funcom... For reference, the second one is Wildcard and I'd have to give an honorable mention to both the Rust devs for all their insane DLC and TFP for the way they've handled console versions of 7 days to die. Hopefully I'll be able to knock TFP off that honorable mention spot soon. EDIT: note on Wildcard: if you are unhappy with Bathesda and starfield trying to push paid mods then avoid ARK Ascended like the black plague that it is. They just pushed paid mods to console/pc a month or two ago.

@@GlitchedVision It would be sad to see Eleon go that way, wonder if this is why Vermillon has redefined all the config files for Reforged Eden 2. It is hard to say that may be it is time to take a look at other survival games, keep meaning to take a deeper dive into SpaceBourrne and Space Engineers.

@@StephenSilverbeard spacebourne isn't much of a survival, it's more like a 1 man x4 fused with a bit of ground combat while space engineers is more of an automation puzzler with survival elements lol both are good games though. There realy isn't a good space survival out there right now that even compares to what empyrion tried to do. Avorion is another one of those "it's close but not quite" games as well in case you're curious. It's basically minecraft with custom built ships instead of steeves lol

Agree, remember Empyrion when it first hit early access, so check Spacebourne and Space Engineers to see how they are developing. Have not played Avorian, will check it out.
