Honestly though, Drew, I really appreciate you taking your time and learning how to say things in Ukrainian. Too many people simply ignore our language and go in with the mindset that "oh, who cares, I'll just say everything in Russian" or something along those lines. Learning some phrases in the national language is a wonderful gesture that goes a long way with people, especially here, so thank you!

That's perfect. It's the very least you can do is learn how to say Thanks or Evening or general polite vocal mannerism (like nigah in mandarin means umm, that one, the, etc)

Here in Upstate NY, at Wegmans specifically, every produce item has a code associated with it displayed on the shelf it's on, and much like you did, you take it over to the scale, type in the code and quantity, and it'll print out a price tag with all the appropriate information right on it that the cashier can then just scan.

I loved all the little filler shots. boarding the plane, your leg room in flight, you passing the time by reviewing flash cards, etc. As someone who doesn't travel by plane, it made it feel like I'm coming along with you for the adventure, not just watching a stuffy documentary.

Awesome first episode Drew, looking forward to the next! I was in Kiev last weekend, went on a couple of walking tours and learned a lot about the crisis of a few years ago. There are a lot of memorials in the city, and it gave the trip a sombre vibe, as did current war in Crimea. I hope you cover some of that stuff in the coming episodes, it should balance out the crazy frivolity of Eurovision (which I'm also eager to see)! Can't wait to see and hear what you thought of Chernobyl too, assuming you visited, but it would be very unDrewlike not to have.

Great stuff, Drew. If I could make a suggestion, I think that you could increase production values a lot by using a lav mic in your "talking to the camera" segments. That way you could make those sound just as good as the voiced-over parts.

General rule of thumb, plan so that you reach your airport at least 3 hours before an international flight and 1 hour before a domestic flight. You can NEVER be too early for a long-distance journey

I always get to the airport with 4 hours left. With travel time either by train/car or wtv you can never know. So i'd rather be waiting for 4H than actually being late (although one time I thought we would only be boarding at 12 when it actually was 11, I'm glad I decided to go wait at the gate precisely when they were boarding).

Nice video drew. I've never missed a flight, but I missed the ability to check in my luggage with the flight I was taking, so it had to go on a different flight that arrived after I had arrived at the airport. That was another 90 minutes of waiting for my luggage to show up.
