We had such an unreasonably good time filming with Jason. He had the idea to hide potatoes throughout the video as an ode to Idaho. Who can spot them all?

Gears and Gasoline Ok so there's the obvious bag in bed with Jason Fenske, a potato at the base of the white board, a potato in the pocket on the campers chair, and looks like 3 bags of potatoes stacked up at 4:51. I think that's all of them hahaha

Thanks to you, I've learned so much about how cars work. I have lots of friends who are "car guys" (with their Evo, STi, Civic, etc.) who talk like they know everything about cars yet they don't know how an engine, clutch, and transmission, etc. actually work. So Jason if you are reading this, thank you for everything. Also, I envy you, my life is so stagnant as I'm finishing my senior year at college. I'm glad to see someone like you actually got somewhere in life, most of my college friends don't have actual jobs.

Glad to hear it, and you're very welcome - thanks for watching! And hang in there, it took me forever to find my first job as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Jason you are inspirational, and I kind of hate you because I'm very jealous of you. I'm a mechanic by trade, but a total engineering nerd as well, and you run a great channel. Also, your hair is cool man. Unlike all the comments about it, it is original. It makes you look older and distinguished, and if your girl ever dumps you on your ass, then you have a better shot at picking up some younger broad who is looking for an older successful guy. So take that you bald haters.

I've loved cars for a very long time. I grew up handing tools to my dad, who always worked on our Chevy van. My first car show was a Corvette show in Lancaster, PA. As I grew up, I became more attracted to the SN95 platform Mustang, and was super excited when the New Edge platform came out... ... Just like you, I really got into racing games, but starting with the original Project Gotham Racing. It was such a success to me. The introduction to a variety of cars extending to TVR, Opel, Vauxhall, and many other manufacturers not seen in the US, helped me grow and love all cars. Still, I defined myself as an avid Mustang owner, and lover. Your channel has helped me advance my knowledge and I thank you for everything you have done for me.

I started watching Engineering Explained when I started University around 4 years ago. I graduated from Automotive Engineering, and Jason provided a lot of answers to my engineering questions. I started watching EE when the channel had less than 100,000 subscribers and I thought... one day I hope that I will make a KZbin channel, too. And I did 2 months ago. I am simply amazed how far EE has gone - over 1 Million subscribers. I always wanted to know a little more about Engineering Explained, so here we have it. Keep up the good work EE! It looks that Gears and Gasoline is also a great channel to which I subscribed a few weeks ago. Good luck!

I ran into Engineering Explained by accident when I randomly decided that I wanted to invest myself in learning more about cars. I love cars. I have always loved cars. My problem is that the infatuation has always been a mysticism without much knowledge about what goes or happens inside and out of them. EE's channel helped me learn so much and take away some things I never even considered, just as he said, quick and easy, but factual and to the point. Finding this video on this channel about EE is one of the coolest things I've watched in a while, about one of the nicest dudes I like to watch on YT. Jason is like the Mr. Rogers of explaining the inner workings of cars... with potatoes, hahaha!

Congrats to my friends Ben and Ben for creating (in my opinion) your most beautiful video you've made so far. Your choices in shots and perspective were truly captivating. And to Jason from Engineering Explained, I'm glad I got a chance to kind've get to know more about you through this video and why you do what you do. I've watched a handful of your videos, and have learned many new things, including why I should correct all of my bad habits I had developed in driving a manual, and what those bad habits actually are doing to the car I'm driving. So a big thanks to Jason for making these types of informative videos available to the world. Your effort is appreciated, and I look forward to your future videos. Absolutely amazing. I clearly remember about 3 and 1/2 years ago I wanted to start really taking my interest in cars to the next level, and actually learning how all the individual components worked. I remember searching up "Turbo Chargers explained" and came across Jason's video. I was instantly hooked on the way he explained things and how easy it was for me to understand in his words. From that point on, he was my go to guy. I've been subscribed to him since, i've seen his channel struggle for views and also do incredibly well like he is currently. Since then I have also created my own channel and reached over 1,000 subscribers so far, and I attribute my youtube growth and just the ability to explain things to my friends heavily due to Jason & his videos. Great video though, really enjoyed seeing more of his background!
