just have to say i really like this video because, even though there was some editing for time, you showed the process and didnt cut straight the results which was really helpful. it shows you working with the bird and gives a more realistic expectation to anybody who wants to try this out and, because you dealt with the problems as they came up, was a way more thorough lesson. don`t know if this channel is still active, but had to post anyway!

you're afraid of him. you're asking him to step up but your finger is too far from the bird. you are just confusing the bird. put your finger right up against his body and tap gently as you ask him to step up. nice bird. good luck with him.

Awesome video. Most helpful video I've found for very beginner bird owners like myself. I like it because you not only show how to do it right, but you actually show (and not just tell) what the wrong way to do it and why it's wrong. Great! I hope you have many more bird instructional videos. Please please please.

I had a conure who always wanted out of his cage and would hang on the door and make little noises until he was let out. When it was time to put him back in, he would grab the side of the door and climb up the outside of the cage up to the chain holding the cage and wouldn't come down.
@island.918 ай бұрын
I had an conure too and same with me She would literally scream to let her out she hated the cage afterwards lol 😂 then she would escape the cage when everyone was together and like you have mentioned she would play with lock awwww I miss her 😢

My tiel is completely okay with scritches and head kisses. I can feed him treats no problem. But if I ask him to step up he goes to bite. He is target trained but if my hand isnt near his head or has a treat I get bit. The previous owners that he was with, they took a cloth to grab him and take him out, which they GAVE me the cloth. I threw it out because there is NO WAY I'm grabbing him. I feel like that's a huge reason why he hates hands now and won't step up. Is it still possible?
@mahdsiddique89723 жыл бұрын
Cut bird but don't use hand sanitizer before us play with the bird because it can be toxic and get natural wood perches with grooves and bumps so your cockatiel doesn't get arthritis.

I'm sure birds know what the cage door is for because they can navigate well instinctively. They can be trained to leave and return to cage in weeks! by luring with their favourite treat like spray millet and it's also important to provide them a place outside where they can safely go (and probably reach without flying), don't expect them to just fly around instantly. And i'm also sure that hand sanitizer is harmful for the birds, please don't use it or wash it off before interacting with them.

I didn't have to do any of that stuff. I just opened my birds cage, went in my chair and he figured it out on his own. I had to hand feed him so he knew in and out. He figured out how to scale his cage to come to me on his own, I just go to cage turn my shoulder say hop, or give my for arm and say come on.. I didn't have to do any clicker or starve my bird.. before you eat make sure you do your chores! Where are your birds toys? What do you do when you're bored? Do you just sit on your bed and stare at the walls? Don't you know Dowell rods are bad on their feet?. I have rope and natural perches. He is by a window so he can see and hear other birds, we have bird feeders and huge trees by our house, his cage is big, has lots of things to peck at, flip, flip, snack on , walk on.

Hi! I just got a hand raised parakeet from a bird breeder and I am trying to get him out of the cage when I want him to. I got him to get out of his cage on my finger today but when I try within three or four hours later he does not want to come back out. He steps up but when I attempt to carry him towards the door of his cage he always jumps back. Can you please help me? Thank you.
