I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is the first I ever got into contact with any Ghost Busting before I ever saw the movie Ghostbusters. So for me, having a big hairy ape, a car that could talk and change into a jet, bubblegum shooters and weird alternate dimensions that change you into Ghostbusters was my cup of tea lol! Looking back at it now, yeah I can see why this might have sucked for some ppl. But it is still a part of my childhood, and it is AWESOME!

i was born in 84 and he-man she-ra ghostbusters dinosaucers silverhawks thundercats and other oldies are my childhood cartoons this ghostbusters are the original in my opinion and i think that the movie producers should bring back those ghostbusters in real life or the cartoon to todays technology i think it would be fantastic and would be a succsess :3

Your word is not law, especially not with that kind of attitude. Besides, these Ghostbusters came first. This cartoon is based on Filmation's 1975 TV show, The Ghost Busters. In fact, Columbia got permission from Filmation to use the name for the movie, and Filmation offered Columbia to make a cartoon based on the movie. When that didn't happen, Filmation made a cartoon based on their own Ghost Busters.

Until today, I was still under the impression that this cartoon was part of the OTHER Ghostbusters franchise, and that THIS was actually what was called The Real Ghostbusters. Funny how your childhood changes with a new perspective! :)

Ha ha, I definitely remember this show. Used to watch it a fair amount when I was a kid in the late 80's, was a good show. I got confused between this and The Real Ghostbusters for a while but I am glad to find this again. Eddie was such a bumbler, you couldn't help but love him. Jake was a suave ladies' man. Tracy the ape was cool too. Man I miss this show. LET'S GO GHOOOOST-BUSTERS!

When I think of Filmation, I usually think of the 1979 Flash Gordon series... I always thought that that was one of Filmation's best attempts in story, artwork and voice acting. They really did a nice job with the 16 stories intertwined as a serial format. Though I think the Ghost Busters is a surprisingly well done cartoon despite all the hassle over the rights for the name of the property... considering the live action of Ghost Busters came well before the movie did. However, I like both.

Here's the truth: there was a live-action show made by Filmation in the 1970s named "The Ghost Busters". It had Tracy the gorilla and the fathers of the guys from this show. Then Columbia paid the makers of the show for the rights to make a movie called "Ghostbusters". After the movie was a hit, Filmation tried to cash in on the success of the movie by bringing back their Ghost Busters.

Thanks. I looked up extreme Ghostbusters on the wiki to get a little background info. I haven't seen this one, but I might not have had access to seeing it before. I'm a little surprised to see that the only Egon Spengler is in it. I wonder how the third Ghostbusters movie will turn out with a younger cast and the originals in cameos. I'll should add that I like any cartoon produced by Bruce Timm... the Batman and Justice League stuff is terrific stuff. I got to meet Timm in Chicago at a con.

That's interesting that Hanna Barbara was mentioned in your comment. I think one of the best cartoon efforts was the original Johnny Quest with the plethora of shadows and atmosphere in their art. I don't know if I have seen Extreme Ghostbusters or not. I do like the Real Ghostbusters with the original voice of Peter Venkman. I'm not sure if I've seen a lot of the later part of the series.

Yeah, Bruce Timm was an amazingly nice guy. I would recommend him very much. I also met comic book writer Brian Arrazello at the same time... they were working on Gotham Knights movie. I own all the Batman series, Justice League and Batman Beyond. I still think Kevin Conroy is the best guy to play Batman. I may have to see some of the Extreme Ghostbusters on youtube. I notice they had a female buster... which is cool. I created a Two Bobs series on my channel that is influenced by Scooby Doo.
