Ya know I've had many Gibsons and I've never had a problem with any if them. They came ready to play straight out of the box. Other than changing string guage and having to set intimation for that, I never had any problems at all maybe I've just been lucky but I've have all types from the "Tributes", studios, standards, and to the custom shop reissues. Never ever had a problem with them. Definitely never had one with scratches on the pick guard like that. Wonder if it was a floor model or how long it was out on the floor.

I bought a used 2018 Explorer (finish the same as in the video, probably the same BB 2 & 3) last year from L&M, and perhaps because it was used was the reason it had no issues. All the case candy was with it (docs, strap, baby pic.) $1200 CAD. One tiny mark on it that I could barely photograph. I have no problem buying used and letting the previous owner take the hit.

I sent my 2020 Explorer back for similar issues, including output jack also ready to fall off. Not blaming Gibson, but the store who lied about ordering me a new one and instead shipped me an open box item that had been tossed around in shipping several times. Back and forth across the US twice to get to me and I assume someone else returned it before I did. Ironic that the store doesn’t want to make it right now, I ordered a new one from a more reputable dealer instead than the largest 4th generation family owned music store in the US that swindled me. There is always a catch to a good deal, and when a store lies, it’s hard to catch where they are lathering you with snake oil. Good thing about the big stores is the return policy, they can keep their piece of crap, I don’t believe Gibson sent out the BS I received, it’s from the incompetent tool bags at the retailer who don’t give a crap about the customer.

Good ol' Long & McDonald's. Canadian music store institution. In the early 00's they changed some, I guess in terms of store atmosphere and type of employees they hire. Now it's more of a corporate big (but small) box atmosphere. Old days it was more old dudes who had been kicking around in the music industry forever and knew the answer to every question no matter what kind of instrument or equipment it was about. Now it's younger kids. At least at my nearest location anyway. Also! Long n' McDonald: stop asking me for my phone number every time I go in to buy strings! Geez.

first, i love natural body explorers. im a big skynyrd fan. gibson employee who set this guitar up should be fired. neck too bowed, string height wrong, pickups too high, pickup switch loose. thats terrible for gibson QC. these guitars are made for 9s or 10s max with no funky tuning and certainly not 11s in funky d tuning like this one. only an expert like dave can make all this work. if i was the owner of it. back to gibson. no sense in a guitar new in box being this messed up. you go dave!!love it and learned alot as always. thanks Larry
@stoutlager63254 жыл бұрын
Given these things ship cross ocean then cross country to finally arrive at the retailer's, things shift with all that atmosphere and humidity variation. It's more on the store to get things back in place before it goes to the customer. Nowadays with online shopping though, often guitar only briefly or never comes out of the box at the store, ships straight on to the buyer. That's crappy. At least set up the instrument you're selling before shipping it out. Same courtesy they normally do in store. Now, you might get a bad setup there too but at least they did something. Or tried to.
