@@LazyFoxClubAccording to Hwinfo, my chipset sits at 55C at idle and at around 61-3C while gaming (tested it today in Cyberpunk). I have NR200P with a Noctua NH-L12S which is a downdraft cooler, so that probably helps a bit. For fans I use 3x Arctic P12 A-RGB (2 at the top, 1 as a CPU fan instead of the default Noctua fan).

Will the 7600X perform worse here than the 7600? Worried that I bought the wrong combo with the 7600X and the ASRock A620I in the ncore 100 max case. Does the ASRock have the same power limit? In general it seems better with the M2 heatsink, added M2 slot and CMOS feature reset etc. About my Powercolor 7900XT Hellhound I worry less, although I might need to expand the case as it has exactly the specified 62mm thickness of the case's compact mode. This is my second review. I watch from you and I gotta say I am really impressed with the high-quality. You mention important info others don’t. Good advice others don’t. Feels like you understand more and actually delve into the topics you cover. Keep up the good work and thanks! instant sub btw

Cheers! No, not really, they will both operate at 65W tdp, so more or less they will be the same on a power normalized basis, you’re just not getting the higher end (less efficient) performance for the 7600X. In my experience though the 7600X won’t boost too much beyond the 88W PPT level so it’s a handful of points on Cinebench type of scenario. For single core or lightly threaded processes the 7600X will have a slight clock boost, but nothing to write home about. What does matter is the cost of the 7600X vs the 7600 since you’re not getting much for the extra.

Very cool review. I have a similar build with a 7600, ASRock PG Lightning A620i, XFX 6900 XT, Corsair SF1000L, 2TB NVMe, and IS-55, all in a Meshroom. Performance is very good and it stays cool. The 6900 XT is a XTXH model and can be tuned to use a lot of power and generate a lot of heat, but I undervolt it and it runs well, even in the small case. The only issue I ran into was with the height of the heatsinkl over the IO shield with the IS-55. I didn't have lower profile memory to allow the cooler to be mounted the other way, so I removed the heatsink and put a NVMe heatsink on the VRMs with thermal putty. Everything fits in nicely, and the temps stay low.

sooo, did you throw a 7800X3D on there? nudge nudge? I resisted upgrading from 5800X3D B550i Aorus AX to AM5 due to ITX board costs and looked to see only 1 incomplete review of 7800X3D on A620 mATX... Would be interesting to know if 7800X3D and A620 ITX is an option or a meltdown performance killer.

Was that the tech yes city video of A620 and 7800x3D? The 7800x3d will work but like he said will be limited to 88W most likely so temps shouldn't be too bad hopefully.
@MachinesMore
@MachinesMore 10 ай бұрын
In my experience the 7800X3D draws at most around 80W for MC applications so power shouldn’t be an issue- and gaming only should be totally fine. For multi core processes, however, in testing between X670 and B650, getting stable/consistent boost clocks is something the X670 was slightly better at. My concern for the X3D in SFF is also that it has a lower thermal throttle temp, which you can often hit on bone stock settings with smaller coolers, even with the lower power consumption. That is where curve optimizer with B650 and up would be very helpful, whereas on the 7600 you have a little more headroom and the A620i could pass.

I do get that given your builds, that is going to be a bit hard to comment on, but if you have a sense of boards to avoid, please let me know. As for this Gigabyte one, I would probably use the Asrock a620i instead, given two m.2 and better vrm. Anyway, to me, it would depend on the whine.

@@MachinesMore Thanks. Really appreciate it. I got a PNY RTX 3060 UPRISING Dual Fan LHR. It does not whine. The stock cooling is horrible and noisy, but when using some Noctua 92mm slim fans and a duct, it is almost silent at about 1250rpm under load. At that fan speed, the gpu is more silent than any other GPU I have ever had, since on any other board, the whine would be louder than these fans at this speed. I like your work. Feel free to contact me at any time, if you ever want access to my work. Ended up going for this board since I wanted the USB that the Asrock equivalent board lacked, and was going for the 7600 anyways which doesn’t get limited by the lower TDP. For others I recommend going with the ASRock A620I Lightning is the same price and has 120w CPU TDP versus 90w, which I believe will let the 7800x3d run unrestricted unlike the gigabyte.
