in fairness, mike became super great at the fadeaway in his second 3 peat run. he did have it and developed it in the late 80s. but he was still considered jump man at that time. by the second run he was the fadeaway king, not really jump man anymore....not saying he didnt hit a bunch of fadeaways in the early 90s, cos he definitely did

Rashad's argument is contradictory. Initially, he said MJ developed the fadeaway due to fouls, then claims MJ didn't have it until '96. Given MJ was getting slaughtered in the late '80s and early '90s, it would've made sense for him to develop the fadeaway then, not in the mid-late '90s when he was better protected by the league and refs. His mid, 3, post and fadeaway was aimed at diversifying his skillset. Like Kobe and LeBron, he understood that athleticism wanes with time, and skill becomes crucial. Becoming less skilled makes it easier for defenses to stop you, turning you into an offensive liability.

Gil HAS to stop with the Giannis slander it really discredits the rest of his other takes. Giannis shooting a career high from the floor this season and career high in assists. Of course his player profile is still similar because he's the same person still. He just drastically improved on everything. Most guys rookie scouting report or profile will still be the same. For example what did they say about Curry before the draft? A guy who shoots a lot of threes and great handles. That's still Curry today but he is much better than he was in his early years overall lol guys don't necessarily drastically change the way they play, but they just get better at what they already do and maybe add little layers.

Gil's got a point. Comparing Giannis to Shaq doesn't quite fit. Shaq stayed in the paint unless he was setting screens. Giannis, on the other hand, hangs around the perimeter and plays facilitator. His weak shooting gives the defense an edge to roam freely. If Giannis could shoot better, it'd open up space and create opportunities for teammates, making him a better facilitator. Plus, if the defense doesn't collapse when he drives, it's an easy 1-on-1 situation. Better spacing means better looks, rhythm, and a deadlier offense overall. As the team's best player, Giannis should have a solid mid-range and respectable three-pointer by now. He could learn from great shooters, but too often players stay one-dimensional until it's too late. LeBron's focus on athleticism alone would have led to a decline much sooner and steeper.

@hakshustletv
@hakshustletv 7 ай бұрын
@@basmilli4438 You're not wrong but you want to begin adding those different things to your bag way before you begin declining, in fact, you want to start adapting your game early so when that physical decline happens you're already comfortable with a solid in-between game, you can step out, now you're a complete threat and can choose when to turn it on and drive instead of that being your only option. Look at Westbrook for example, imagine if he really mastered his jumpshot while in his prime instead of it being streaky, do you know how scary Westbrook could be even right now. He's not as athletic as he once was but he's still very athletic, now imagine him with an in between game like Kobe who can also step out. Right now he'd be a top 2-3 PG and a top 10-15 player.
@hakshustletv
@hakshustletv 7 ай бұрын
@@jamesonedwardsii4943 He naturally has those gifts, he just needs to consciously start now and work on it relentlessly, the earlier he adapts using triple threat moves, up and unders, becoming deadly from mid, his last stretch of his career will be graceful and extended. LeBron is nowhere near as athletic as he once was but it's hidden because he does so many other stuff and then saves those "reverse the clock" moments for when the opportunity presents itself, because he doesn't have to force the issue every time people can't tell he's declined a lot athletically whereas with someone like Westbrook who was driving damn near every play due to being a poor shooter, it really exposed his athletic decline and he became easy to guard, actually an offensive liability. They'd just let him shoot threes all day. Giannis doesn't want to become that liability.

Giannis can get to the hole better than when he first came in the league. Hes a much better passer out of double teams. And is better around the rim in his finishing as well. Way better rebounder and defender. By Gils logic a great player is supposed to improve constantly every season. Well how come we dont see guys points, reboubds, fg%, 3p%, ft% just improve every single year consistently? Because it doesnt happen like that. Imrovements arent necessarily linear and every season has different players, coaches, systems, and different ways teams defend you. To say Giannis hasnt imroved on his game is just flat out silly. I think Giannis motivation has changed since his sons birth. He already has a rare championship, he has done more, with less skills. He may want to spend time with his family over watching film. He may just be content with his career. There are much better players, who will/has never been a NBA Champion. So let the man live.

Jordan's fade away came with Phil Jackson and tex winters and the triangle, and to isolate himself more because of the beating he was taking from Detroit, but not often used. It was perfected and used far more the second 3 peat when he got much stronger

The more I listen to Rashad, the more I enjoy his perspective on basketball. Gilbert is only about stats but numbers don't show real gameplay. You have to watch all these games in REAL time, rewind, unwind, and really understand what is going on on the floor. Lebron's jumper was never his strong suit in important times coming into the league but it was his IQ from playing daily nonstop since a child is what separated him. With that being said this is my top 5 from actually watching games everyday since I can remember. Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, Kareem, Steph. MJ = best to ever pick up a basketball , Kobe = proved hard work beats talent (If you disagree with me having Kobe over Lebron just go watch the 2012 and 2013 All Star game matchups where Kobe and Lebron went head to head with the best players on their teams NO EXCUSES blaming bench/role players. Kobe was basically on his way out and Lebron was in his prime with Miami.) Lebron = stats king , Kareem = Abdul Fucking Jabar , Curry = changed the game etc etc

Dame has EXTREME buyers remorse. Coaches changing, fired Stotts, Giannis keep bringing the ball down, Middleton playing 12 minutes per game, and on and on and on. Meanwhile the Heat is a well run organization, our Coach got, an extension, we drafted well, a nice mix of vets, and youth. Retiring jerseys, showing respect to our alumni.

I like Gilbert but he can admit that he don’t like Giannis. Also lebron didn’t have a consistent jumper EVER he was an unstoppable force tho. Giannis has improved but that’s not his bread and butter but he will he’s 29. Also lebron wasn’t a guaranteed bucket shooter like Carmelo…not hate either we all witnessed this.
