That being said, his point is ignorant because he suggests that the solution is sending Europeans back to Europe. 70% of the league is still American. There’s only two white Euros in the 15 top scorers this year. He doesn’t have an issue with Giannis presumably as he is a previous DPOY. The other solution that K Mart mentioned is that not only do we not draft Euros, we draft more college players. Since you’re not getting rid of the 3point shot, and it’s the high caliber 3point shooting that keeps help defenders from helping against dribble penetration, move the 3point line back another 5 feet. This means, for the most part, defenders will be released to help on the ball, to stop all of those easy drives and lob passes to the hoop. Doing this will restore the offensive/defensive balance as outside shooters’ point advantage will be neutralized. To take 3point shots in bundles will become a calculated risk and won’t drive the game nearly as much.

Call traveling. Eliminate this travel step back cause that’s not a step back. Eliminate the “gather” dribble which next existed and was created because traveling became so bad, allow hand checking, don’t penalize a defensive player for challenging a shot, I.e. they have a right to jump and challenge a shot and if the shot is released and you aren’t touched until you are back on the ground it’s not a foul. You nailed it. The combination of those 3 things made defense nearly impossible. One you left out, which was for safety reasons, is not allowing a defender to land in the space of a shooter. It's having the same impact as when they changed the hit zone when tacking in the NFL or how you can't land on the quarterback when committing a sack. Those things hamper a defender because it removes the instincts involved in playing defense.

@@mazengwe28 oh that’s also what I was referring to on the close out on jumpers. They allowed a shooter to land 5 feet in front. Which is outside. You jump straight up and down. If you land more than 6 inches in front of your take off, and land on a defenders foot, no foul. It’s made contesting a jumper impossible.

Have you noticed the most egregious traveling no-calls is when a player is cutting towards the basket and he catches a pass and drives to the basket without one dribble? LeBron does it all the time. Some of them even do a Euro off of a pass without even dribbling the ball.

Gilbert, not only are the takes bad, but it’s disrespectful to the teammates of these players whose games have been elevated by their play. To a man, I guarantee there’s not a single Denver Nugget who would trade playing with prime Jokic to play with prime Gilbert or Kenyon Martin. Sorry, you’re not that good.

The physicality needs to be way ramped up and less fouls need to be called. Drawing fouls shouldn’t be such a necessary skill to have anymore. I wish there were more players in the league like Kyrie or Brunson type players who get almost all their buckets from skill, not just chucking 3s or mindlessly rim running
