@@samanirsanglir9731 melo was drafted to denver tho, he went to the knicks an even though he didnt win he still was a problem. Ion feel ge messed up that bad, but melo wasnt tryna be the GOAT. Bron spent his whole career tryna be the GOAT. Kobe spent it tryna be better than mike who they said was the goat. An which i can argue kobe did surpass him. Melo wasnt really ring hungry, lebron avoided goin to the west coast until he joined LA kuz the west conference been ELITE for 20+ years. Which is y when melo was drafted to denver it was more impressive an he shoulda been ROTY because the nuggets went from a bottom team in the league to a top 5 team in the west that season. Lebron took a team to the playoffs in a weak east conference, the 2nd and 3rd seed teams in the east were like 41-41 at end if regular season. Lebron beat the cektics but KG wasnt playing, an he lost to dwight howard when he cane to the league. An when bron did go to miami they still lost to west teams ie. mavericks who had one allstar and spurs who had 3-4. Took lebron 9 yrs to win one ring an he had to join somebody. Lebron would have more respect if he went to like a decent team an won. Not a team who still has the top3 sg in the league and top 10 pf in the league an than the following season get a top 10 shooter of all time added. An also ppl say kobe was calling people but no tf he wasnt, he called dwight thats it, but dwight aint wanna play for LA kuz he just lost to the lakers in the finals. The fact that they were tryna team up somewhere doesnt look good in a GOAT argument because y tf yall teaming. Now they handin lebron olympic mvps even though that was an ass pull kuz they never did that b4, inseason tournaments that legit dont matter its just another excuse to give lebron more stats. I sweae watch a cavalier game before he joined the lakers and a laker game an u see where lebron said fuck it im not playing defense ima just only try scoring so i can pass kareem an feel like the goat. These are all facts but they just ultimately play into my opinion on why he isnt the goat. I hold kobe at #1 but i do acknowledge he started to fall off after an acl tear an it’s understandable because that injury one of the hardest to come back from. But he is rated still to this day #1 in all stats from 2000-2024 and is the #1 player from 2000-2024. Ppl forget that though

Lebron's game is heavily criticized, some of his most dominant performances came in losing efforts...often times being the best player in a play-off series, his game play gets overshadowed and downplayed as if he was trash and let the team down...if he's obviously one of the best player on the court every game for 20 + years, why would he not be considered top 5?
@tydesire4102
@tydesire4102 Жыл бұрын
Who doesn’t consider him top 5? And everything you’re describing comes with the territory. The fact of greatness is criticism amongst other things. He is criticized because of the crown he carries. A crown Nike and SI gave him before he ever played an nba game AND he grabbed that crown and donned it. I don’t think one person on this planet including Cleveland residents would describe Lebron’s career as anything less than one of the greatest ever. Why is that not enough? Lol

Lebron led the Cavs to the best record in the league without a legit player on his supporting cast. He took the Celtics to 7 and lost. People said he quit on a night where he dropped 45. When he went to Miami people forget that the team struggled, they didn't have cap space to fill out the roster and Wade was a case of diminishing returns. Lebron had to change his body type to play minutes at C and PF. All Lebron needed was 1 high quality player on his supporting cast and a bunch of solid role players to win Championships. There were a dozen teams in the NBA where Lebron could have pulled 2 of 4.

I like Gil's argument a lot! And i'll say this in accord with your points Phil, and Frosty: Heat management's great decision making was the part they played in winning those championships more than "culture," because you just can't avoid needing good players to win a championship (or just be competitive at all). And I'm sure there are other things that management does to setup the team for success, but LeBron was already disciplined, and dedicated, evidently, so i don't think he needed that -- and that's the main thing I hear that Miami culture demands (but i'm an outsider with little information). And LeBron always worked with a winner's mindset. I would've loved to see those Heat teams win more, because they had a bunch of players I liked like Shane, UD, Birdman, Mike Miller, Norris, Mario, Ray, Bosch, Wade and of course LeBron. And I liked Spo. .... But DAMN I wish they would've all played in NY.

I believe he needed the Heat to be greater. That finals loss to Dallas became a reason for LeBron to take his game to another level. Yes, he got to the finals in 2007, but he wasn't the reason they lost. He was just young and the team was weak. But that 2011 loss, the world saw him crumble under pressure. It was his fault, and he had to correct it. Also, the formula that allowed him to win championships: him + 3 or 4 shooters (including stretch 4s and 5s) around him is from Spo, who was inspired by Mike D'Antoni. But Spo made it better for Lebron, and then eventually, Steve Kerr took that system to another level when KD joined them.

Lastly, getting destroyed by the warriors twice, the spurs once, and getting embarrassed by the Mavs thanks to the biggest choke job ever by a superstar in finals history, of course I'm talking about LeBron, 8 points in game 4, man that game was one for the ages 😂😂😂 and having the audacity to call himself the greatest, yes, the guy is an annoying egomaniac, that's why he gets so much hate and criticism

@@85pearlboy I agree that, since LeBron was the best player in the league, having another two all-star caliber players does make the task a LOT more doable (history shows that that's a viable strategy that teams have used). That's facts. But there were teams that put up a good fight, like the '11 bulls, and them damn Celtics, and Indiana. Those teams competed hard (those were thrilling series). And in those Series LeBron still needed to go nuts to win, even on Miami. I have to admit that seeing the list of years you've provided, does make me feel that his teams started winning playoff series more quickly after he returned to Cleveland... Yup, they were smackin teams in the playoffs except the 4-3 series vs Boston in 2018, so too were the '90s Bulls teams, and 2000s Lakers, and Spurs teams. So that's just what the dominant teams do. And perhaps that supports your point that getting to the finals is taken for granted. But to do it 8 straight years, when these other dynasty teams did not do that (Bulls coming the closest) i think says that he is especially great because he is the main man on all those teams. It's not just because teams were bad. Cavs didnt' even have the best record except for 2015-16 year. Any way, appreciate your reply, it wasn't disrespectful, or angry, or none of that. @@chillbro2275 I get you, the weaker team is capable of winning against the stronger team any given Sunday, in football is way more often since is a sudden death match, meanwhile on basketball, hockey and baseball the weaker team needs 4 underdog wins, that's insane, that's why I say "on paper", on paper the heat and the cavs were the highly favored to win against the teams I just mentioned, I would say this, yes the Celtics gave the heat hell, Celtics's core played for their 5th straight year, that's a lot of chemistry gained, but, they also finally got way too old, having a young Rondo helped them a lot against the heat, the pacers, was a solid team, can't deny that, but Paul George was just a rising star, finally when the Cavs years arrived, to me Cavs dominance got stronger because the eastern conference got weaker, only rising stars, the 2015 hawks, perhaps the worst 60 game team ever, 2016 raptors, come on now, the Celtics, in 2017 they had no true super star player and finally the 2018 season, that season was an achievement to get in the finals granted, kyrie was gone and love wasn't the same, but the competition still wasn't as strong yet, Celtics still didn't had the killer, they added Jayson Tatum, but was still a rookie, but a pretty even match up against those Cavs, that's why in my reply I left the 2018 season as an exception. anyways, yes, respectfully and also not getting mad or anything, this was a good exchange

Couldn’t disagree more with Gil. Lebron had 0 rings before Miami…he went to LEARN how to win from Wade. The simple answer is that he wouldn’t be the winner or leader he is now without that time in Miami. Wade already had won, doesn’t matter how…he took it and won, PERIOD…something Lebron didn’t know how to do yet. And Gil’s acting like they won every year he was there, they DID NOT. There would be more of a point if that’s the case. If Lebron stays in Cleveland there’s a good chance he could have 0 rings today, and that would make him another great player without rings. Kobe knew he had to win without Shaq to avoid that, Lebron same thing. If heat culture isn’t a “thing” how do you explain them in the finals last year as a PLAY IN team? But even with other 7 footers and defensive stoppers in his time, he dominated. He chose to stop being a scorer as he got older and had others who could put up points. When we was called out by a reporter saying that he can't score anymore, he burnt the next 4 teams for 40 pts just to prove a point. He simply became more of a team player as he got older and was dealing with injury. But he was still dominating on DEF and the boards. And he's still the only player to block Kareem's skyhook multiple times in a single game, hell single possession of that same game, and he was a much older player. And people tend to forget he first played pro ball of the Harlem Globetrotters.

@@rollandcurtisfromVermont when you bring into account championships, you show that you're just another cookie cutter NBA fan. Championships are more about the team than it is about how good the individual players are. After all, Robert Horry has 7 titles, hit big shots that helped to win most of them, yet he's not even in the HOF. No one has as many chips as Bill Russell, plus he was one of the best defenders and rebounders of all time. I mean we can just ignore that MJ was the greatest scorer of the ball in a league that had no answer for him, and yet was swept twice in the first round out the playoffs, or that he retired three times from the game, or that he only won one playoff game without having Pippen and Phil Jackson. We will forget that he was a below average three-point shooter even though video games made him out to be a Deadshot and fans remember the big threes he DID make. And we will forget that two of his championships were won because of 2 roleplayers hitting big shots, one in each of those three-peats you mentioned. The people who are not reluctant to identify me as a casual basketball fan are those who are in their feelings about the GOAT conversation. I'm not ever putting my five favorite players of all-time in the debate, even though an argument could be made for three of them as the GOAT, and have been made for two of them. MJ has never carried a team, he's only been the best player on great teams. He's easily a top 5 player of all-time, and that's no slight to him. But I'm not so nostalgic about MJ that I forget or ignore his failures and weaknesses like surface level fans do. MJ is probably the second or third most dominant scorer of the ball ever to play the game. He's underrated as a passer and as a ball-handler and as a rebounder, overrated as a defender. And he SHOULD be in the GOAT conversation. But when it comes to the GOAT conversation, it's a matter of preference for most people. I can make an argument for 8-10 players as to why they should be the GOAT or shouldn't be. There's nothing casual about my knowledge of the game, just about yours and most people's pedestrian views of the game and its history.

If we being honest, nobody was ever saying the phrase "Heat Culture" until Lebron went there. That's literally a phrase that originated from when Lebron was there and Wade, Bosh, Bron and the rest of the team all bought into working together for a single goal of winning a championship😅. We never heard the term "Heat Culture". Shaq and Wade won with the Heat in 06. Heat Culture was not a known phrase before Lebron's tenure there.

If that's true, then point me to a single reference of anyone saying the phrase "Heat Culture" prior to Lebron getting there. Pat Riley had been there since 1995, so anywhere from 1995-2009 point me to a single moment in time where anyone has used the phrase "Heat Culture". If you can't, just know that, that phrase is a byproduct Lebron & company bringing even more notoriety to a franchise and to specifically Pat Riley. Also, i'm not even focusing about what specifically "Heat Culture" is actually considered. Only focusing the fact that nobody every used that phrase prior to Lebron's arrival, so I'd appreciate it if you don't try shift that actual subject at hand with misinterpretation of trying to define what "Heat Culture" is. I don't care what Heat Culture is, it's irrelevant to the fact that the phrase was never even used until Lebron got there. Now everyone uses the phrase "Heat Culture" and it's understood. For example, what's "Pistons Culture", "Kings Culture", or "Sixers Culture". Every team is going to have a certain culture innately, but it's not worth even talking about usually. Lebron & company made "Heat Culture" a household phrase. Another good example, would be "Warriors culture" not as typical of a phrase; but it's pretty much understood and would be recieved as positive due to Steph Curry & company and their overall contributions to playing winning basketball. Now, prior to them having Stephen Curry & company or winning basketball games in general, I think everyone can agree if the phrase "Warriors culture" there would be almost zero awareness of what "Warriors culture" was.... And it'd be fair to say, several years later even after Curry that nobody would even consider using the phrase "Warriors Culture" prior to Curry & company being there. Now, is "Warriors Culture" Curry? No, it's not, but like said previously, I don't care about that, because the fact remains that a phrase like that would be completely unrecognized prior to Curry & company's tenure with the franchise.

@@gamechanger114 You are clearly clueless to what a "culture" means. The "Heat Culture" is Pat Riley's genius. It is called the Heat culture because of Riley's influence not a particular player on the Heat's team, RILEY. The phrase "HEAT CULTURE" wasn't a terminology that Lebron brought to the team, he had no influence or experience of being a part of any winning championship culture in the NBA that's why he couldn't win a championship in Cleveland. You could argue he has a different legacy, maybe he’s not 2/1 all time, maybe he surpasses Jordan. Who knows and who cares. Does that affect how dominant a single man in the league is? He was one of the most dominant before Miami and he’d still be without them.
