The silver snowflake matches the sword hands well, also the silver Mercedes and SKX will do nicely. Keeping the watch with its silver theme. The blue would work if it would be darker closer to the dial color, the lighter blue takes away from the look. Anyway, I voted for silver snow.

Yep. Red Mercedes. Really nice accent to the watch face, adds distinction/contrast, AND it gives of a red, white & blue vibe. As well it should be as we all support and applaud Marc and LIW as an All-American company!!

I think orange pops with this blue background and makes it sportier. Given that the insert is silver, silver hands would make it a more elegant watch.

In retrospect the brushed chapter ring with the orange markers at the 5's along with an orange seconds hand would probably have looked really nice

It’s looking good Marc! Has to be an orange seconds hand (I know. I know. I objected strongly to any orange on the chapter ring). I doubt that this will carry the day…but Orange SkX gets my vote. This time please guys… no lightening bolts.

The high contrast with the red and orange are my favourite in that order. Have to decide between keeping it down to the Mercedes or going over the top with the bolt. Love this!!

I steel don’t get why the Red October is still not part of Islander’s catalogue. This would be the most popular Islander ! The Islander best seller is the closest to the Red October as it can be.

It really depends on what color you're going with on the bezel. I think you should put a bezel on first and then pick a seconds hand. But so far I dig the silver Mercedes.

Silver SKX feels like the only option due to the silver insert. It's the one as I can see continuity in the design language.

100% agree. With that one it looks like a nice watch. Any of the others (especially the colored ones) it just looks like a modded watch. To me the best modded watches or builds are the ones that don't like mods.

Want to regain your confidence in setting the seconds hand? Just put a tiny dot of Rodico on the tip of the setting tool, and pick the seconds hand with it, pipe down, and it’ll be a complete breeze. Once I discovered this technique I’ve been setting seconds hands like a pro.

I started my own Islander build finally and WHAMMO! Got a kink in my crystal gasket and had no more. Then I had a good chuckle at all of the people asking 20 to 40 bucks for a replacement. For what amounts to an oversized washer 😂 I did find a reasonable price through Cousins UK so the wait continues. It's fun watching this one come together in the mean time.

i second the positive comments about build a watch though we are ending up with something a bit more conventional than i expected. not a criticism but observation. that said got to go with a red lightening bolt or red mercedes to mix it up a wee bit!

I had the same thought. Watching the first couple progression made me think people were basically going to rebuild the Islander Yachtmaster that I think is still the top selling Islander. I guess people really like that style 😁

Hey Marc have you ever thought about selling upgraded clasps for Islanders? You're actually wearing the one I'm thinking of, my all time favorite ISL-37, I wish it had a more dressy clasp, like a president-style hidden clasp or I don't know something a little different. It's not that it has a bad clasp, it's just that it's the same one from my ISL-21. Thanks! PS Excited to see how this shakes out.

I'd toss away those lightning and snowflake hands. SKX orange and silver also Mercedes in orange or silver. Blue on blue is hard to see, red is not bad but there had to be some other red accent either on chapter ring, bezel or crown to match it. Orange and blue go better together IMHO.

When I voted last time for a different second hand I was thinking a blue would be a natural fit. Having now seen the contrasting orange on that dial, that's the colour I voted for. The Mercedes variant though. I never understood logic for having the lume on the wrong side of the hand.

I vote Orange Lighting Bolt, though I'd love a Yellow option. Depending on the second hand we end up with, I wonder if a different chapter ring would have been chosen to match instead of the one we got?

Look at the world around you. The cars we drive and the buildings we make. Look at the colours. Shiny grey and off white and dark blue and dark grey. We make our world using the Tombstone Colour Chart. Now look at this watch as it's constructed by the majority. I'd put a red or orange second hand on there to try and break it up a bit, but I predict silver or black or white. I hope I'm wrong. Hey! What about a second hand with a little representation of a virus on the end of it? In bright puce green? Thanks for the series Marc.

with the silver hour and minute hand, changing the second hand color just doesn't seem to work, it's like an afterthought that sticks out in a bad way. i feel like the second hand needs to be silver now too. maybe a colored tip would work. i don't know, just my two cents.
