R.I.P. Tina Turner!!! Oh mane! I’m sad that she passed away and she was the Queen of Rock and Roll. She was such an inspiration to all of us who had such a great run in the music industry. She had retired from the music industry after she was touring and dancing for so long. The singing and dancing did take a toll on her body as well as her health. She will be missed by many of her dearest fans.

Y’all can tell the world didn’t like Ike Turner for the way he handled her career and how he was beaten Tina so much she left him out in the cold. He doesn’t deserve to be with no one. Nobody in the music industry have honored him at all. Nobody helped him during his time in the music industry. Everybody went to Tina and help her succeed as a musician.

"I did no more to Tina than I would want someone to do to my mother" That's the problem right there. He probably grew up seeing domestic violence as normal.
@eliwol3789
@eliwol3789 3 жыл бұрын
Don’t read into things inaccurately. He was saying that he wasn’t abusive as portrayed, and his conduct would be acceptable to someone treating his mother that way. Keep in mind Tina was not the little virgin they made her out to be before meeting Ike. She already had kids from Ike’s band member and a random guy who she didn’t know his identity. He raised all of them and married her and provided for them. Tina abused Ike just as much as he abused her.
@msjessicahall
@msjessicahall 3 жыл бұрын
@@eliwol3789 I truly believe that. I've seen the movie so many times, and just rewatched it today on hulu. I had no idea she kids before ike. I have to look that up. But I truly believe if he was just closed-fist punching her all those years for almost no reason, she never would have survived that unless she fought back hard.

@Shadow Play in the Woods she literally had a child with Ike's band mate and she wasn't that innocent either as her movie portrays her to be lol. Finding out new information on her as I got older was mind blowing
@MickeyDs14
@MickeyDs14 3 жыл бұрын
@@eliwol3789 she had one [single] child before she was with Ike. Just like Ike had children before he married Tina and even fathered a child while they were married. Her not being an innocent virgin doesn’t mean Ike wasn’t a narcissistic abuser towards her. Why did she need to be a completely innocent virgin in order for her claims of abuse to be valid!? We were not there, she was. And he admitted in this video and in his book that he hit her. Y’all kill me, man.

Back then that was the normal. The man of the house in the black community was meant to keep the wife and kids in line. My grandma said if you called the police for domestic violence they basically said "that's family problems they'll get back together when everything settles" That's why they see no wrong in it

True story: My mom used to sing as a backup singer in many of Ike and Tina's early gigs. I grew up seeing photos of my mom on stage with Tina (and other older R&B acts) and hearing stories about how badly Ike abused Tina. My whole family went to see the movie when it came out, as my mom had such an emotional connection to it. My mom sat, absolutely quiet, with her eyes glued to the big screen. Her silence was only interrupted by her sobbing during certain scenes of the movie. My mom is a STRONG woman and it was only the 2nd time I had ever seen her cry, up to this point (the 1st time was during my grandmother's - her mother - funeral). According to my mom, the abuse was MUCH, MUCH WORSE than what was depicted in the film! I've always had an appreciation for Tina Turner because of the stories and because she survived the abuse - like so many other courageous woman - and prospered, thereafter. Ike is one of those people who are so screwed up they can't stop being themselves long enough to even drum up a decent, halfway-believable lie! I mean, slapping her to essentially put her in a better mood? What a joke!
@martell203

@@mrbrownroyyal I hate to say it but, thinking of how he would say the same lines, it probably would have came off as funny or not as 'scary.' Personally, as far as looks, I would have chosen Eddie Murphy, but Laurence nailed the role, like the original comment said. He made it terrifying, like how it really was.
@mrbrownroyyal
@mrbrownroyyal 2 жыл бұрын
@@tormentorchick1755 Yes Laurence did nail it, and him and Angela worked together on Boyz N The Hood, so there was already chemistry. Personally, I dont see Eddie as Ike, but the perfect Ike outside of Laurence would've been Thomas Jefferson Byrd. He passed away a few years ago, he did a lot of Spike's films. Look him up and let me know what you think.

You can tell by his composer and stuttering that he was a lying abusive bastard. My step father was the exact mirror image of Ike turner, beating my mom, me, and my siblings as if he was a man possessed. Beating us with wire hangers, studded belts, extinction cords, and anything else he could find. He has punched, kicked, bit, spit on and pushed my mom down a flight of stairs and dared us to start crying about it. He has even slammed me on a glass table when I was only four years old. I'm 28 now, and surprisingly I don't hate the man. I only pity him. I pity him because he's in bad shape at this very moment, but he still believes and talk as though women should bow down and worship men like slaves. Men like Ike and my stepfather always get what they deserve in the long run, which is loneliness and misery for all the physical, mental, and emotional pain and suffering they bestowed on the ones they claimed to "love".

So sorry we had to go thru that. There's nothing worse than a child having to witness their mother being beaten . Regardless of what goes on in the bedroom afterward I don't see why why these women stay with their abusers especially when there's kids involved being traumatized by each & every beating they witness. I'm sorry but if a woman wants to keep her dumb ass in that type of relationship please make sure you don't have kids or if you do find a better home, & a better environment for the kids away from that mess. I would have rather been put up for adoption. As I got to be nine or ten I had so much animosity against my dad of course but even more against my mom. I wondered how could she have so little self respect for herself to stay & did she wonder or even care about what it was doing to her kids? Even as an adult with my own kids I remember everything clearly to this day. I vowed to never put my two through anything like that. I advise anyone who is in an abusive marriage or relationship to get out because no matter how much you love him he doesn't love you or your kids. A man who genuinely loves you & your kids would never do anything to hurt you. We were just blessed because more often than not the abusive relationship turns into a deadly relationship. My two cousins lost their mom to domestic violence when they were teens. Never love anyone harder than you love your kids & yourself. I pray for all the children who are going through this & there's nothing they can do about it until they're old enough to get out on their own.Ladies think about the trauma you're causing your children. Think, is he worth it?? HELL NO!!

A man who puts his hands on a woman and her kids is a damn coward. Ike was a damn coward just like my step father. I pity them both. A man who puts his hands on a woman, wouldn't dare try that with another man. They actually ball up and fold like paper when confronted by another man.
