Been looking forward to this, awesome stuff! Didn't realize how big the "idol culture" was with girls keirin, but I guess it makes sense.

Not a bad idea.. I'll try asking him the next time I see him, that would be awesome. Video and photo combo.. BTW, just got into a "mock keirin race" at Ogaki scheduled for 2 weeks from now. Should be another fun one :)

I read that they got rid of it a few years ago because of how unpopular it was it with the riders

i have a question, why men and women using different type of frameset? is there any kind of rule?
@space-skeleton7 жыл бұрын
Men's Keirin requires steel frames and the various traditional NJS rules where as women are allowed UCI legal frames.
@julz194 жыл бұрын
Men are just a lot stronger. So heavier frames, longer laps and rough housing is allowed

why dont they race the HED 3 spokes ? always thought they are allowed to use those !? I understand the thing you mentioned with the disc and the Wind but why not the 3 spoke ?

Alexander O. Actually on this day one of the wheels failed, so to level the playing field all riders had to use the classic style wheels.

Those rollers are like the ones we used back in the fifties. T he rollers are like six inches in diameter. Not like the ones they sell now that are more like two or three inch diameter. The smaller rollers are far less stable and much more difficult to master.

Such quality content. Most of your videos both teach me something about cycling culture I don't know and entertain me, I really like that. You stated in your video that in women's Keirin "sweeping" is prohibited, is this referring to moving quickly to the outside of the velodrome away from the pack? Could you expand upon that? Thanks man.

Chris Peltzer thanks always Chris! In keirin there are three types of attacks which riders follow loosely. Senko, long sprint from the gun. Makuri, a mid-range sprint. Oikomi, timing your attack to jump from the last corner. It's literally a written code. Within a 9-man race some riders will have relationships based on all kinds of things like being friends or being from the same region, but one of them might not be good enough to win. Therefore it's his job to close down attacks, usually the late attack, by moving his bike quickly up the track directly in front of the attacker's wheel. Dangerous!

Why females ride aluminium or carbon ,maybe, frames(probably, because of the tubing shape) while males ride the thin tubing ones, made of steel?

I love Mikabi's legs. I love a girl with some muscle on her legs rather than long and skinny. I'll have to keep up with Girls Keirin in the future.

Well the atmosphere in that velodrome was non existent! Ok it’s outside, but I thought a Japanese keirin would be amazing! It wasn’t. Give me an indoor venue every time . Sorry but this is boring

Chances are, this was one of the lower grade races. I only began to watch them, starting with the Keirin GP last year. Higher grade meets tends to have a fair bit of crowds - the Grand Prix and the G1 races is where all the big crowds get together
