The 1992 Fox body Mustang GT 5.0 and SN95 have problems. I love my 92 fox body mustang Gt 5.0 and 95 but they need work. Hopefully can fix it because the 87-93 Mustangs are favorite.

I've always put it in 5th gear then quick back in to revers that's what figured out and I've been driving 1987 mustang GT 5.0 for way over 30 year's still original transmission and engine no rebuilds drive train has over 600,000 miles still runs great only changed sensors , water pump , alternator , Clutch , battery and tune ups that it great reliable car drove from N.Y. to California many many trips also from Florida to Connecticut just about every year 🦉

Your IAC Valve on the 92 controls your idle. it is connected to the throttle body spacer. It gets dirty and your idle is affected. you can try to clean it, if not replace it. Remember the car sat for a while. common issue.

to stop the grinding in reverse, you have to go into 1st gear then reverse. This is common with the T5 trans. Pull the HVAC controls and there is a cable that controls the Hot and Cold settings. Also check to see if if the HVAC controls is plugged into harness, and also check the fuse to see if it is blown. Check also the blower motor under the glove box. There are 4 bolts that hold the seats down. very easy to fix. This is for the 92 Fox. With the 95, the belt tensioner may be worn and need to be replaced. Also change the belt and oil. Maintenance is key and these Ford 302 last. Hope this helps.

Nice vid. Cool collection of Fords. I found that using a spray can product with a nozzle straw usually gives you better results in putting the product in the right spot. Try using one on the belt spray while the car is running, and you’ll get more coverage on the belt; same for cleaning the EGR and getting up into the hidden areas. Good luck and keep up the content.

For the fox, I've always been taught to go to first then reverse. It won't grind if I di that, it becomes a habit as well....I now do this with every manual I drive lol. The reverse issue is a pretty normal thing for the t5 transmissions, happens to em all. If the fan works for the heater but doesnt get heat it's probably the heater core lines being bypassed. Check under the hood at the firewall to see if the lines have been looped together instead of going to heater core. This is another foxbody issue. The door lock issues will need to remove the door panel to see. There are tons of videos to help with that. The inside door handles sticking out a little is common as well, there are videos to show you how to adjust them, but most people just live with it.

Love 💗 you’re rides! It’s a pulley. I have a Taurus and a sable Regular oil works as will . It’s probably the tension pulley. I just spray a squirt of oil on both and dies the trick. Belt conditioner works for like one day for me vs reg oil

Hey there! Great video. If your key won't turn to lock the doors on the car you can spray a bit of dry lube in the key hole and turn the key back and forth a bit. If the power door lock button doesn't do it either tho then it's likely the actuators. Brew2l has some good videos on idle issues and a base idle reset, also a great channel to follow for fox body peeps like us. Definitely check the fuses. If you can't get it into reverse try going from 5th gear into reverse. The squeaky belt could be a pulley but check to make sure it sits tight. If it's not nice and tight it will squeak. But look at you! You're doing it with great enthusiasm. Don't give up, just keep swimming!

My cousin owned one, back in the day. He also had a lot of electrical problems. One day it was raining and his windshield wipers stopped working. He had to stick his head out of the window in order to finish the drive. He had already replaced the fuse.

On the 1992 Fox Body GT: High idle: 1. Check to see if the Evap. Charcoal canister is still there! It's in the right forward corner of the right fender. If the purge valve is faulty and stuck open it will cause a vaccum leak. You check it for operation with it still in the car. Use a multimeter, also check for power in the harness/wiring going to the purge valve. 2. High Idle; The idle air control valve (IAC) could be worn out. I would just replace it. High Idle and A/C Heat not working; check for vaccum hoses broken, torn or disconnected under the hood and under the dash. The evap charcoal canister has a hose that goes to the intake manifold. It should be hooked up, plugged into the manifold. If the fan does not come on for the A/C Heater control panel the ignition switch is worn. The ignition switch is on the steering column, NOT where you put the ignition key. The Round Ford key is for the hatch only, the rectangular key is for the doors. The thin metal rods in the door control the inner door handle. Usually the plastic/metal retainers wear out and make it difficult to open the door from the inside. The wiper is easy to install, just get one from a junkyard. The circular part of the wiper arm has a wedge thing that has t be pushed up to release it from the wiper arm post. Good Luck with the Fox!!

I highly recommend removing the mufflers on the fox. My grandfather's '89 is stock exhaust from the h pipe forward, but the mufflers are gone. It's a nice mellow rumble at idle, but a fantastic roar at WOT.

Like I posted on your other video where you bought the Fox Body, I had an 89 Fox Body and it too was plagued with mechanical problems. I had a broken lobe on a piston. My transmission went out on the way to one of my Final Exams in college. Wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. It screamed driving back home. I also had numerous problems with the auto door locks. The baffles broke loose in my gas tank. And the innards of my catalytic converter broke loose as well. The 6 years I had the car, it was in the shop more often than not. And this was from 89 to 95. So it was a "new car" then.

@@GirlsDigMustangs No. I can't drive cars anymore. I'm disabled and can only get into and out of trucks due to the higher seats and their more natural sitting position. I'm on my second truck since my accident. First was a 1999 Dodge Ram. Accident was late 1998. Second one is my current 2016 F150 and I love it. 3.5L EcoBoost. Makes great power and has more Torque than the standard V8 Coyote and GM V8. You gotta go to the big V8s to get more Torque than what the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost puts out.

On the locks I replaced my actuator motors on both sides and fixed the issue. If the lock actuator motors seize that could cause your problems. On the reverse I had my 90 since 2001 and I always hold the clutch then shift to first while holding the clutch shift reverse and never grinds, for some reason if I just try to shift Into reverse it does grind sometimes, could be the syncros.

Well, the channel will be very involved with keeping up with the maintenance of your mustangs. Not really a bad thing. We are here to help. If you weren't prepared for that then sorry for that downer. Honestly, all the issues you're having aren't that big of a deal. These cars are old now its all expected. You will have so much knowledge on working on these cars in no time :). I like your collection. You could make money on these if you wanted to sell them later. With the Fox. If the idle is hanging. Its more than likely the IAC (idle air control valve). Very common issue when they get dirty or faulty and get stuck in a high position. You can take it off with and try to clean it with the throttle body cleaner. They are relatively inexpensive part. With the reverse, all the other comments are correct, 1st then rev . SN 95. Sounds like a pulley. Maybe the tensioner pulley. Kinda easy to replace if thats the issue. Good luck!

Check your belt tensioner on your sn95 its probably a good idea to replace the belt as well it's super easy and they aren't expensive. Just make sure when you change a serpentine belt that you take a picture of the old one on there so you have a reference incase you forget how to loop it around.

It's the throttle position sensor on the 93. Squirt some PB blast in your door locks. And in your door latch. When they start moving. Put some PB blast lithium grease in there. Also on the door pins. Those foxbodys are notorious for the door pin bushings going out. Lithium grease provides a great barrier between brass and steel. I would loosen all the bolts on the seat, and see if I could push the seat belt out. I believe there's two different sizes front and rear. Your EGR tube may have an obstruction in it as well. That battery is corroding like that because one of your ground straps is worn out. Usually the engine to body ground strap rot out. That squeaking is your PCV valve. There is a vacuum leak around the rubber grommet. Or the rubber grommet is cracked and dry rotted. Underneath that PCV valve, is a PCV screen. This gets plugged up with The Leftovers of junk oil. Which will hinder its performance. The only rubber grommet that is going to work is from Ford. Ford Motorcraft parts are going to work the best. Where is a video here on KZbin that will help you spot and identify counterfeit Motorcraft parts. It will significantly help you in the future. By the way... Did you know you can completely eliminate the EGR system in 93 + 95 5.0? To do so is a little expensive up front. But we'll save you so much money in the future. From one Ford Mustang Aficionado to another... Welcome to the club.

When dealing with squeeks like that, a mechanics stethiscope is very useful for figuring things out. It is most probably the idler pulley that is the culprit here, which is fairly simple to change. Someone mentioned the possibility if it being the throwout bearing in the transmission. There is a very simple test for that. Just depress the clutch pedal slightly to place a load on the throwout bearing, and the squeak should go away. I would recommend getting a service manual on each of the vehicles. These are invaluable for the home mechanic.

There is a old trick that has always worked for me when your grinding gears go from 1,then 2,then reverse all while holding in the clutch real fast, works every time, also the squeak your hearing is coming from your pully tensioner.

Easy way to check each pulley is to spray each pulley while the car is running with some soapy water (water with dish soap). If you spray one and the squeaking stops momentarily and comes back you most likely have the one that needs replaced.

Lol lots of the problems with your 92 I had with my 90 gt, the reason your doors won't lock is the door actuators are probably shot , I replaced mine and they work perfect lock and unlock it's not a hard job but if you never done it will take some homework. You may have a different issue with your heater but my heater would only blow on the floor ,turned out the vacuum motors that control the doors opening were corroded and stuck on the floor setting ,fixed them when I changed my heater core. It's the little things that add up and not to expensive if you can do it yourself. When you drive older cars like that or like I drive it's always good to have a backup , best of luck to you, fox body mustangs are fun to drive just be prepared to fix some things.
