@aesaphyr9 ай бұрын
Yes, I am actually surprised there aren't more comments about Phil! Rest in peace, Phil. Technically "alopecia" is a symptom, it just refers to hair loss of any cause. But people tend to use the term alopecia to refer to an autoimmune condition which specifically attacks your hair follicles and causes the hair to fall out. So technically Phil did have alopecia in that he had hair loss... but he didn't have the autoimmune hair loss, his was due to hormone deficiency, in his case Cushing's (lack of cortisol).

Both Addison’s (underactive) and Cushing’s (overactive) can impact hair due to the affect the adrenal gland and cortisol can have on protein uptake. You need to do a panel to know for sure.

@user-qz8wo6fe3s Yes, I know that unfortunately, they can still spray. My family had a male cat years ago that still sprayed although he was fixed. All of the other fixed males we had didn't. I'm really hoping he leaves my couch alone after 😓😖🤞
@rokelle_20129 ай бұрын
@@deniserobinson8294 The longer you leave them unaltered the more likely they are to continue to mark and be territorial when they are older. I think with cats it is best to get them neutered ASAP even if they're more likely to get chonky. Our Spooky whom we just recently helped cross the rainbow bridge didn't get fixed until he was close to a year and a half and he was pretty lean his whole life but he would mark things when he'd get angry with us, such a pain to get out of anything, I'm still finding items he'd peed on and cleaning them. Get the Nature's Miracle enzyme cleaner and the laundry booster if you have articles that need washed. It's been a huge help with us getting the cat urine smell out of everything.

For the dogs that "don't like" brushing.. maybe try a different brush? My husky absolutely hates those types of brushes, but if i use any other brush, she doesn't mind at all. I use a terminator, undercoat rake, comb, and a regular hair brush and she does great with those. I've never had a dog that has tolerated those slicker brushes.. and quite honestly, i wouldn't either.
