I have an issue with Street preachers. I don't think its a good way to witness to people. It may of been useful in the past but people are tired of religion because of sects, cults, and so many different denominations. Sometimes I think that street preachers actually make Christianity look bad. I have NO issue about people talking about SIN, however shouting that message out doesn't seem to be a good way to witness to people. I think that the church should promote more logical and rational 'street preachers', like Cliffe. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey man. People in the world these days may be tired of the approach of street preaching, but lets not let MAN determine our evangelistic approach, method and how we go about things. Lets look to God's word. There might be some street preachers that make Christianity look bad, but we can't say that it's not a good way to witness to people simply based on some of the bad apples or extremists who do it the wrong way. Furthermore, Jesus, the apostles and disciples "shouted" (lifted their voices) about sin and warned people about hell, Jesus himself told people to "repent or perish," do you shy away from saying that as well? Christians are commanded to evangelize. To share/preach the Gospel (the good news of Jesus Christ) with others. Street preaching is just one of a few Biblical methods and approaches to evangelizing/sharing the Gospel. Jesus did it, Paul did it, Peter, Noah, every Prophet of God was an open-air preacher, the Apostles and so on. In Mark 16:15 Jesus says to “...go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” The word “preach” comes from the Greek word 'kerusso' which means to publicly proclaim, to declare, to announce, or to herald a message. This is what a street preacher does. In Matthew 10:27, Jesus speaking "What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops” Isaiah 58:1 “Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins.” In Luke 14:23 Jesus said “And the Lord said to the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.” These are just some of the commands that are consistent with what an open-air preacher does. I know people personally who have come to faith in Christ through a street preacher. If it is done right, it does bear fruit, even if it is merely planting a seed in a person. 1 Corinthians: 6-8 tells us that God is the one who will sovereignly bring about growth in a person through the proclamation of the Gospel when we share and that we may not see the fruit immediately in that very moment. “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth...” Even when the apostles and disciples preached, people were turned away and not every single person had ears to hear or came to faith in Christ.

Blasphemy against the holy Spirit simply means making a mockery of the ministry of the holy Spirit by rejecting Christ. We know that God who says that many are called and few are chosen is also being absolutely fair and just. This means that His choosing must be based upon justice otherwise it wouldn’t be fair. God is fair and just. It’s clear that He doesn’t call all. But he does call many. And of the many, only few are chosen. He would like to choose all but not all are worthy. There are some that He doesn’t call such as the Pharisees who jeered at Him telling Him they would believe who He said He was if He came down off His cross. It’s therefore probably ok to surmise that those whom God doesn’t call are the seriously wicked ones; Such as those who knew of the resurrection, because they paid off the guards to say the disciples stole the body away, while they were sleeping. But we who are “the called” know that to be in the category of the few who are chosen, we obviously have to be worthy. We know that this must mean leading lives of complete obedience to God. Not 75% obedience or 95% obedience but 100% obedience to God. What does Jesus say. “ if you love me keep my commandments” Who gave the commandments to Moses? God did, right? Who is God? Jesus is God. Therefore who gave the commandments to Moses? Jesus did. In revelations on 3 separate occasions it speaks about those who keep the commandments of God. One of the commandments is to keep the 7th day sabbath. Are you doing it? No? Do you think you should be chosen? Revelation 12:17 King James Version (KJV) 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 14:12 King James Version (KJV) 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 22:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

You can’t earn salvation, Christ paid our debt for us. God has given us free will and that leads to choosing to live with or live without the Lord. God isn’t cherry picking who he wants in which eternal destination, he’s given us the autonomy to choose based on the proof of Christ’s sacrifice.

@@jessicarainsford7609 Yes I agree with you that we don’t earn our salvation. We are saved by grace and not by works lest any man should boast. But in gratitude to God for our salvation, we want to please God. And knowing that keeping the commandments pleases God, we therefore keep them. And not only do we keep them, but God says in His word in Revelations, that the keeping of them will be an identifying sign of the believers. But those whom God knows will not fully repent and instead continue in sin and not keep the commandments, are those He does not choose. Yes God would choose all and wants to choose all but those who don’t want to be chosen, deeming repentance to be too great a price to pay, are not chosen by God. Without the assistance of God to repent, we will not repent, albeit we do it of our own freewill. But because God knows we will repent He therefore orchestrates our lives so we can indeed repent. And that orchestration is called predestination.

Read only the King James Bible. Biff all the other bibles out. Let me explain. Satan is opposed to the word of God. When he couldn't stop the bible from going forth all over the world his solution was to infiltrate it and pervert the word of God. How did he do it? There are about 5 or 6 thousand old bible manuscripts dated back to antiquity but not all of it is kosher. However the stuff that was considered the real deal was put to one side as the wheat and the stuff that wasn't kosher was put to the other side called the chaff. The King James is translated from the wheat and that pile was called THE RECEIVED TEXT. But satan the enemy of Christ got a couple of ungodly guys called Wescott and Hort to do a re selection from the pile of wheat and chaff and these guys put a whole lot of chaff into this re selection. And their pile is called THE NESTLES TEXT. And all the bibles except for the King James have been translated from this perverted NESTLES TEXT. If you want to check it out, look up Gail Riplinger. She has done a study on it and wrote a book called NEW AGE BIBLE VERSIONS. Also she is on Utube.

What day is the biblical Sabbath, Give me an answer. Using scripture.
@Apologia5
@Apologia5 5 жыл бұрын
The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the church. The Sabbath is still Saturday, not Sunday, and has never been changed. But the Sabbath is part of the Old Testament Law, and Christians are free from the bondage of the Law (Galatians 4:1-26; Romans 6:14). Many point to Exodus 20:11 or Genesis 2:3 to say that the sabbath day is the 7th day in which God rested. Although God's rest on the 7th day did foreshadow a future Sabbath law, there is no biblical record of the Sabbath before the children of Israel left the land of Egypt. Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that Sabbath-keeping was practiced from Adam to Moses. Sabbath observance was a special sign between God and Israel The only times the Sabbath is mentioned from Acts through Revelation, the occasion is Jewish evangelism, and the setting is usually a synagogue (Acts chapters 13-18). Paul wrote, “To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews” (1 Corinthians 9:20). Paul did not go to the synagogue to fellowship with and edify the saints, but to convict and save the lost. There is no obligation for the New Testament believer to keep the Sabbath There is one time the Sabbath is mentioned after Paul began to focus on the Gentiles, “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ” (Colossians 2:16-17). The Jewish Sabbath was abolished at the cross where Christ “canceled the written code, with its regulations” (Colossians 2:14)
@AeroZeppelin-rb4pt
@AeroZeppelin-rb4pt 5 жыл бұрын
@@Apologia5 people tell me this same lie i guess you could say that the sabbath was only for Israel it's simply not true brother the bible says other wise. Roman's 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. 1) Adam and Eve were not Jewish. “God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it” (Genesis 2:3) before sin entered. “Sanctified” means “to be set apart for holy use.” The only ones in the Garden of Eden for whom the Sabbath was “set apart” were Adam and Eve, who weren’t Jewish. 2) “The Sabbath was made for man.” Mark 2:27. Jesus said this. It was “made” in the Garden of Eden before it was “written” down on Mount Sinai. The Sabbath was “made” for “man,” not just Jews. 3) The other nine commandments are not “just for Jews.” God wrote “Ten Commandments” on stone, not just nine (See Deut. 4:12, 13; Ex. 20). Does “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” and “Do not bear false witness” apply only to Jews? 4) “The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.” Exodus 20:10. God calls the Sabbath, “my holy day.” Isaiah 58:13. The Bible never calls it “the Sabbath of the Jews.” It isn’t their Sabbath, but God’s. 5) The Sabbath commandment is for the “stranger” too. The fourth commandment itself says the “stranger” is to rest on the Sabbath. Exodus 20:10. “Strangers” are non-Jews, or Gentiles. Thus the Sabbath applies to them too. Read also Isaiah 56:6. 6) Isaiah said Gentiles should keep the Sabbath. “Also the sons of the stranger … every one that keeps the Sabbath … for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people .” Isaiah 56:6, 7. Thus the Sabbath is for Gentiles and “all people,” not just for Jews. 7) “All” mankind will keep the Sabbath in the New Earth. In “the new earth … from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, says the Lord.” Isaiah 66:22, 23. Here God says that “all flesh” we will be keeping the Sabbath in “the new earth.” If this is the case - and it is - shouldn’t we start now? 8) Gentiles kept the Sabbath in the Book of Acts. “The Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath … Paul and Barnabas … persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.”‘ Acts 13:42, 43. Here saved-by-grace Gentiles kept the Sabbath (see also verse 44). 9) “The law” [of Ten Commandments] is for “all the world,” not just for Jews. Paul wrote these words. Read Romans 2:17-23; 3:19, 23. 10) Luke was a Gentile who kept the Sabbath. Luke was the only Gentile who wrote any New Testament books (he wrote The Gospel According to St. Luke and The Acts of the Apostles). Luke traveled with Paul and wrote, “On the Sabbath we went out of the city by a river side.” Acts 16:13. It was the seventh-day Sabbath, the memorial of the creation (see Ex. 20:11). Both Luke and Paul knew it. Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall ALL flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

To answer Weston’s question the Sabbath is from Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown. The Jewish days are from sundown to sundown, not like us from midnight to midnight. You’ll find this in the beginning of the Bible at creation...”the evening and morning were the first day...” like Jesus said, “are there not twelve hours in a day?” This is where a lot of people get confused when they are trying to figure things out in the Bible by using our midnight to midnight. And to the others on here, the actual Sabbath “day” is for the Jews only. This is just one scripture to show this: “...moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me that they may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them...” Ezekiel 20:12 This is God speaking to the house of Israel who are the Jews. Christians don’t observe an actual “day” as the Sabbath, we believe in Jesus who is God’s Sabbath rest for us. The Sabbath day was given as a sign and a foreshadowing of Jesus. All days belong to God. That is why Paul clearly says in Col 2, “Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a festival, a New Moon, or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.” He specifically speaks of Sabbath.

As it’s generally considered by many that one of our prime motivators in this life is the desire to achieve, Then should we be surprised if we are opposed to those who oppose our achievements? If God is one of those opposing our achievements, then should we be blown away to see a reaction of retaliation. Let’s be fair. Let’s be just. Let’s be reasonable. Let’s be real. God’s stupendous achievements are such that they make our ones seem puny by comparison, so much so, that our achievements don’t seem like achievements at all, by comparison. Can we therefore say that God is opposing our achievements? No. What can we say? We can say that God’s achievements are such that they dwarf our achievements so much that the greatness of HIS ONES oppose the greatness of our ones to the degree that our achievements don’t seem like achievements at all. A native from the nineteenth century who is justifiably proud of His one man dug out canoe, feels less proud of it when he inspects Lord Nelson’s ship the Victory, with its 3500 tons that carries a crew of 850 and 104 cannons being the number of guns. If we inspect our achievements by comparing them to what God has achieved we will ever be dissatisfied and disappointed. However if we firstly ensure that we are worshiping and loving God, we will be satisfied and pleased with what we have achieved. Be it dug out canoe or a 747. And although those natives who clobbered Captain Cook to death, and by doing so temporarily lost their sense of inferiority, so too do those who kill off God by saying He ain’t there, also loose their sense of inferiority. But God is still there. Those atheists who say that they would not be affected by the existence of God who abounds in stupendous achievements, are simply people who run away from the truth in order to feel important or worthwhile instead of being somewhat diminished. Atheists exists because they can’t stand the competition. They can’t handle being a nobody compared to God. Therefore they foolishly say He’s not there. That’s one way to handle the problem. But it’s the wrong way. We handle the problem by worshiping and loving God. In other words we join forces Him. We join forces with God.

As we allow ourselves to get into the higher levels of appreciating God’s greatness, we are in the realm of what can be described as “the super admiration of His greatness,” which actually is worship and adoration. There is no limit to the greatness of God. However the estimation of our own greatness diminishes as we contemplate God’s never ending greatness. His greatness knows no bounds. It cannot be contained, whereas our greatness contains limitations. Because the revelation of the greatness of God’s greatness is so overwhelming, it overwhelms our greatness and reduces it. However as we are disinclined to be reduced, we are therefore not inclined to overly contemplate His greatness, because the contemplation of it certainly reduces us, or our greatness. There is every probability that the legendary meekness of Moses was due to his capacity to allow himself, without restriction, to contemplate God’s unlimited, never ending, infinite greatness. And through doing so, his own reduction was such that it manifested greatly as extremes of meekness. The limit of God’s greatness doesn’t exist because it is without limits. And for those who are prepared to reflect with great reflection upon the wisdom of God’s never ending greatness, they will ultimately notice the diminishment of their own greatness, to the extent that they will loose much of it, and evidence of this great loss is expressed in a new found aspect called meekness. And whilst we have much to be proud of, we should realise that our achievements, compared to those of the creator, are such that they become so incredibly diminished by the comparison of Him and us, that it invariably results in us not wanting to make the comparison. Hence the reason why many turn away from appreciating God and His infinite greatness. The intoxicant of self admiration is such that an angel fell from heaven because of it. He could have prevented his fall if only he would have allowed himself to admire God’s greatness. Satan teaches us with his great mistake to avoid his atrocious wickedness. He contaminates the whole earth spreading hunger for admiration. But Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour and Redeemer, God With Us, teaches us to love God. Some have disposed of God as an open refusal to consider His accomplishments. These are atheists. Others might take the quick occasional sneaky peak at what God has done. But these cursory looks are abounding in brevity to ensure that their precious self image remains intact and not replaced with meekness. Only a few will stand with gratitude, openly before the open throne of God, worshiping and adoring our God who created us.

@@paulwilfridhuntWell according to the Bible, Satan knows God exists and knows what God has done and acknowledges it even while resenting it, he doesn't question Gods existence, whereas atheism is about having doubts about Gods existence, there's a big difference, I know you might say "Satan inspired atheism" but seeing as we are not convinced that Satan exists either, that means nothing unless you can demonstrate to us that Satan really exists, however, presuming that Satan and a God do exist for a moment, I'm not sure if accomplishment would be the right word to describe anything this God being ever does, after all, if a being has unlimited power, then everything would be a piece of cake for them. Creating a universe would be a walk in the park for this hypothetical being, nevermind 6 days, such a being could do it in 6 nanoseconds if they wanted to, it's not like they would have to struggle to do anything, would you say the God you believe in had to break a sweat when he made everything you believe he made? Would you say he had to 'grunt and groan' under the strain during this creating process you believe he undertook to make everything in the universe? I know the Bible says he "rested on the seventh day" but I don't think there are many Christians left who take that literally, most will tell you that God doesn't get tired and therefore doesn't need to rest, so most see this as more symbolism to add to the collection. I would acknowledge that if such a being really exists that they would possess all of this mind-blowing power and can do things we could never do, sure, someone with that power would have to be respected if they stood in front of us and confirmed their existence, but if this someone who knows everything and has all power does what would be expected of someone with such infinite knowledge and power, where's the accomplishment? If I had ALL knowledge and ALL power, I could do that too, I think of accomplishment as being an achievement someone does against the poor odds of them being able to do it, for example, a severely mentally handicapped man or woman getting a degree in Physics or Chemistry, now, THAT would be an accomplishment or someone with one hand becoming world heavyweight boxing champion, THAT would also be an accomplishment but a being with unlimited power and knowledge has no handicap, no restrictions, no challenges, nobody could hinder them, nothing could even try to stop them from doing whatever they want, where would the accomplishment be? I know you might say "he went to the cross to save the world" etc, sure, but was there any chance at all that he would fail? Could God fail to do what he sets out to do? Presumably, you will say God can't fail and if so, if he can't fail, once again, I ask, where's the accomplishment then?

John Cashin Hello John. I will respond with a few brief posts. Yes you are right. Satan is aware of God’s existence therefore you are right he couldn’t have been an atheist, even though I said on a previous occasion that he was. Regardless as to whether God achieving His achievements are a piece of cake to to Him or not, it doesn’t diminish our admiration of them. When we see a whale effortlessly swimming in the ocean in a magnificent easy way as easy as a piece of cake it doesn’t diminish our admiration of that great fish, does it.

John Cashin Satan’s mistake was to deliberately cease from admiring God’s achievements by deliberately not being cognisant of them. Admiration of self is ok provided it’s tempered by the admiration of God which results in worship of the creator.

John Cashin Satan’s purpose is to thwart the purposes of God anyway he can. And whilst he might not actually be an atheist nevertheless, fulfilling his role as tempter, he stimulates mankind to want to believe in atheism.

I'm a non denominational Christian. How come in your Catholic tradition it states that if anybody denies the Trinity they are accursed from God (2nd Council of Constantinople 553 AD).... Then in the Catholic Catechism it states that Muslims and Catholics adore the same God and Muslims are part of God's plan of salvation (Catholic Catechism 841). Yet Muslims DENY THE TRINITY shouldn't they be accursed??? Your Catholic religion has a unresolvable contradiction that you can never reconcile... Repent to Jesus Christ and become a true born again Christian.

When you become saved you will have a hatred for sin and will repent of it, to cut it our of your life. If a person continues in their sin, is not convicted of their sin and does not take steps to turn from their sin then that is evidence that they are probably not born again. God saves us TO a relationship with Jesus but also saves us FROM sin, not so that we can continue in it. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says that no homosexual will inherit the kingdom of God.

@Apologia5, so you seem to be disagreeing with Cliffe who told the story of the gay person who said he put his total faith in God, according to Cliffe the guy was asked if he'd given up gay sex, and he said no, but I've put my faith in God. Do you agree with the Sultan of Brunei who recently permitted the stoning to death of Homosexuals?. From a western perspective something of that barbarity is absolutely abhorrent, yet that's also what the Bible states, that they should be stoned to death. Who gets to say what is 'sin' and what is the appropriate punishment. I can think of lots of things which I don't believe are sinful, but which you might disagree. Certainly loving someone of the same gender is in no way sinful.

This whole question about God is something I've given a lot of thought to throughout my life. It's one of my favourite subjects to discuss. I'm grateful that I'm able to chat with Christians who tend to have their own personal view. What say you on this topic of whether Gays can be a valid Christian if they don't give up their lifestyle? It's a good question. Not just from a Christian point of view, but also from the atheist perspective.
