Good video but I'm pretty sure you doubled up on one of the small spacers. Bolt - washer - rack - large spacer - SMALL SPACER. That small spacer fits right into the bolt hole on the plastics and one was already there when you started, most likely from the top rack installation.

This fellow does great work.I speed up the playback to 1.25 which works fine.His idea about the bubble rap is good.I lost a spacer before I watched the video.Also starting with the bottom bolts is good advice.I used a tiny piece of scotch tape to hold the spacer,washer and washer together which helped.Also the crossbar didn't fit.It was a few mm too long.I'm going to drill out and elongate the holes in the bar.

I also got the problem with the crossbar. Everything else fits very tightly so I cant fathom that its just some bolts that are too tight. Probably gonna drill it out aswell.

The black bolts Givi uses are not stainless steel (inox)!!! As you said, I replaced some...

I am looking for racks to fit my 650 2019 model for soft panniers. I looked at the Givi racks but they don’t seem to pas the side of the exhaust fully. I haven’t found a producer that does this sort of rack that fully covers the side of the standard 650 exhaust. Shame.

Just get the right soft case. One that doesn't hang too low.

Np its not harder. None of my passengers ever complained. But make sure that the side cases are compatible with the racks

No, not really. It would not make a difference. It's not that the screw will come out rather it may break

@@DrVstromfitted today thanks for this video especially which bolts to start with if fitting alone. If there were two people I’d put all bolts in together as hard to get the “inside” fittings right. Have to say disappointed with the quality including the panniers and locks. My yamaha fjr 1300 luggage came with bike was superb and tough. Love ur channel. I have great difficulty undoing axle nut even though use torque wrench to tighten. Great tip about coolant pipe rubbin on nearside too. Thanks you sir!

Do you experience significant vibrations under seat around 5k when you revit in idle after mounting side racks? Now put both side panniers and vibrations are gone. Can you confirm is this behaviour the case on your vstrom please?

​​@@DrVstrom Well, i do when no panniers attached :( VIbrations stop when I remove cross pipe that connects side racks on rear. Also I noted that you put cross pipe on opposite side than shown in instructions manual. Wider hole for the nut on cross pipe should be on the opposite side of exhaust side. And the pipe is not symmetrical, it makes difference on which side you place the wider hole.

Install like I did and you ll have no vibrations

@@DrVstrom I have. I double checked everything. I used the manual first that came with the rack, and second time following your steps.Everything is fix and strong. Only about 4.5-5 rpm i feel vibrations on seat and noise like buzzing.Same hapens when revving in idle . I looked up and it seems a common problem with givi recks and v stroms.but no one seems to have a clue.

Pair of MONOKEY® Trekker Alaska side cases in natural aluminium, 36 litres, with identical keys and third cylinder to be mounted on any topcase. Equipped with MONOKEY® attachment system. It can only be mounted with the PL_ / PLR_ / PLO_MK / PLOR_MK side case holders. If you go here www.givi.it/per-la-tua-moto/product/suzuki/dl-650-v-strom-17--23/optionals/pl3112cam I can only compatibility with the evo and trekker outback. If I were you I would verify with them to make sure

@@DrVstrom At 1:10 you say they are compatible with any monokey side case. This is actually incorrect as they are only compatible with the Givi Outback Trekker cases.

Each bike will have its own specific side frame identified with a complete code (PLO___N) which will allow you to install different kits and, therefore, different models of GIVI side cases, from the MONOKEY, MONOKEY CAM SIDE, TREKKER OUTBACK hard cases to the GRT709 soft bags. The PL ONE-FIT specific to each motorcycle model will also exist already configured with the fixing system suited to the selected model of case.

@@DrVstrom Just for anyone else buying boxes for this rack. The CAM racks are for the Givi Trekker Outback boxes only. The Givi Alaska or the Dolomiti will not fit on this rack as they are a 3 point mount where as the CAM Rack has a 4 point mounting system.

I am trying to do this myself. However my Vstrom has the hooks for the factory cases which are in the way of the rack. What am I supposed to do about that? Cut them off?

Never mind, I figured it out. It comes with different spacers so the plastic bit that mounts the factory cases can be eliminated entirely.

I have the same problem but I did buy the oem plastic covers whitout the hooks actualy they are called frame cover rear left and right, and about 11€ for both
