Here’s are the main things I used to completely transform my #balcony into a cozy outdoor oasis:
(affiliate links unless stated otherwise!)
Pressure washer (this is not a heavy duty pressure washer, it's best for light cleaning): bit.ly/2pressurewasher
Hand blown Glass Hummingbird feeder: bit.ly/handblownglassfeeder
Artificial Boxwood greenery: amzn.to/2Kw8oXp
Outdoor moroccan lantern: go.magik.ly/ml/d8mp/
Outdoor smart LED lights: amzn.to/2LIe0v2
Double sided removable tape (indoor/outdoor): amzn.to/2zNu3pE
Vinyl Rug - it’s not meant to go outdoors but it is waterproof: amzn.to/2K8VX1o

Hi, just found your site (why I'm watching old vids first) I love how you use hand tools so easily and also just put things together on your table - I was always told you need special benches, clamps etc. If you're looking for ideas for videos then I think ones on what tools you have and use, and beginners guides to using them (with simple projects) would be awesome!. Thanks for all your inspiration.

I'm awed by how confident you are with building things out of wood yourself. I was raised by a mother who never touched a power tool in her life and expected my father to do everything around the house. I wish I was taught to be more confident as a young girl but I'm slowly learning! It's never too late...I just wish I hadn't wasted so much of my life thinking that I needed a man to take care of me and feeling helpless because that's how my mother was her whole life.

You have a lovely balcony, as well as some colorful flowers to add interest! In that small space, have you tried growing some dwarf determinate tomatoes? Those varieties thrive in more compact conditions, and rarely require staking. And if you stagger plantings, you can have tomatoes growing all season long. The basil is also a very nice addition, and it can grow several feet tall in a five-gallon container. Thank you for sharing your balcony oasis with us.

Everyone is using plastic plants but I like to watch and view plants growing and covering the space. Although it takes patience and time to do that, I'd still opt for the natural vs. unnatural. :P good work on the decorating.

Love the cat at the end! No hummingbirds in Aus but i have lots of other types of birds here out in the country. It's great when people make gardens, even in the tiniest of spaces because it makes such a difference to your life. You did such amazing transformations over your time there.

Great idea to add a garden to the balcony! I'm doing the same thing in light of the coming food shortages everyone is talking about when things crash. People would be wise to have a garden if they expect to eat! I made "flower-box style" boxes as long as 6' and which fit over my deck railings. It worked wonderfully last year, and this year I plan to make more. I have too many rabbits to plant in my yard as they eat up everything. Thanks for sharing. You always have great ideas!

Food shortages😳i heard there’s going to be a shortage of holiday items this year because of shipment delays☹️the items that are available will be priced too high and very expensive! That’s why I try to shop at small businesses for the holidays. You know actually get out and go to the small shops for holiday gifts plus it’s good to give business to them in town!

I have a small curved 12' by 2' to 3.5' balcany. It's such a small and awkward space but since I'm an avid gardener I couldn't help but DIY my balcony garden. Last year I built a raised planter out of upcycled pallet wood. (They have like 100 nails each - so it's a project to take them apart!) My raised planter table is 2' in the back and 3' in the front and is 2.5' deep. It has an angle on one side to accommodate the balcony curve. I really like the gardening storage in the rack that I added below. To make it relatively water proof (so water wouldn't drip on my items below), I added a large plastic bag on the base (with a drainage slope towards to back corner), then I added landscaping fabric and finally sooo much soil! My new kitten has been using it as a bird viewing perch since December but with spring Its time to add plants again! This year I'm going to be making a 'catwalk' wooden walkway that hangs off the railing. I'm using over the door hanging brackets that came with a laundry hanging kit. I used the same brackets last year to make a transition table for small beverage use and bbq use.) Hopefully my cat will be less interested in sitting on my planter once she gets her catwalk, lol. Although I might have to add a small seat for her in the planter.

Actually burlap is likely to decompose with the earth and worms etc... The best way to line a plenter is with "geotextile" material (a gardening textile sold in gardening shop) : you make your 4 walls, then line the botom of your box with geotextile material and nail it in place (no need for planks at the botom) The geotextile let water runs out, and does not decompose. (even after 3 years i can still move my boxes filled with plants - burlap on the other hand was eaten by worms in 3 months.)

Great Job- It looks fantastic and you have got so much into such a small space without it looking overcrowded. I am not sure if the tomato plants were full sized tomatoes as it was hard to tell. If they are maybe try Cherry Tomatoes or the type you can put in a hanging basket as they will grown down the side of the box. They are shorter and bushier plants. Nothing tastes better than homegrown so well done!

Love your garden , kudus❣️ And your humming birds AMAZING ! I have been working from home since April 2020. I do enjoy my ‘squirrel proof’ bird feeder. It’s not truly squirrel proof but I enjoy the doves, chickadees , blue jays, buntings and the rare woodpecker and cardinal...and the squirrels. I am hoping to engineer some feeders that will be on a post, catch spilled seed, easy to refill, maybe includes a house for the birds to nest. Stay safe, enjoy your channel so much. Will visit you on Instagram ❣️ Thank you .
