Hello Friend! I recently bought a t2 cruise and it's a really effective and quiet plane..but also slow (especially when climbing). I wanted to ask you what propellers should I put on it to speed it up a bit? Should I try some 9 inch propellers? I know I can't get too much, but I don't expect to either. It currently has 8055 size propellers and 730kv sunnysky 2216 motors

I've loved your videos since the efx with fc video. "Split flaps" aren't much different than "plain flaps" that we commonly use in rc stuff and work fine IMO. The other 2 forms of flaps don't really make it into fpv rc stuff. That's going to be a really solid large cruiser and vtol platform, I like it. Haven't seen that kind of battery space since my Killer Whale. Great video!

If your plane looses altitude in a stabilized mode, it's NOT the CoG. It's simply the Flightcontroller Levelling needs some adjustment. The CoG you have to test in manual mode. Same with the Rudder, you cannot see its efficiency when flying in Horizon Mode, because the ailerons counteract the roll moment. Test it in manual, or at least in a stabilized curve, to see if usable. And the flaps are not there to gain altitude, the main reason is to lower the speed. I see the speed going down drastically, which is a good sign. I just miss that you mention this :-) Nice plane, I also ordered one. Very curious how it flies, and how far I can go with it!
@gizfpv Жыл бұрын
Loss of altitude when hands off the sticks could be a CG issue, although admittedly the aircraft would need to be very nose heavy. I agree it's more likely to be due to the FC accelerometer calibration and pitch offset setting, which is what I was trying to allude to in the video. As for the rudder, you may be right about horizon mode, however on the bench I've done some testing today and there's no more rudder movement in acro mode than there is in horizon mode. So Idk, will need to actually test in flight. Shelby says he noticed his rudder also didn't have much authority either though, and as far as I know he's flying full manual without a FC 🤷

Great check list of tests, and flight debriefing Giz. With the glide test, I noticed airspeed was much lower than when did the flap tests. 23-40 km/h glide vs 50-85 km/h with flap tests. Was a bit surprised at how slow, and still had great handling. With the initial flap test, seemed each increase in flaps decreased airspeed by 15 km/h. A great feature for making slow landings with a larger plane. Nice to see the amps dropped from 10A to ~2A when power reduced from 78% to 40%. This means a very signifiant gain in flight duration could be had based on speed and power setting choices. Regarding the rudder and the yaw wag, if possible, I'd suggest using a rear facing camera to investigate what the rudder deflection looks like in the air. It could also reveal how much the rudder is moving in flight. I would have expected to see more rudder authority than was demonstrated. For the turning tendency, one wing being heavier, a wing having more drag, or an aileron out of alignment could cause it to have a turn tendency. Also if the rudder is not centred, it can cause a hands-off turning tendency. Might just need a tad of trim? Being larger and more stable, a gentle consistent turn is likely more noticeable than a light plane that would have random roll pattern as encountered any bit of air turbulence.
@amax2624 Жыл бұрын
On my last flight with the Phoenix2400, the glider wanted slightly turn to the right. I was noticing that the artificial hozizon was just a tiny bit off from the natural. At home I measured the wing line against the fc reading and it was nearly 2.0 deg off. This might have been the result of some landings in higher weeds. This stressed the wing section where the fc mounting plate is. I simple adjustment did it, straight again....

Yeah could be P factor causing difference in rudder control from left to right. Are both props turning in the same direction or counter rotating?
@gizfpv Жыл бұрын
The props are counter rotating, so it's not a torque issue. Could be a pid issue, could be a physical issue with the fact the rudder on mine isn't quite built perfectly (as it's the prototype), or it could be something to do with differential thrust. I'm going to investigate it further over the weekend

Great video. You're doing a really good job of convincing me I need one of these things in my life. Since they're already selling at full price, I'll probably wait until they get in people's hands and Heewing figures out what minor updates they need to make like they did on the T1, but it sure does look like a nice flying plane and the foam they use is rock solid. It does look to fly at the speed of smell, though. 35kmh for 40% throttle? Given you were only pulling 25A combined at full throttle, there's probably plenty of headroom to put a higher pitch prop on than whatever they sent you, but who knows what kv/pitch combo they'll settle on, with a motor that's a little longer than the prototype setup, too.
@gizfpv Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's certainly not a fast aircraft. I guess you could try a higher pitched prop, however i'm guessing they've designed this aircraft to be a slow but economical long range endurance cruiser (hence the name cruza). Will be interesting to see what it's like on 6s motors. I believe Heewing are gonna send me some at some point, but chances are paying customers will have their T2's first so can gauge from them what it's like

@@gizfpv I don’t know what kind of motors JustFPV had on his (I think he said he doesn’t know either lol, they definitely weren’t the same as yours) but he did his video on 6S and it was maybe faster but… not by much. At 75% throttle he was still only doing something like 60kph. He kept the throttle pretty high the whole time so it’s hard to compare but it still seemed pretty docile. Then again if your motors were specced for 4S and his for 6S it stands to reason his would be 2/3 the kv of yours and perform the same except at a higher voltage and lower current. I guess we’ll find out when the final spec starts hitting people’s doorstep. And yeah if they are calling it a “Cruza” it makes sense it’s not a rocket ship but 35kph is still shockingly slow to me. I still want one though haha.

at 14:29 you mentioned you flying at high throttle, but the amp draw only 8A. Could be due to cause it's setup for 6S but you are using 4S, so more throttle required, but in this case it's also under-prop hence the low amp draw.

@@sr-prod there's not really any such thing as a "4S" or "6S" motor (obviously within reason). Motors generally burn out due to too high current. Turning 8" props at 6S would need a really low kv on motors that small, which is pretty rare. They don't advertise what the kv is on the motors that will come with it, or what pitch the props are, but my guess is that it will be a pretty standard 4S configuration.

@gizfpv Жыл бұрын
It's a possibility. As I said in the video, the design of the rudder on my T2 isn't perfect and it'll be different on the final version of the T2. Could be that the rudder isn't stiff enough on mine, which is causing the side to side waggle. Alternatively it could be a problem with the programming, have had a few suggestions that I need to investigate
