He’s said in an interview that it was his choice not to score the film. He feels like he’s done repeat scores for movies multiple times and he’s over that. He also doesn’t want to be compared to himself. I get it but whoever is the composer has impossible shoes to fill bc the Gladiator soundtrack is beyond epic and can’t be topped. The choice of contemporary music for this trailer is disastrous and nonsensical.

It’s only marginally more anachronistic than a symphonic orchestral piece since those didn’t exist until 1448. If you want historical accuracy, it’s nowhere to be found in entertainment.

Visuals are on point IMO, costumes, sets, cinematography, I mean it's a comfort zone for Ridley Scott. However, JayZ really took me out of it, it's not fitting to the esthetic, period and an overall vibe they are trying to sell here. What was the point?

Heres the thing, the original was squarely centered on Crowes character, the trailers made it clear, it was a character journey with spectacle.. now this trailer looks great.. but whos the lead? Is it denzel because it sure looks like a political thing starring denzel with the gladiator dude needing to be there because action scenes. The gladiator dude seems to have as much charisma as a bowl of lukewarm water in this trailer.

Gladiator was an epic film, with a heartbreaking story, great action setpieces, amazing characters, but most of all emotional depth. The vibe I’m getting from this trailer is just full on action without any depth whatsoever. I never judge a film by a trailer, so I still hope I’m wrong. But this film looks like it walks down the same road the sequel to Train to Busan did. And that sadly did not end so well 😢

Yay! A new trailer reaction. Feels like it's been a long time since we had a reaction video. I've been thinking lately, as a consumer of BTT content for 10+ years, my favorite content is Grace's trailer reactions and of course the livestreams. Always appreciate the inside scoops (though I think Grace said she's backing away from being a scooper recently?) and movie reviews, but there's always been something about the trailer reactions that's made this channel great. Gladiator is like Hunger Games; they are both fighting to the death in an arena. It's cool. I think Gladiator is using the Hunger Games method of releasing its film in November because it worked with the Hunger Games film.

The music in Gladiator II isn’t as good, which is a shame since it was a big part of the first movie. I like the cast, but even though I’m a big fan of Pedro, he doesn’t seem to fit, and I don’t know why. The brothers look insane, which I like!. But Paul’s character isn’t as impressive as Russell Crowe’s alpha male role with his strong and deep-voiced performance in the first film. I’m excited to see it, but I’ll keep my expectations low.

I just watched the first Gladiator on Saturday for the first time and it was better than I expected. I can see how it did well back when it came out. I'm excited for this one, too. I like all the actors involved. I do plan to see both this and Wicked that weekend. This counter programming works in my favor since I'm just a big movie fan.
