You technically have three emperors in this movie. Because Macrinus (played by Denzel) in Roman history Macrinus was a Roman gladiator trainer who overthrough the current emperors Geta (Joseph Quinn) and Caracalla also in the trailer. Then Macrinus became Emperor.

What is annoying is the incels complaining about the diversity of the movie and claim it is too woke for having Denzil Washington in A movie set in Ancient Rome. It is like they have read any real history and just go by what Hollywood has shown them before. There were plenty of black people in Rome and there were Roman Soldiers from the African Roman Legion who helped conquer Britain and even a Black Roman Emperor called Septimius Severus and they still don’t accept historical facts. It is like that new video game Assassin Creed set in ancient Japan and there were huge complaints about the main character in the game being Black, even though the character is based on a real African warrior who helped create Japan called Yasuke, they couldn’t accept a black man being in ancient Japan in a fictionalised game. These Incels need to realise there was an western agenda to erase black history and contributions to world history to make black people seem less civilised and more other to justify the money the west was making from exploiting black people during colonialism and slavery. And now Hollywood is a little more enlightened and not whitewashing history like turning Bass Reeaves the black Cowboy Marshall life story into the Lone Ranger or representing Ancient Egyptians as olive or white coloured people, when they were an African-Arab mix people, the incels are struggling to adapt to Hollywood no longer showing history as white only.

The original movie was much more than action and battles... it's actually the first movie (and one of the rare ones) to have made me cry. It's a deep, touching story, with complex characters. and i hope the sequel will be just as character driven, and not just big action set-pieces just for the sake of it. I like bloody battles as much as the next dude, but Gladiator didn't win the Best Movie Oscar because of those. And WTF with the music in that trailer? The Original's soundtrack was magistral, why not re-use it here... why modern hip hop bullshit? When it kicked in, i just rolled my eyes and cringed instead of having shivers and teary eyes...

The music was 100% wrong for the trailer of an epic time-period movie like this. The visuals were strong. The story seems promising. But the modern music nearly kills my entire enthusiasm for this film. This modern song or any other is probably (hopefully) not going to be used in the film... but that Ridley Scott allowed a trailer company to overlay the trailer with modern music (or chose so himself) really makes me question the overall decision-making here.

@@ambreenzafar7303 usually soundtracks that are played during the trailer or actually part of the film but they only play them during the end credits when the movie is over so it won't break the theme of the movie which is a Roman piece. So most likely Jay-Z is a part of the film in the end credits to hype everybody up and have them feeling excited at the end it will not be played during the actual movie as Rihanna's song for black panther was not played during the movie it was played at the end because Rihanna would overshadow the whole movie
