Valve's official "turret in real-life" 1 minute video has over 7 million views. This is also inspiring me to make some Portal characters irl (like Wheatley) even tho i don't have the money or the space to make them. Mhm i have recently seen someone use Blender to animate his motion control rig - was it Proper Printing? Yeah i think it was. But he borrowed this technique and the corresponding script from someone else, forget whom. This seems like a great way to do it - depending on how comfy you are with a spectacularly feature-creep laden animation software, and i mean, at this point, it's basically less of an application and more of an operating system. It can solve IK for you and do a selection of types of joint constraints to represent the motion limits of the underlying mechanics.
