Glenn is so correct! He states it so well. John disappointed me on this one - his view of trump voters is a terrible caricature. I’m a middle aged lawyer and father, not some 14 year old angry child . . . And I’ve had it with an arrogant dem party foisting bad ideas and morals on us all and then castigating anyone who dare question them. My views are boringly center of the road and common sense oriented, yet I’ve been made to feel like I’m a right wing lunatic when I find it unwise to politicize institutions and undercut traditional values. I’m shouted down if I try to explain that not all issues are simple binaries - either you support the full left wing agenda, or you’re a bigot. Enough is enough - let’s get back to common sense living rather than making every daily matter yet another volley in a revolutionary political war.

That’s a clear message? “His views consist of, honestly someone who thinks he’s playing a game of risk rather than dealing with the real world” -John, Biden just gave Ukraine the go ahead to launch US rockets into Russia, who has the most nuclear weapons on earth. “As for this deep state business, this deep state that doesn’t exist” -John, Russiagate was a lie, 50 former intelligence officers said it had all the hallmarks of Russian disinformation was a lie, the fbi had the laptop at that point, Iraq has weapons of mass destruction was a lie, the nsa isn’t spying on US citizens was a lie -we’re winning the war in Afghanistan was a lie, Illegal immigration is blown out of proportion was a lie, Russia blew up their own pipeline, I could go one for awhile but won’t… “There’s people that don’t like me and I’m going to get em” -John, your party tried impeaching him over russiagate which was a completely made up story, then did impeach him over a public phone call to Ukraine where there was no prid pro qou, and after he lost an election for January 6th riots (without pointing to what he said exactly that caused it.), not to mention all the other BS cases. What I really want to ask John is how does he feel about the Forever War Machine? He seems to be ok with how economic issues hurt regular people, he’s ok with the unfettered mindless illegal immigration. Trump is the only major politician in my lifetime to question the stupid wars. Also, Trump is not a Stand Up Comedian. He’s a builder and a TV star. Endlessly harping on the comedian part insulting at best.

It seems, respectful disagreement is insufficient for having a productive conversation. Both sides presented their opinions, for sure. But unless this leads to a synthesis of different perspectives, a culturally homogenous environment will be more productive. I wouldn't call this kind of conversation "respectful". John clearly does not respect Glenn's intelligence enough to consider deeply engaging with his opinions. That's a politeness at best.

I voted Trump _because_ I've been paying more attention than the average person. Was is one of the worst candidates ever on a major ticket and she was the third VERY bad candidate the Democrats (my party officially) put forth in a row. She relied entirely on celebrity, avoiding having her own positions, and sowing division, Even her attempts to get the support of people the Dems have pushed away over the past decade came off as mockery and satirical stereotyping. And that's ignoring her past evils as an A.G.

John is right in that the economy and immigration were the big factors. If you have interest in the future, then Trump was the obvious choice. I figured it out in 2016, 8 years later John is still wrapped in the elitist bubble.
