In comparing the Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm compact (newest) and Glock 19 Gen5. Out of the box the Smith and Wesson is a better value as it pertains to its sites, trigger and no additional need to enhance the stimpling/grip. Ultimately, both have proven themselves as reliable and dependable. My preference is the Smith and Wesson. Whichever you choose training with that firearm is the most important. Just my 2cents.

Hi Jay! Stumbled upon your channel, I too am behind enemy lines on Long Island lol My wife has a 43X MOS with a 407K on it, she and I both really like it. I have a G19 gen 5 MOS with the new Holosun SCS dot which fits amazing and I love. The thing about dots that I love is it allows me to be target focused. Coming from shotguns and wing shooting that is the way and find it strange how people train pistol shooting to stare at your sites and not the taget. When we got pistols we immediately got dots so we can remain target focused same as we shotgun shoot. But anyways I also need a smaller summer carry. I have narrowed it down to 43X, Sig 365xl, shield plus performance shop. I too am undecided but don't think either way is wrong.

Did you get your carry permit in NY? I am curious about the difference between NY and NJ. Anyway, yes you definitely cannot go wrong! The only reason I did not go with the Glock 43X was because I felt the grip length was still a bit long, and not enough of a difference between that and my Glock 19. Of course, that makes it easier to handle and shoot with, so there is a balance needed based on what you are looking for. Good luck and keep me posted on what you decide.

@@JayCostaUSA we have our pistol permits / sportsman which allows limited carry and taken the course for CCW which will take a few more weeks till we have our full carry. It's a pain in the butt here sounds as bad or worse than you guys. Things are speeding up more and more from what I hear since NYS is constantly getting sued on purposeful delays and more. Makes sense on the Glock 43x vs the 19. The only benefit I've found throwing my wife's gun on is it being thinner it's just more comfortable to carry while printing only slightly less then a Glock 19. Will probably pick up something else for summer just want try a couple more out first.

I find the laser gives me the flexibility to fire from compromised positions without needing to line up a red dot. It also conceals better. I personally won't get a red dot on a carry pistol... Simple reason, I won't need it for self defense at typical self defense range. Noone does. I like dots on my PCC's and AR's. I think/ know their value for competition shooting and even on a dedicated home defense pistol. Things are different when it comes to carry. Think probabilities over possibilities. If you are involved in a legitimate self defense situation, you won't be shooting over 20- 25 yards... If you are, it's likely a battle not a self defense situation, which in more restrictive states will be tough to explain. In other words "why didn't you move away to safety?", will likely be asked. Is it possible you will "need" to shoot someone at a great distance to protect life, as did the young man in the mall who shot an active shooter? Yes, it could happen. Is it likely to happen? No. Most people will never do anything similar or be position to be asked to. Second, red dots add potential points of failure to your EDC. Your EDC needs to be the most reliable pistol you can afford/ handle. My personal EDC line up: Shield 40, Shield 45, FN Reflex, Citadel Officer 45, Hellcat Pro... Pretty much in that order. S&W is simply the most reliable pistol out there... followed very closely by Glock (I'm not a fan/ but have softened a bit since the release of the G45), FN and Springfield Armory are very solid choices also. I am also considering the Taurus GX4 Carry, which I like very much. Taurus gets a bad rap, because of past misses, however they are now a much more solid firearm company and their newer firearms are solid, for their price point. Sorry for the long winded off topic rant... I would, personally, get the M&P milled, if I were getting something like that done.

I liked everything about the m&p 1.0 better except for that darn hinged trigger so that was a pass for me. And I love everything about the Glocks I have owned except for that 2x4 style grip and 19° grip angle, so in the end I was never a big fan because they didn't fit my large palm with medium fingers. Although I won't bore you with a long list of guns, I will say that I am a fan of the original Walther PPQ and the later PDP. But an oddball that I love which fits my hand beautifully is the Ruger 9e full size, The Ruger SR9c subcompact, and the hellcat in the micro 9 size. I also love the Ruger LCP Max 380 as a pocket pistol.
