Glycine Combat Sub pre and post Invicta take over.

My new production GL0249 has that visible o-ring as well. “Old” logo in white print on the dial (which matches the pictures on their website). It also has the nicely engraved version of the screw case back. All I can really gather from researching and hunting down info on these Glycine Subs is that there was a period of time where they changed things up a bit but have now come back to a certain level of excellence that we see in “older” models. I don’t give much credence to “pre vs. post Invicta” arguments, personally. But that’s not to say I don’t appreciate your videos! Quite the contrary. I think these Glycines need all the attention they can get! Great watches. Looking forward to making my own video on mine soon.

Well, that is interesting. It is almost as if there are two different factories manufacturing these combat subs. It would be nice to get to the bottom of why Glycine would b selling two variations of the Combat Sub, which appear to use no common parts. Good luck on creating your vdeo.

Great review! They are fantastic watches and really comfortable. I have the “goldeneye” which has the invicta takeover logo but my case is like the older type with the drilled lug holes. I’d love to see them make a 40mm version!

excellent video. i have the combat sub 42mm and 48mm and i thought one of them was a fake. the way the crown looked polished and one brushed, o ring and no o ring. the way the glycine logo looks like a white outline the other like metal. im glad my 42mm is pre invicta. ill be selling my other one.

Good Comparison but it is worth noting that The Invicta Combat Subs. Also Retail for far less even at Retail vs. Pre Invicta when they were selling at $800+.

Yes, this is true. They are a good value for the money now. I would not, and did not pay what they were asking before Invicta.

I bought my Combat Sub in May 2016 and it has the winged logo on the dial. Invicta bought Glycine in August 2016, so the logo difference isn't how to tell

It is mt understanding that the decision to change the logo was done before the Invicta buy out, but yes one way to tell. However, Glycine did change the logo back to the original logo.

The logo was first introduced in 2015. Glycine joined Invicta in August 2016. In 2018, Swiss Court ordered Glycine to change its logo due to similarity to the Armani logo. The current Glycine logo is de-winged.

I recently purchased a Bronze Combat Sub (GL0281) and I am happy with it. I wish it was 38mm instead of 42mm. Also, I would like to see Invicta reintroduce the AIRMAN in 38mm.

The Glycine Airman no 1 is 38 mm i believe. I would be really happy with a 40 mm combat sub, or even 38 mm. 42 is a tad bit too big for me.

The GL0094 with the blue bezel does also have a very dark blue dial. In my previous comparison video I had initially and mistakenly called it black. When I bought it I thought it had a black bezel and dial, oops.

Help me out here, my Combat Sub GL0087 has the new winged logo on the dial, white border around date, but it has the white hands. It has a drilled lug case, but no serial numbers between the lugs (it's on the case back). The crown stem has the rubber "O" ring, but the crown itself has the newer winged logo. Could this be a transition watch with some of the older features, but built just after the Invicta takeover? I also have an Airman Base 22 GL293 with the old logo on the dial and crown, and the drilled lugs, so in my mind it's definitely pre-Invicta.

Your GL0087 would be from just before the Invicta take over I think. I believe that this combination is more rare then the 3 combinations that I have.

@@WrongTimeWatch Thanks Kevin... I had suspected (heard from two other sources) that this might be the case, but I wasn't certain, so I appreciate you confirming this. I'm a big fan of Glycine watches, and consider them along with Oris, another brand that I've liked for almost 30 years, great value for the money. BTW, I paid $420 USD for the watch new. It also gets more wrist time than my Submariner 114060! I love my pre-Invicta Airman Base 22, a watch I purchased to take over daily duty from my Rolex GMT Pepsi that I've owned for 37 years and wore daily for 30 years (it's just to valuable now). I also think that the Combat 6, GL0112 is another awesome (36mm dressy sport) watch from Glycine. The three would make a perfect three watch collection for well under $1.5K.

My new version GL0088 and 96 both have rubber seals around the stem and they both have a log drilled holes unlike the two you have I guess they’re putting them together with whatever parts they have on the shelf . My new version one looks identical to the old original one except for serial number is on the back instead on the side and The new logo so basically two changes i can find also it has a sw200-1 not ETA 2824 all the new one have the SW 200 which is cheaper for them to obtain in my opinion is just as good

It’s simple to know the ones with the original logo have a ETA 2824 for the ones with the new logo have the SW 200

Like I’ve been telling everyone they using whatever they have available and sending it out simple as that The three samples I have the old logos have the ETA and the new one has a SW 200 which doesn’t really matter they’re both good but it’s nice to know other people are noticing of all the changes and all the difference from each watch they produce that I was the only one noticing I just found it strange that your two new models doesn’t match my new model what are those people doing over there but I really don’t care I’ll pick them up at 320 no complaints love them just the same Thanks for your response

Amani exchange sued then over the logo and lost now that makes sense to me why they Been going back-and-forth with the two logos I guess all the newer models will be back to the new logo now that the Supreme Court in Switzerland said it will be OK
