Update ! 2003 Chevy Tahoe 4.8L 4wd 331K miles. Here what has happen, I went to drain the tranny fluid and the drain plug bolt head stripped so I drilled a small hole in the pan and drained the fluid, I purchased a used refurb pan then took down the pan I changed the both solenoids A-B 2-3 3-2 then buttoned the pan up fill with fluid and it works ! Shifts nicely and its fast ! Thank you !

I have a new problem. This video is excellent, hubby a mechanic, but really retired. My GMC Yukon XL Denali 2011 has had a slight problem for about 6 months, occasionally at a light, I press the accelerator and it jerks into gear as I take off. Then while driving home from a long trip a few days ago, at the start of the trip, driving 75-80 mph at times for the first hour. Stopped at rest stop, then when I got on the road the shifting wasn't working correctly. Sometimes when accelerating, the rpm's shot up but the car didn't seem to want to accelerate. We ended up driving home with the TOW button pushed and babied it going home. Hooked it up to a scan and it isn't giving any codes. We want to start with replacing both solenoids and checking the harness ends. But according to the friend mechanic that hooked it up, said it wasn't looking like it even has a solenoid in the transmission (like that particular transmission doesn't have one). He said all of this was confusing, not making any sense. So he will speak to some other guru's on it. Has anyone had something similar?

This is the best video I've came across so far on this subject. My 03 just started acting up. It's stuck in second gear.i thought well it's gone. But when i hooked up my scan tool it said sylnoid b. So guess that's better than a busted tranny. I've never done this before but you explained it well enough I'm about to jump on it. I've swapped tranny's dozens of times but never a sylinoid. Hope that's all it is

@@roamsolo yes it worked pretty easy fix. You will have to loosen yourexzaust manifold bolts to get your pan off. You dont have to take them off. Just loosen so you can pull the exhaust down a few inches. Make sure you replace both A & B sencor. That way you make sure it's not going to fail. I got A.C delco off amazon for $35. And it fixed it. I changed the filter while i was in their as well. Shifts great now. Good luck.

Hey Scott, hope all is well for you and thank you in advance. I have just purchased a 2002 GMC ENVOY SLE, i was told the transmission was out . It had been sitting , at this point approximately 4-5 weeks. I arrived and started the engine and just for kicks pulled it in reverse and it took! I then pulled it 8n drive and it took. So i pulled it back into reverse and backed , up hill, out if the drive and proceeded ti go forward about 25 yrds , when i went to back up to turn around it would not take gear acted as if it was in neutral. So i psid the lady and loaded it on a roll back and brought it home to start researching . So the next day i went to fuse #47 in the rear block and sure enough the fuse was blown !!! - BUT-. i boosted it back off again ( battery is shot) and took off to town to try it out ans get some fuel. I got on it pretty good when i left and laid pretty good rubber and thoyght i had stole this envoy for no other than a fuse!!! NOPE.... LOL! made it about a mile and it started to be sluggish trying to shift and then juzt as if it was in neutral again ...not pulling at all. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I need your opinion on this one because I’m not sure so whenever I got the car I was told the trans was “rebuilt” it goes all the way to 3rd gear an will not go to 4th I manually put it in 2nd an it’s fine does feel sluggish going threw gears but it will not go into 4th well at least this is what I’m thinking because the car starts raving alittle to high I think it’s perfect till I get at about 60 or 65 an then you start to realize it’s not shifting oh an also if you kick it down it doesn’t down shift from what I can remember I’m gonna go for another drive an test it again do you think this could potentially be my problem because the trans doesn’t feel bad whenever I manually put it in second it pulls great even 3rd pulls great just no 4th

Thank you Scott for the informative video I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe 4.8L 4wd 331K miles the codes are P0758 Shift Solenoid 2-3 I bought transmission filter kit with the A-B Solenoids and a 3-2 shift I figure Ill change it any way. Ill do this in a few days I feel very confidant to do this task while the Tranny is still mounted performing it upside down. Howdy. I have a 1995 228,000 miles Sierra 1500 pickup. Only symptom I have is delayed shift from 1st to 2nd. It waits until 2,700 to 3,100 rpms. I can usually make it upshift to 2nd by easing up on fuel pedal just a little for a moment. Does it hot or cold, in cold weather and warm. Everything else works as it should. It will downshift from 2nd to 1st as it should. Fluid clean, good and exactly Full. Fuses all good. No CEL or codes stored. No visual leaks or consumption. Is this the 1-2 solenoid / solenoid A failing, more than likely? Or the 2-4 Servo? Or the 1-2 Accumulator valve? I have no CEL or stored codes. Also, is there a way to manually shift it to further narrow down issue? Many thanks!

Was roasting tires like a goofball doing some weight transfer in the rain in my 2013 silverado. Went home went to bed woke up and now my 1-2 shift revs really high and finally drops in after it hangs at 4.5k. If I let off the throttle at 2.5k where it used to shift it shifts into 2nd no problem at all. Checked fluid And level was really low so put a few quarts in and that helped a little so now under light throttle at a stop sign it will shift basically fine again but anytime I put a little bit more than a little throttle it pulls the rpms up real high and holds them until it hard shifts

Got a 1997 Gmc jimmy 107,000 miles shifts perfect but when you are driving in randomly drops out of overdrive I did the whole tap the brake pedal the TCC does its thing but it will randomly fall out of over drive then shift back into overdrive. Someone has put a cold Air intake on it I thought maybe maf sensor could be tricking the computer checked all the fuses when it's in overdrive it doesn't slip it runs great just falls out of overdrive to 3rd then give it throttle shifts back to overdrive fluid is new and Clean I traded for the vehicle so but it's low mileage some help greatly appreciated

You can check the ohms of resistance using a multimeter. I don't remember what the specification is off the top of my head. You could also use a 9 V battery is the battery and see if the solo noid clicks when you apply 9 V power.

In your video you say both wires of the shift solenoid plugs should show continuity. That being the red and green of solenoid A and red and orange on solenoid B in a 2004. I'd did that and only the red Gaver me continuity. My question is if it's a DC current why would they both have negative continuity?

your videos definitely helped me a lot. However I'm not great with electrical so heres where Im at. P0756 code. but was having very low power long before the code came. did everything you said. Solenoids test perfect and valves didnt seem to be gunked up. there was a small wear spot on them in the finish but suspect thats normal. My issue is with the wiring. have a cheap probe from harbor freight but it works. Only one of the harness wires for each of the 5 or 6, 2-wire connectors inside the trans will show ground with the key off. (I haven't tried it with the key on). it seems in one of your videos you said they both need to show ground. Does this mean my harness internal harness is bad?

The tool scanner says solenoid a is off I dont have reverse and lost 2and and 4th gear do you think that's the issue I thought it would ge the sun gear but the tool scanner says solenoid a can that cause me to lose reverse 2and and 4th

I bet your sun gear is probably stripped out. The computer is probably confused. It might be worth a try, replacing the solenoids but I doubt that will fix it. Atf is about 40 bucks for 5 qts, you don't want to drain and fill that thing to many times.

So I’m confused on my transmission so are the people at AAmco transmission sometimes shifts 100% but I believe 2nd to 3rd wind the tack up a bit before it shifts does not do it all the time after that drive all day at 80 or 90 miles an hour no problem so I don’t know what’s wrong. Hi. I have a problem with my GMC ENVOY XUV My GMC Envoy has been working fine and I drove it earlier today to run some errands and parked it at home. 4hrs later my wife gets in to use it, starts it up fine, tries to go in reverse and the car doesn't move. The engine revs up but wont move forward or reverse. Its almost as if it its in park. One thing I did notice is that when I shifted the gear its was a lot smoother when transitioning from Park to the other shifts than any other time. when I shift the gears and also when I shift it isn't allowing me to push my vehicle, its almost as if it is stuck in park even after shifting. My car has 143000 miles. My car has a automatic transmission and Automatic Transmission Control Solenoid I changed and new trans oil and filter still not moving.

I have a 2001 tahoe with a remanu trans installed about 5 years ago. Now when i accelerate from a stop, I get a slight slip going from 2nd to 3rd at about 28mph. If I accelerate slowly you almost don't feel it. Other than that it works perfectly. I baby it for the 2-3shift so can hopefully get many more miles out of it. I watch the tach and I can see it go up like 300-400 rpm then drop when 3rd kicks in. Do you think its a solenoid problem or something else?

They are both the same. If you are gonna replace one, replace both. The the shift valves fir movement and the wiring harness for continuity if you are gonna be there. I think that info on parts is in the description. I'll update soon if not. Good luck on your diy fix.

B is nearest to the accumulator. The part numbers you gave are for different parts. The a and b are the same. The 3-4, is a different part number.

I got a S10 98 Chevy blazer it throwing 753 code shift 1/2 I changed them both it shifts great but it keep throwing the same code if went threw all wiring only thing I'm finding is tcc is only showing 10 om's it shows to be u on transmission plug just not sure witch one it is of the tcc solenoid it is but shouldn't it throw different code if it iv had pan off like 5 times now checking wires and solenoid's thank in advance all help would be appreciated

On A and B shifts Solenoid putting it back into place on my 2004 Transmission!! my Transmission doesn’t have a spacer! does it vary in the years of making the 4l60e to have a spacer

Not all of the models have the spacer. So if you removed yours and a spacer did not come out. Leave it alone and reinstall it as you removed it.

hey sir got a 04 cadillac and its fine in par drive revers but when i put it in drive seccond to third gear it revs high till i let go the foot and it shifts but if i go in manual mode 1 2 3 no problem whats up? anyone got some tips?

Can't guarantee anything but if I was looking at that transmission I would start by looking at the accumulators.

Good morning I have a 2007 tahoe 4.8 and won’t shift. But I don’t have problems selecting the gears. Move forward and reverse with no problems. Transmission feel strong but won’t shift. Change the fluid filter and solenoids will fix my problem?

1996 chevy silverado k1500. 4l60e got rebuild 30k miles ago and it acts fine when i’m driving after about 20 minutes of driving and i come to a complete stop, go to take off and it wants to go 5 mph. feels like it’s stuck in 2nd. i put it in 1st, then 2nd. nothing. i have 3rd and then no 4th. this happened out of the blue. i let the truck cool down and its fine again until 20 minutes of driving.

04 GMC Canyon truck will not go into gear. I can put it any gear and all it does is sit there and rev up. Checked fluids everything is where it’s supposed to be. Any help?

Is your gear selector moving under the truck when you move the selector on the dash? If fluid is good you probably have no line pressure. I'd think something with the pump is bad. Highly unlikely but have you checked the filter? Make sure its clean and properly seated?

Scotties Hobbies it’s like 50/50 sometimes it wants to sometimes it don’t when you first start it up it will go into gear and move for like 15 seconds and then go back into what seems like neutral. Filter is like it should be. Thought it would be something electrical just not working properly just don’t know how to electrically test a solenoid.

@@e7904 usually a bad solenoid will effect one or a few gears. You will still get forward or reverse movement if a solenoid is bad. I do have a few vids covering testing the shift solenoids. But if you have no movement I'd thing the pump is not giving the pressure it should to work.

My car hard difficult shifting gears then eventually got stuck in first gear. DSI M78 6T. When I put in R it moves but when I put in D it takes long before taking off. I have code P0700. Do I change solenoids, valve body or TCM?

I just swap the tranny 4L60e and checked the solenoids 2 but I just noticed that B solenoid doesn’t have the spacer. Is that common or not? If not what is there for me to do? Thank you

I have not figured out what is a noticeable difference on this situation yet but not all of the valve bodies have a spacer on the solo noise. If yours did not do not be alarmed and reinstall as it was.

What’s your take on cleaning vs swapping the cooler lines? I can’t find the product to clean them

@@elguero2296 ill turn my air pressure down to 10 psi or so. Make sure both sides of the cooler lines are disconnected. Introduce air to one line so the fluid and debris will come out the other side. You can swap the hoses too to get the same effect. But the cooler might be clogged on that case.
