If he plays Kxh2, Hikaru premoves Nf3+. Black can respond with Kh1 and get mated immediately with Rg1#, or go Kh3 and get mated with Rg1 followed by an unstoppable Bf1# But if black plays Kh3 immediately after Rg4+, black's king is now making contact with the rook on g4. After hikaru's premove Nf3, that would undefend the g4 rook and black could simply play Kxg4. Still probably lost for black though

Nf3 premove from Hikaru is a BLUNDER, because black could have went with the king to h3 instead of taking the pawn on h2. If black went to h3 after Nf3 premove the rook would have no protection and black would have won The Roooook for free. Bad premove from the mighty Hikaru.

Interestingly this is a mate in 5 but it isnt premovable, or at least not the way he did it (I dont know if there is a premove mate or not). So Ne5 Kg2 is forced. After Rxg4 black could play Kh3. Nf3 premove then allows Kxg4 capturing the Rook and my crappy engine says its 2.72 points in favor for black. No shade on Hikaru at all, he had his attention on the game instead of relaxing to chat with his viewers, when his premoves are forced, so he knew. Just studying pros premoves can be very educational for learning and I wanted to share

The premove was actually incorrect, after rook takes g4 check if king goes to h3 then after knight f3 the rook hangs and it's losing. Still, as always it's super impressive.
