I also remember as a kid buying balloons at theme parks and stuff, the balloons are held down by a weight at the bottom to keep them from flying off when you let go. These weights were usually cute shapes like elephants or (at Disney parks) Mickey Mouse ears. I think those are what the hearts at the end of Drifloon’s strings are meant to look like. A cute ghost ballon that ferries souls to the afterlife is a really clever concept, I like it!

Duskull and it's line actually has a reason for it, being proper psychopomps who don't just steal away living children. They are specifically in charge of making sure dead people stay in the afterlife, and hunt down fugative souls who managed to make it back to the living world. In the anime the first time we see a dusklops, everyone THINKS it's being a dangerous monster attacking people. But nope. It was trying it's best to protect them from a ghost criminal who was trying to kill children.

While John Wayne Gacy did perform as a clown at children’s birthday parties, he didn’t use this disguise to lure children to their deaths. He mainly preyed on teen boys, usually offering them alcohol or drugs. I also wouldn’t say he started the whole stranger danger phase of the 80s, that was more due to the kidnapping of young boys, two of which became very famous and very tragic cases...and boy this comment got dark for a Pokémon video. In any case Drifloon is one of my favorite Pokémon!

Considering the PokeDex entries of it taking children, I had this idea for a regional variant based off a popped balloon where Drifloon and Drifblim were hunted due to them kidnapping children because if you take PokeDex entries at face value, it’s a wonder why several Ghost Pokemon haven’t been hunted to extinction.

This was imprinted on me from childhood when i watched an ultraman movie where the should be hero, ultraman tiga killed an innocent mother & daughter holding a red balloon. Helium is much less of a limited resource than it is really, really annoying to get out of air. And when you put helium into a regular latex rubber balloon, it's basically going back into the atmosphere really, really quickly. There are other materials that can hang on to helium a bit better, but it's pretty much a gas that can escape almost any kind of containment over time, it seeps through the smallest crack, and latex has such big pores that it's basically like a sieve to this noble gas. That's why helium balloons deflate in a matter of hours unless they're made of that much denser silver material which I for the life of myself can't remember the name of, my brain apparently stops working this late at night, I really should sleep since I have work in six hours, but new Lockstin video!

Ghost is my favorite type, so there was no way I wasn’t gonna use this thing, but man……the hoops I had to jump through to get this freak’n thing…. You can only catch it in one single specific place, and ONLY on a Friday but ONLY after you defeat Team Galactic in that specific location but if you defeat them ON a Friday (which is what I did) you HAVE to wait for NEXT Friday, it won’t happen that same Friday. Also the game prevents you from messing around with the Switch’s clock because if you do that it soft-locks the Pokémon from appearing at all for a full 24 hours, even if it is set to a Friday…. I had to change my Switch’s clock to a Thursday, and then wait an actual real life 24 hours in order to get my drifloon on what was in reality a Sunday.

While we're on the whole "destructive flaming baloons" spirit: In Brazilian midsummer festivals, it used to be a tradition to light up hot air baloons and release them to drift around in the wind. Said practice has since been forbidden, because they used to cause wildfires wherever they landed, often enough in the middle of woodlands :)

Great video, though I noticed an issue with some of the reasoning: Drifblim can’t breed with that many Fire types. Slugma, Litwick, and Rotom-Heat are the only ones, and only because they’re all Amorphous egg group.

I have an idea to a series. In it you take either a country or multiple countries and then you look up different animals, plants, objects and myths there are there and translate it to what Pokémon would live naturally in that place of the world if it was in the Pokémon world. Here’s a few examples on Scandinavia: Animals: PIGEONS = PIDGEY line, PIDOVE line. CROWS = MURKROW line. DEERS = STANTLER. SARDINES = WISHIWASHI. OWLS = HOOTHOOT line, ROWLET line. BEAVERS = BIDOFF line. SEAGULLS = WINGULL line. VIPERS = EKANS line. BEARS = TEDDIURSA line. Plants: CHERRY TREES = CHERRUBI line. BERRIES = BOUNSWEET line. CHRISTMAS TREE = SNOVERN line. and that’s just a few examples.
