That is a manco kart stock comes with 3 to 5 HP and I have put on a 22 horse power on it and we needed to put a wheelie bar on the back. But that is one awesome lookin machine you got I love what you did with the diamond plate in..

Nice mods. Would you be willing to share how you made that motor mount? I have a similar kart and am thinking of going to a 13-14 hp motor but the mount plates are very different.

3/16" plate, cut out with an angle grinder with 6" metal cut off wheel. mounting pattern for the larger block is found online. I drilled 7/16" holes x4 to mount the engine, and 5/16" holes to mount the jack-shaft assembly to the frame. I modified/reenforced the frame to accept the larger assembly. for the jackshaft itself, it is housed in 1 3/8" ID DOM pipe/tube that fits the standard 5/8x 1 3/8" bearings and jackshaft that is about 11-12" long. all of it was mig welded together. hope that helps! I dont have dimensions as it was kind of just put together, but i think the plate is about 6" x 10" for the top and bottom, and about 2-3"x10" on the sides.

I have an 18hp v twin Briggs Vanguard. What kind of clutch would you recommend? Is that too much power? Will it be able to pop wheelies?

1) 18 hp is the upper recommended limit for the 40 series torque converter. 40 series it is. 2) popping wheelies on a go kart doesn't just depend on horsepower alone, but torque at the wheels (engine and gearing), and center of gravity (rider weight and kart layout/engine position).

Its a Manco Dingo, they used to be available through Northern Hydraulics. I had one when I was a kid, it started life with a 8hp Briggs. Later switched to a 10HP Tecumseh. Great job, and good call in losing the band brake for a disc

What kind of springs do you have in the front spindles? Do they make much of a difference?

They are just front spring suspension. They do make a little bit of a difference. They make the ride a little bit smoother, but nothing very smooth if you were to drive it off road and hit some big bumps. Some people use automotive valve springs for this type of spring suspension.

The ones in the video are 1 piece 6" steel rims from a 2 seat manco dingo. I have since replaced them with 6" steel rim/15" tire combination. On clearance got them for $15 each at bmi karts

The buggy I have is a Trax II from the edge products. The tires I have on it are 18".

A 60 tooth axle sprocket with a 9 tooth Jackshaft sprocket should be a good start for you. 18 hp is a lot so it may put a lot of strain on the chain.

33 mph but it's geared for torque. For industrial engines, a 5-7 hp should go up to 35 mph stock, and a 8-13 hp should go up to 40 mph stock

Love the engine, and the TC upgrade, but 3K for a kart???? And a kart without any suspension? I will see it at the swap meet , but I do not think I can get anywhere close to the 3K you are asking. Hope you have lowered the price a lot by tomorrow's meet happens. See you then.

There will be lots of karts at the swap meet, I'm sure you could get a wimpy one for a discount :-) Since this video I have put in upgraded/new front wheels (15" turf tires) to match the rear rim paint. New seats with high density foam, marine vinyl, gold piping, new headrest. Everything is in top notch working order. I'm ok with selling it for less than 3k, but you have to understand that this is a one of a kind kart that is very reliable and powerful with a lot of custom work on it.Without taking into account the time I have invested in restoring this, the parts alone are worth about 1K.
