In light of President Obama's historic statement affirming marriage equality, Rev. Tim revisits and revises a sermon he preached several years ago. As the religious right prepares to use religion and biblical passages as proof that same-sex marriage is immoral, let's remind ourselves what the bible really says about gay marriage.
A Sermon Offered by Rev. Tim Kutzmark

If anyone has experienced the hate of other christians I am so so sorry! The bible also calls us to be peacemakers instead of hating. Showing God's unending love and bringing everyone to him is our true goal.

+Sérgio Francisco Pina You should be proud of your homosexuality. People are born either gay or straight. Nobody chooses to be gay, just like nobody chooses to be straight. Jesus confirms this in the Bible when he says that gay people, known as eunuchs at that time, were born that way from their mother's womb (Matthew 19:12). This explains why Jesus never spoke out against homosexuality. Romans 1:27 is a passage about the consequences of idolatry, and refers to men who were already with women, and then they left their women, and went with men. This is more like adultery than homosexuality, since it is referring to men who were already with women, and then started leaving their women to go with men. So it is not referring to men going with men, but condemning men who were already in a relationship with women and then left them to go with men (ie. adultery).

This pastor is 100% correct. Jesus Christ said that gay people, known as eunuchs at that time, were born that way from their mother's womb (Matthew 19:12). This explains why Jesus never spoke out against homosexuality, but He did speak out against adultery hundreds of times. Extremists seem to conveniently ignore this important fact. Even the Ten Commandments condemn adultery, but they do not condemn homosexuality. Leviticus 20:10 states that a man who commits adultery shall be put to death.

How do you know that gay people is what he was talking about. The definition on eunuch is a man who guards women that belong to a royalty blood line. I'm gay and what you say is a compelling argument, but it needs some more research. I have heard very little arguments using this verse and fact. But when it comes to same sex marriage what does it mean?

John Mark...Boy are you DECEIVED. This man is of the devil...he is wrong. Open your Bible and actually read what it says about homosexuals. LOL eunochs were gay...lol they were sterilized...sterile...no sex and such blasphemy when you said "Jesus never spoke out against homosexuality". LOL you have proven you have never opened a Bible!!!! Read Romans 2:26-29 if you can read. May God open your eyes to truth and not vile lies from this guy who is of Satan.

Are you really saying in your statement above that Jesus never condemned homosexuality? Let us look at Matthew 19:4 where Jesus is answering a question from the Pharisees regarding divorce; nonetheless, very telling concerning the entire issue of sexuality, the purpose of sexuality, marriage and the proper form of marriage. He (Jesus) makes it clear that sexuality is to be between a man and a woman. We can then look at John 5:46-47 where Jesus tells his detractors that unless one holds to the writings of Moses (the first five books of the Bible), one cannot fully know or understand truth or Jesus Himself. Of course, in the first five books of the Bible we read of the days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis) and the blanket condemnation of homosexuality as perversion (Leviticus). Oh well, so much for throwing out the Old Testament to legitimize homosexuality (being reminded of Leviticus 20:13 NKJV, “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”). But wait, Jesus gets even more direct with the matter in reading Luke 17:27-32; Matthew 10:15; 11-24; and Mark 6:11; speaking on the sin (homosexuality) that brought of the destructions of Sodom and Gomorrah. Are you reading and seeing what Jesus said? Thank you.

Wrong, Matt 19:3-5 Jesus confirms Gen 2:22-24, Do you not remember in the beginning he who created them made them MALE and FEMALE for this reason a MAN shall leave his father and mother to be with his WIFE what GOD has put together let no man take apart...Leviticus 20:13, 18:22 say if a man lays with another man as he would a woman they "both" commit an abomination/detestable act and shall be put to death, stop lying, one sin doesn't justify another....

The bible does affirm marriage as between a man and wife. (Matthew 19) Why then does Jesus not also mention a man marrying a man or a woman marrying a woman? Paul also makes no mention of a man marrying a man or woman marrying a woman when talking about marriage. Also Lot offering his daughters for sex is not affirmed just mentioned. Moses chronicled what transpired. That doesn't mean Lot did what was right. To believe that was Lot did was affirmed is a gross misreading of the bible.

Share the scripture if you know it? This was eye opening. I do believe we can not judge others we need to love them. this man was seeking God and I know he really studied this. I have read the word and I find what he is saying sexual imorality is wrong but to love is not. God knows who needs love and faithfulness. This man is absolutely right about the selectivness of scriptures. most people say fallow the law yet they do not fallow it them selves. They are religious hypocrites.

Here's the real point... Whether you think it is wrong or right, it is here, legal, and permanent. To have such discussions is ridiculous. It's like posting videos asking if giving women the right to vote is wrong or right, (thankfully, women can vote), permitting African-Americans to be equal to Caucasions is wrong or right, (thank God we are all equal, at least legally, although, in truth, many are still illegally treated as second class citizens, which is illegal, unjust, and immoral), or if Prohibitition is right or wrong. There is no more debate or otherwise room for controversy, it's a done deal...over with and decided. Either live with it or move to somewhere else where same sex marriage is still illegal (for now), and post from that country to your heart's content.

The bible doesn't say anything about gay marriage. Jesus never spoke of gay people. The bible doesn't say WHY homosexuals are sinners. The bible doesn't define gay love or sex. The bible does say that it's greatest commandment is "do unto others". Unless the argument is that if gay people can sin then everyone can, I really don't get the issue.
@TheSlugger777
@TheSlugger777 10 жыл бұрын
Homosexuality is not the main concern. Sin is the problem. Whenever you worship anything more than your creator, which for this specific case is your partner, you are committing idolatry. An idolatry that could grow out of any lustful desires that were initially there. Also, you are taking the greatest commandment out of context, buddy. Read your bible.
@eyeyameye4035

***** That is ridiculous guessing. Is a wife a man's partner or his idol? Why would I need to idolize anyone at all? You are simply placing YOUR needs onto me. I idolize no one. I recognize my partner as one of the best examples of decency in human beings. That has NOTHING to do with sex or any such thing. There is a difference between sex and love. Your inability to understand the difference only means that you are incapable of understanding what you aren't meant to understand. I know the bible. I follow God's words when he says "do unto others as you would have them do unto you, for this is the law of the prophets". If you aren't following the golden rule of the bible, then you aren't following the bible and no one will believe that you are. Guess away.

The bible never promises you a sinless world but YOU can promise him a less sinful person in yourself. Treat others in the same way as you would have them treat you or abandon any claim that you are following the bible.

Next guess about something that you don't know anything about... i'm sure that you've got plenty. You can't define what you cannot comprehend.
