Brian Stell lol i dont even have to watch his review to know what your issue is first off the removal of church and state is NOT what you think it is it means that a church can NOT rule like a government or take government roles it does NOT mean that people running this country cant be christian secondly its pretty amazing jefferson stated that the constitution is ment for RELIGIOUS people and no one else because thats how it was made and only those with judeo christian values would be able to uphold it and as we get to see in america today the country is falling apart pretty amazing that its atheists aka the left thats destroying this country it was almost as if the founding fathers actually knew what they were talking about and actually werent a product of their times in other words more and more people are pushing against what this country was founded on aka undeniable rights given to us by our creator NOT the government NOT by humans our CREATOR and the moment we started expecting the government aka HUMANS to protect those rights the moment this country and hell the whole western culture started to go to shit judeo christian values is what the western culture was based on its what this country was founded on and its pretty amazing that the moment people started pushing against those values the western world has crumbled to shit and CONTINUES to get worse finally atheism is a religion sorry to tell you that but you atheists spend more time talking about god and try so hard to prove that he doesnt exist then we christians do proving he does even our arguments that are based in science and logic make more sense then an atheists and if you dont believe me theres quite a few religious scientists who would gladly logically argue you into a corner over such things as free will as they have done to many others lol so you can disagree till the cows come home and thats on you but lets just hope you get your head out of lefts ass before its too late you and a lot of other millennials too :P

@BSR-zy2so5 жыл бұрын
That’s not weird, in my opinion. I’m not a Christian, but I have friends who are. Despite what many Evangelicals say, Christian doesn’t solely mean Evangelical or fundamentalist. Christians have different values and morals. Some random street preacher doesn’t and cannot represent all Christians. You shouldn’t feel like you have to agree with someone because they share your faith (or lack thereof in my case). That just causes tribalism. I’m an Atheist, but I certainly don’t agree with all atheists. There’s room for nuance.
@BSR-zy2so5 жыл бұрын
Ria LeDuc It’s not that simple. Sometimes street preachers can be aggressive or single people out. When I was in college, one followed me around yelling at me to repent from my sin of homosexuality because I kissed my girlfriend in front of him. I think that they should have the right to free speech, but it’s not uncommon for street preachers to violate your privacy if you’re a non-Christian. That’s why it’s cringey for me, but that may be the result of living in a heavily religious area.

I am from a conservative family based in Houston. I remember when the sermons were subpoenaed. At the time I was living in a suburb and my pastor was just outside the range of those affected, but he was on fire about it. I imagine he was so enraged because he was, in fact, very political in his sermons. I’m not sure if he ever outright told the congregation who to vote for specifically but he did say not to vote for someone who supported abortion or “open borders” or taking our rights etc. I have attended a few conservative churches in Houston and witnessed a sermon from the Second Baptist pastor that was like that as well. Houston tried to subpoena the sermons, I don’t remember why but I do remember I was still attending that baptist church, and even I shook my head and said, pastor, you know you’ve gone too far. Many others at the church agreed but we all kept our mouths shut out of fear of being seen as nonchristian. The pastor at my church had succeeded in fostering an attitude of if you’re not with me, you’re against God.
@angelt.52765 жыл бұрын
Hannah Bernal Wow, that’s actually a pretty interesting situation. I would agree that a pastor shouldn’t delve deeply into politics or suggest that the congregation vote for a specific candidate at all. I will say this, however, because I feel that it’s important: Christians should carefully consider the sensitive political issues that each candidate supports or does not support. As a believer, I cannot (in good conscience) vote for a candidate who seeks to strip away my religious freedom and bolster the abortion machine that is harvesting millions of innocent lives each year. I believe that looking at the issues at hand is far more important than simply casting a vote because of how a particular candidate talks or carries him or herself. Actions speak louder than words, for me.

I waited so long for this review, and it was so well worth the wait. That scene where the characters felt like what they knew was falling apart really hit home with me. I started doubting God when kids at my church and school rejected and bullied me, because if God's people didn't love me, then what's to say God loves me? It sent me on a whole long, dark path for years trying to think for myself, think about life and question everything that I believed to be truth all my life. I really appreciate how this movie explains that it's okay to ask questions. It's okay to disagree and think differently. As of right now, I'm an athiest; however my story isn't over. I'd just encourage you to think for yourselves because whatever conclusion you come to, your foundation will be much stronger and you'll have a much deeper understanding of what you believe. Stay strong everybody.

If anyone is interested in eminent domain, there's a great Australian movie called The Castle that features it. It's by no means a serious or legally accurate look at the topic, and eminent domain is known by a different name in Australia, but it's still worth a watch.

A major problem with Christain movies is that they end up more or less preaching to the choir and presenting such a black and white view of things, plus there is this whole persecution complex element to the films that ends up alienating anyone that isn't already one of the converted

Thank goodness for John Corbett. I went to see the movie with a bunch of extended family (all of whom were PUMPED about the free church event and loved the story) and had to look for reasons to not cry of boredom. Great review, and I agree that it is the strongest, although just as unnecessary, of the three.

I still have a lot of problems with GND 3, specifically its politics regarding protests and how some of the drama feels very superficial (like how there doesn’t seem to be any payoff for genuinely good scenes, like Dave’s conversation with the black pastor). BUT, that being said, I really do appreciate your review. Glad to have you back! :D

Yay! I enjoyed the parts you shared about the movie--the way you presented it made it a nice story. I don't feel like the plot itself had to be connected to the previous two? It maybe could have been its own thing without incorporating old characters. But it's nice to hear God's Not Dead back track

Finally getting around to watching this! I have to say, there are definitely more elements of self-awareness in this movie than any of the previous ones. Especially when it comes to how they portray the non-Christian characters. Of course they couldn’t resist a few cartoony stereotypes “rarr rarr defeat the Christians rawr!”, but in the boyfriend and the brother character we see people who were driven away from the faith not by God himself or some misplaced hatred of God because “something something cancer” and instead because of being actively mistreated by people of the faith, The boyfriend saw his mother shamed and humiliated by her church for being a victim of abuse. The brother character had his honest doubts about the Faith met with hostility from his Christian family instead of them trying to help him through it. These are far more common reasons that people reject the faith than these contrived scenarios featuring dead wives and Evil Atheist Professors™️. And for once the Christian character is taken to task on how he delivers his message. I freaking love that black pastor blasting him with a much needed truth bomb 😂 I also didn’t think these movies would have the balls to kill off a character so violently. Well I mean of course they don’t mind killing off an atheist character with a car crash but I didn’t think they’d have one of the “good guys“ and previously established characters blow up. That was surprisingly emotional. This particular film might’ve been too little too late but hopefully it’s a sign that David AR White is finally getting it through his head that his approach to evangelism might be flawed. Hopefully.

i really enjoyed this review. i’ve been looking forward to it ever since i heard about gnd 3. i think this movie was definitely progress in all of the questioning that it posed as well as having decent non-christian characters. i also liked how it was kind of self aware about the two previous films and made it obvious that some previous points and arguments made were stupid. it certainly had its issues as you pointed out, but at least the entire movie wasn’t made of nonsensical, fictional victim complexes and outright cringe. and found it kind of entertaining how david a r white wasn’t ‘funny’ and confident the whole time. he was confused and got angry which was great lol. but great review! the highlight of my day

Hey Kevin - I just wanted to say thanks for such an awesome review. It was so insightful but also so hilarious. While I disagree and actually think the film was pretty good just from an overall movie-quality perspective (maybe I have lower standards??? lol) I agree with all your points and how the God's Not Dead movies have really matured both in their handling of characters (specifically the fact that non-Christians actually have compassion and hearts as well lol) and the plot. For his first film, Michael Mason did a great job and deserves a ton of credit. I love your honesty and your focus on showing the love of Christ to the world, while still being intellectual, real, and willing to address the flaws of Christians and non-Christians alike. I will continue to pray for you and support your future videos and thank you for "letting there be light" (*cough cough another great movie review*) in a world that is so dark without the love and light and truth of Christ in their lives. I also love how you've called out the hateful Christians down below - it is our duty as fellow believers to point out when others are doing wrong, not to puff ourselves up, but to truly help others become more like that really important guy named Jesus. Haha. Next up: Unbroken: Path to Redemption... can't wait to hear what you have to say!!!!
