Honestly would love to see a video about Michael Dougherty’s original intention with GvK. Skull island, monarch and the orca Z… so many interesting concepts that were all dropped.

It's such a complicated web trying to track it all down. Dougherty only did one set of rewrites on GVK to make sure the continuity from his film was kept. But the original GVK script and the Dougherty revision were both lost to time as things kept getting shifted around and changed again and again resulting in massive rewrites on the day during filming and major things shifting or getting dropped mid-production. It's hard to pice together what the story should have been.

The fact that GKOTM seriously underperformed G2014 & KSI at the box office scared Legendary and threw the Monsterverse into confusion. They felt a new direction was needed to revive interest. So they reworked the script as shown by the removal of characters who were originally scheduled to appear in GvK.

Same here mate because I would love this modern Toho style universe for the Monsterverse that Micheal Dougherty is trying to push for and it would make a good set up for Godzilla vs Kong if they kept Dougherty’s original plan for the series.

Personally this is my favorite mv comic. I see your flaws but personally I think this is the last monsterverse media where we have the 2014-kotm characterization of Godzilla and I liked the fact we go deeper into his story and how he feels about both Mothra and serizawas sacrifice.

I can see that for sure. I feel like this comic takes things way too literally, as all of the expanded material seems to. The entire "alpha titan" thing was blown way out of proportion following King of the Monsters. Even that film takes the concept too literally, but the way they've treated it sense has essentially stripped Godzilla of any nuance.

Liked your little tangent on the MV Godzilla’s personality. Personally, I wish they had stuck with his KOTM personality but also give a sense that he’s also lonely, acting as foil for Kong. That way the team up in GvK is a little more than just putting aside differences.

Godzilla dominion used to be my second favorite Monsterverse comic in the series because they introduced new Titans like famous Tiamat and the bizarre looking freak of nature, Amhuluk, but overtime and watching your review about Godzilla dominion change my opinion about the comic. I agree the comic has a rushed plot, making inconsistency, adding lore that doesn’t make sense, having fan fiction writing, more art tracing, and most importantly shifting the original intention from what Micheal Dougherty teased and set up in Godzilla King Of the Monsters to be the main directions for Monsterverse and leading up to the climatic showdown between Godzilla vs Kong. (10:13 - 11:06), I really where Micheal Dougherty original intention for the Monsterverse and GvK because the Monsterverse series has the full potential to be a Toho style Godzilla shared universe with American film budget, but I’m so pissed off that Legendary dropped or scrapped these interesting concepts for the Monsterverse before going off to a different direction in Godzilla vs Kong and the rest of the Monsterverse (that explains why the Godzilla vs Kong lore is not very interesting or deep like GKOTM). Hopefully, Legendary in the future will decide to back this Toho style universe that Dougherty set up from GKOTM.

I agree @dman1954 . I am not convinced that Tiamat had killed the Rival. It's more likely that the Rival after claiming Godzilla's lair, he remained there to the end of his days. In KOTM movie and novel, it's revealed that Tiamat was residing/hibernating at Outpost 53 at Stone Mountain Georgia until she was awakened by King Ghidorah. After the defeat of Ghidorah, it actually makes more sense that Tiamat later swam and found Godzilla's old lair and then claimed this as her territory.

In future monsteverse movies, i would like legendary to have godzilla to actually find a home that is really more suitable for his needs and it happens to be on odo island. I can see that a add on to the signifcance of odo island where godzilla has ever debuted and not only why he is regared as a folk creature on odo island

Seeing the world through Godzilla POV and how he handle the other titans is just an amazing edition to the Monsterverse. Also it's been confirmed now that the rival has a bunch of great apes jump Godzilla while he wasn't looking and it was Tiamat who killed him. 2:45 them. Remember it can change it's gender. 4:47 it's not a issue to understand how he sees the world we wanna know more about him he's also a character of himself. 5:53 because the earth can't handle this many monsters walking around right now. It's too old and there's just not enough resources for them so Godzilla has to A) make them submit or go to sleep B) kill them 7:53 it's just upgraded 9:53 that's a alpha roar Godzilla and Kong can do that too

Pretty sure the rival thing was a retcon lmao, the comic gives no indication he got jumped by a bunch of apes and sounds more like a retcon because people were salty that godzilla lost to a kong when he was younger.

It’s a retcon because the filmmakers and writers learned very quickly the only thing more fragile than their grasp on continuity was the online Godzilla communities egos. There is constant lore revisions and apologizing happening these days to please overly obsessed Godzilla fans. It genuinely embarrasses me to see happen.

Yeah I am sorry but everything you said about this comic is just wrong :/ dominion was a mix bag and the narration was not childish, like what you on about, the art styl is awesome, and the comic does not ruin or mess up godzilla's character, godzilla dominion is a great comic, end of story :/

Yeah I found this one boring and problematic. All the new monsters was one of my favorite parts of KOTM. But here he just forces them all back into hibernation. Just another example of the disjointed nature of the franchise.
