Went to my first EVO this year and was absolutely mortified at the thought of going 0-2. What was crazy is that I was someone who went to locals and thought I would be used to the pressure. When I won my first set I was actually through the moon, I was dooming for the multiple weeks leading up to it and in hindsight, it was probably tanking my mental health, but did wonders for my improvements in practice sessions.

The most important part of going to any tournament, to me, is to at LEAST go 1 - 2 so I can have the virtue of saying I got some good hits in. I'm not confident enough in my skills at any game at the moment to ask for more than that. Not above pools yet, sadly.

Exception being the weekends, where he’d work as many hours as he could….. to save up to go to Houston (from Florida) so he could rematch the guy who took him out. I mean found his fb and everything they set it up and he won their set, and then just hung out that weekend.
