I know you recanted this statement, Sam, but for anyone else trying to justify it similarly: “Did a kid get hit?” No, but the speed limit is there to prevent that from happening at all. A kid or anyone, for that matter, shouldn’t have to lose their life for it to become something bad. He made a big fucking mistake that fortunately didn’t have lethal consequences this time. I also think theres a huge difference in the speed he was going. That was 25 over highway speeds and in residential areas. So I think he 100% deserves every ounce of flack he is getting here. Hopefully he learns, apologizes and then we can move on.

My European mind literally cannot comprehend this. I converted and it’s 154km/h. Speed limit on UK highways is 112 (70mph). In France it’s 130 (80mph). Any kid hit by a car at 96mph would be turned into liquidised ooze. It’s a narrow road with barely any visibility, sun hitting hard. How can anyone defend this?????

I mean, I know that 96 mph is fast, but seeing it in kilometers makes it even worse. even 35 miles, just over 56 km, per hour already seems pretty fast in a school zone. Here in the Netherlands, you will probably be going something like 30, or maybe even 15 kilometers per hour in particularly dangerous places.

I haven’t worked there since 2019 (thanks KZbin lol). However, when you return something that is sealed it gets placed back on the shelf if that particular product is carried and sold in the store (surprisingly, not all apple stores carry the same stuff spec wise). If it is open, it gets thrown into a bin in the back. There are usually a few bins, 1 or 2 for recycles, 1 for open returns, and 1 for broken/scrapped product (sometimes the recycle bin is used for those too). If the open product isn’t popular enough to be sold on the online refurbished store, it gets scrapped and recycled. The bins are picked up daily.

I am one of those guys who thinks no one should speed ever. Like 10 over on the freeway at most but most people are much more unsafe than that, and that clip of marques makes him seem like he is the worst type of driver

Speeding is not inherently unsafe. Being unaware of your surroundings is. Most speed limits were set close to 100 years ago when car technology was vastly different. Most highways go largely in a straight line and their curves are at such a grade that you can comfortably, safely, travel at 80~90 mph through them without being a menace to others-as long as most cars are moving at a similar speed. I think speed limits are stupid. People that turn their brains off and drive in the passing lane (the left lane) are the ones causing traffic and road rage. You wanna drive slow? Stay in the right lane and perhaps consider taking back roads. Of course, driving triple digits in a residential area is pretty reckless, but people act like they’ve never done such things and come down on Marques like he is the devil incarnate for one shot of that particular lapse in judgment.

I used to work at an Apple Store, I’m fairly confident that the reason you have to open it, is because the small chance that somebody put a bad product in there and resealed it would mean that another customer will literally get a box of rocks when they purchase a MacBook. Although the risk is small, Apple’s willing to eat a little bit of cost to guarantee that every customer is actually getting a MacBook.

I have an Amazon Alexa and to be honest it is very frustrating and sometimes doesn’t understand what you are asking it. Mine stands on the Benchtop and also has apps for tv and radio. Also displays my cameras and turns the locks on and off. Also I can set alarms and timers as well. So Apple will not be having a new device because a similar one exists. However sometimes the door locks don’t work by voice and you either have to do it manually or by the app.

As far as the Target situation, you may have a lawsuit. Retail Loss Prevention should have the elements of proof. Meaning that they should have seen you enter the store or section, select the item, pass all points of purchase and attempt to either the location without payment. They clearly didn’t have this which in my days would be considered a bad stop.
