Oh my goodness, I took Brad's classes at MC camp in San Diego ages ago! (and I do mean ages.) This brings such joy to me heart! Such excellent work! Not that I expected anything less:)

Yessssss! The very first recording session for the new album and Book IV. Bluegrass tune "Gold Rush" and the wonderful player Brad Phillips and former student at my Camps is matching me note to note on the tight bluegrass harmony this piece is constructed with. This video is the actual recording session for the CD... It is so exciting that violin students will be playing this music. I have written it all in sheet music in the soon to be released Book IV/CD. So incredibly excited? I just finished another duo recording session just today in fact with remarkable violinist Sara Caswell - we did a duet of "St. Louis Blues. Amazing to be able to do this with all the young players I have helped to mentor... Truly phenomenal to be able to put this together. A shining year unfolding for my music right now and efforts to help the violin and string culture in America and throughout world. Yes, this is going to happen. It is too good to ignore! Students and pros will want to be able to do this. They will want to be able to play this music. It is contagious, you just want more and more of all of this American music... Look at Brad, he the others you will hear from my camps on the upcoming duos are the very image of the 21st century string player. They can read, write, improvise, lead ensembles, play in orchestra, solo in front of orchestra, play in multiple styles. This duet is principally for advanced student recitals so students can become experts in the language of American music (and wow the audiences at the very same time!) Book IV/CD coming in June. After first going into the studio for MOC 4 (Method Book IV) the beginning of January (Gold Rush duo with Brad Phillips), I am going in for the last few tunes today! Joe Smart got to town with his guitar and we are going to record the final four tunes of the 22 total. On the docket today, Beaumont Rag, Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars, Mark's Waltz and Dawn Waltz. Very excited to hit the home stretch. It has been beautiful to do it.
