That's a very nice compliment, much appreciated. I was just talking to my friend about how much fun we had on that trip and wanting to go back. Hope you have great success on the water!

@@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors they look like such beautiful fish and seem quite abundant in that lake. it would seem a shame to make a meal of one and have you ever had one and what color is the flesh before it's cooked. i have fished in some remote alpine lakes in the high sierra near the tahoe area and the fish we were catching to eat had a pink orange flesh. they looked like rainbow trout but maybe they could have been dolly vardon trout but i'm not sure. what do you think? this was about 50 yrs ago.

@@steveperry1344 I have not eaten this species of fish, sorry no information there. For the tahoe area, we have a fare amount of rainbow trout, some brown trout, some lake trout, and some brook trout, there are not Dolly's in California to my knowledge, but the brook trout is a char, not a trout, and is related to the Dolly, and the Makinaw/lake trout. If you thought the fish was a Dolly, I would tell you it was a Brook Trout...

@@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors ok, like i said it was 50 yrs ago and the lakes i was fishing were in the emigrant gap area near spaulding lake, lake bowman and meadow lake. french lake and faucherie lake and 5 basins lakes were the names i remember. i think the elevation was about 5k to 6k ft. they were remote and we had to pack in tp get there.

@@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors right on cool video tho. 🤙🏻 I was looking to do a backpacking trip for my bachelor party around three or four days do you have any good recommendations with fishing would be best!

@@chrisboblitt6103 That is an area that I know little about, that was my first and only trip so far. When I went the regulation was different than it is now, so some of those lakes are not open in the spring, I think they all pop in September now, with the exception of #5. Timing is critical, and getting a permit to be there is also a factor, they only issue so many permits, at least when we went, it was still cold, and we were honestly hoping to find frozen lakes to ice fish. I backpacked up an ice auger and short ice rods, and we were lucky we brought a few full size spinning rods, for along the drive. If we would have known the lakes would be open water, I at least would have fly fished it. Would have been more challenging. The intel we were provided was those lakes would be frozen until June, not that year. Beautiful zones everywhere
