Straight up admitting GS works like the mafia after a parallel to Fight Club is made. Quite amazing i gotta say, and I can totally appreciate both the honesty and the hustle, what I do not appreciate in any way, is the media denying any sort of wrong doing from these giant corporations that literally own them, and the world. We know it, they admit it, let's live with it. It's about time the masses realize we still live in the far west, and the law is neither blind, nor equal for all, the law is purposely made to ease their job. In a civil society there is no need for millions of rules and regolations, if you dig into it you'll find out that burocracy is a self serving machine, only there as a heavily guarded gate for the business world, to funnel and filter entrances, discourage the most, confuse pretty much everyone that isnt a lawyer, and as a legal "shield" for the shit they come up with. Rest assured that if a new business plan turns out to be illegal even in the slightest part, a new law/rule/regulation will be instantly cooked to make sure no legal issues will arise, even if this means poisoning the amazon river or risking any other environmental catastrophy, or in GS case, putting people in the streets by "mugging" them "legally". The system is rigged to the point that no matter how much everyone knows it's rigged, the media machine, "his master's voice", is there to sedate the masses with fairy tales, and the same goes for the government, now just a sock puppet theater manouvered by private corporations, such as GS, with the same amount of balls as a neutered dog, with all respect for the dog of course. Western civilization is a complete hoax, we'll either end up in a tirannical dystopia, or if we're lucky in a post apocalyptic one, once the house of cards crumble under its own weight, and after these last two years of constant propaganda and fear mongering for what, data at hand, amounts to nothing but a never seen before power grab, 1984 is already here, and the wind is already blowing.. In any case I'm fucked, a mix of bad choices, bad luck, and the crumbling economy pretty much hammered the last nail in my koffin, so I'm only sorry for my grandpa that fought both the nazis and the fascists, as he's now turning in his grave as history repeats itself. And for the new generations that will never know what freedom is, and how nice it was for a time, even if it was an illusion.

The biggest issue is the federal government: getting off the gold standard/sound money and manipulating interest rates. They got off the gold standard and thus rampant and steady price inflation. Before all this, you could just save more than you spent, put it into the back at 5-8% and then retire, but with constant price inflation, retirement funds (people, pensions, whatever) HAVE to put their money into Wall Street in order to get a reasonable rate of return. Couple that with the government artificially keeping near zero interest rates that allow companies and people to gamble on Wall Street and well...here we are....

@@ggdz7469 to say finance ministry requires one to be ‘good at finance’ is an oversimplification of both finance and the role of Chancellor of the Exchequer. Finance is very broad. I never knew the details of exactly how AIG was thrown under the bus in 2008 - Or how many clear conflicts of interest there were in gov bailouts. Not really what’s happening, this is just the view of one company remember…. JPMorgan for example also was involved with the bailouts, and they were not acting on any ill intentions. Lehman deserved to go bankrupt as they were the main player with MBSs. In actual capitalism, bad companies are allowed to go bankrupt. The reason so many successful people have worked at GS is because GS hires successful people. On the outside looking in it may seem weird but, if you know the industry it’s not surprising. It’s not a normal 9-5 job, they have lower acceptance rates than Ivy Leagues, and if you work in Investment Banking you’ll be working 80-100 hour work weeks. They take the best students from the best schools then have them work their asses off. It’s the NYC of Finance, if you can make it at Goldman, you can make it anywhere.
